1/13 Morning Recruiting Roundup

Posted by Bryan Fischer
Welcome to a daily feature we’d like to call the Recruiting Roundup, featuring stories, links, tweets and everything else covering the world of college football recruiting. Faster than your 40, we'll go straight to the links for your perusal.

- Boise State kicker Kyle Brotzman unfortunately may be best known for missing two kicks against Nevada this year but he did have an excellent career, setting an FBS-record for points scored. The Broncos may have just found his able replacement in Upland (CA) kicker/punter Jake Van Ginkel, who committed on Wednesday. For some background on Van Ginkel, check out this profile from earlier in the year by the L.A. Times.

- Oregon State picked up a commitment from defensive end Noa Aluesi out of Jefferson High in Oregon. At 6-foot-8 and 255 pounds, Aluesi gives the Beavers an impressive athlete to use on either side of the ball.

- Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee are on Ashville (NC) defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan’s shortlist. The former Gator commit says they are still in the picture but Clemson is where he’s most comfortable right now.

- Highly recruited Valdosta (GA) products tight end Jay Rome and wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell will make their college choices on January 20th. Staying in state, Thomasville (GA) defensive end Ray Drew will take an official visit to Miami this weekend

- A record-setting quarterback from the Dallas-area will enroll early at West Virginia as a walk-on. Flower Mound (TX) signal caller Paul Millard threw for 47 touchdowns last season and commits to West Virginia over offers from UTEP and Stephen F. Austin.

- Stanford lost out on a commitment from Oradel (NJ) Shutang Mungwa but it was not because of the coaching change but because he was not accepted into the school. Mungwa, a defensive back, switched his commitment to Syracuse about 30 minutes after finding out he was not accepted. Brooklyn (NY) wide receiver Brandon Reddish also committed to the Orange.
