Perry Ellis set to announce decision

By Jeff Borzello

Kyle Anderson isn’t the only star recruit making his decision this week.

Perry Ellis, a 6-foot-8 forward from Wichita Heights (Kan.), will announce his commitment on Wednesday during a press conference at his high school. The announcement will take place at 2:45 local time.

Ellis is down to four schools: Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky and Wichita State.

“Ellis plans to sign a letter of intent with his final choice in November, during the early signing period,” Joe Auer, his high school coach, stated in an email.

Ellis can score in a variety of ways, with his back to the basket or in the mid-range while facing up. He knows how to finish at the rim, and runs the floor effectively. Ellis is ranked No. 27 in CBSSports.com’s Top 100.

Perry Ellis narrows list to four

By Jeff Borzello

Perry Ellis' recruitment has been widely-scrutinized for several years, due to his status as a three-time state champion and two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in Kansas.

It looks like the 6-foot-8 forward from Wichita Heights (Kan.) is ready to start making progress with a decision, though.

Late Thursday night, Fonda Ellis, Perry's mother, sent out an email release stating that Perry had trimmed his list to a final four: Kansas, Kansas State, Wichita State and Kentucky.

"Perry said he decided to pick the schools that he feels the most comfortable with and that have been recruiting him the longest," his mother told CBSSports.com. "All of these schools have been recruiting him hard in July."

Interestingly, when we spoke with Ms. Ellis in May, she said that those four schools had been showing the most interest. Some of the schools left off the final list include Duke, Memphis, Oklahoma and Minnesota.

Ellis has scheduled in-home visits with Kansas and Kansas State for September 9th.

""He would like to sign in the early signing period," his mother said. "Just scheduling his in-home visits at this time, no officials yet."

He is ranked No. 27 in the updated CBSSports.com Top 100.
