NASCAR Power Rankings: After Phoenix

Of all the great posters on the Auto Boards; no one takes the time to do power rankings. I know Santos does them every week, but we don't have a regulur that does them. So, I have decided to give it a shot. So here it goes:

1. Carl Edwards

Carl EdwardsHe would be second in the standings if it wasn't for the 100 point peniltiy.

2. Jeff Burton
Jeff BurtonThe most consistant driver so far and the points leader. So far his worst finish is 13th at Daytona.
 3. Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. 3rd in the standings and my favorite for next week at Talladega.

4. Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch Another top 10 for Kyle Busch. 5th on the season. And oh yeah he is second in the standings.

5. Jimmie Johnson

Jimmie Johnson He picked up his first win of many this season last week. He isn't doing as good as accpected, but what he is doing isn't that bad either.

6. Kevin Harvick

Kevin HarvickSantos has this guy at 8th. I think he defenitly more deserving then that. He is 5th in the standings.

7. Tony Stewart

Tony Stewart5 top 10s so far, but the DNF at Las Vagas has hurt him.

8. Denny Hamlin

Denny Hamlin3 top 5s in the row. One of them being a victory. This guy is in store for a great season.

9. Greg Biffle

Greg BiffleSitting cofortably at 10th in the standings. With 5 top 10s on the season

10. Clint Bowyer

Clint BowyerHe had a slow start this season. He didn't get his first top 10 till Atlanta, but he hasn't missed the top 10 since. Plus a 2nd place finish in phoenix.

11. Ryan Newman

Ryan Newman He won the 500, but only has one top 5 since. Plus the DNF last week didnt help. He is 11th only because he still is in the top 12 in the points and he has a victory this season which the next guy does not.

12. Kasey Kahne

Kasey Kahne Two years ago this guy was the guy to beat. Now he hasnt won a race since the callender said 2006. There is some good news though and no Carl didnt sell him any car insurence. Kasey has 4 top 10s this season.

13.  Jeff Gordon

Jeff Gordon Even with his 3 DNFs he still sits 13th in the standings. Only 14 points behind Kahne for 12th.

14. Matt Kenseth

Matt Kenseth Matt hasn't been having the season he has hoped he would have and the 38th place finish this past weekend didnt help.

15. Martin Truex Jr.

Martin Truex Jr.  A solid 8th place finish was his first top 10 since californa

16. Juan Pablo Montoya

Juan Pablo Montoya This guy still has some learning to do. His best finish this season is 13th.

17. Kurt Busch

Kurt Busch Although he did finish second at Daytona. Nothing has been going is way since. His best finish is 11th and he has a DNF at Las Vagas

18.Jamie McMurray

Jamie McMurray He had a really tough start to the season (even getting out of the top 35 in owner points), but is finnally starting to recover. The 17th this past week gets him up to 26th in the standings.

19. Bobby Labonte

Bobby Labonte According to Santos he had to run part of the race on 7 cylinders and he still finished 12th. Nice Job Labonte.

20. Brian Vickers

Brian Vickers If it wasn't for the two DNFs this season. Vickers would be in contention for the top 12.

Just missed:
David Ragan
David Gilliland
Travis Kvapil
Mark Martin

Wow! Glad thats done. Only took me a little over an hour. So how did I do? Do you guys think I should continue with this? Comments:

Mickeymantl4's intro blog

Here is another great blog by:  mickeymantl4:

I am writing this as I listen to Black Dog by Led Zeppelin. I get my inspriation from the creator of Dilbert, Scott Adams. He has a blog of his own, here's a link to it: http://dilbertblog.typepad.com/. He has a book out "Stick to drawing comics Monkey Brain", it is a collection of past blog entries, it is defenately worth  read, it is hilarious. On the topic of comics, another really funny comic to read is "Pearls before Swine", here's a link to its site: http://www.comics.com/comics/pearls
/index.html
. On the television, some shows I like to watch are Mythbusters, The Universe, Big Bang Theory, Monk, and Psych and Last One Standing. Big Bang Theory is a sitcom, it is about nerds, and their social ineptitude. Every episode is very funny, and will have you craving more of the show. I'm not too big on game shows or reality shows, but some good ones are Merv Griffen's Crosswords, Who wants to be a Millionare, Jeopardy, and Survivor.  As for hobbies, I enjoy collecting sports memorabilia, autographs, and star gazing. Some videogames out now or soon to be that I have/want are Civilization 3, MVP Baseball 2005, Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band, Spore (coming in September), Supersmash Bros Brawl, and Tiger Woods PGA tour 2005. My favorite sports teams both college and professional are Pittsburgh Panthers (any sport), Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, Cinici Bengals, Miami Dolphins, Dayton Dragons (minor league), and Texas Rangers (only because they have Josh Hamilton). The music on my itunes consists of Classic Rock (90%), Soundtrack (5%), 90's alternative (grunge) (3%) holiday/other (2%). Upcoming movies I want to see: Indiana Jones IV. Until they came out, I wanted to see Rocky 6, and Rambo IV, now I have them on DVD, except Rambo IV isn't out yet, but I will have it when it does come out. My online friend codes for GH3, and SSBB are GH3: 2964 5909 6897 and SSBB: 1203 9214 0805. If you want to challenge me, just post, and I'll be on to accept that challenge. On one last note,if your looking for good online radio, go to www.pandora.com, this site allows you to customize your radio. You pick any artist, and then you listen to a station that plays artists similar to that artist, and sometimes, it will play a song by your selected artist. For example, if I pick artist Boston, my Boston radio station would play music similar to Boston, such as Kansas, Led Zeppelin, and other classic rock artists. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, just post them, and I will get back to you with my answer.

Mickeymantl4' blog on music.

Since my cousin ( mickeymantl4 ) can not post blogs yet he has asked me to post this for him: Please direct all comments a questions to him.

Today, as I am writing this, I am listening to the song 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins. It is one of many songs I have by them, all of which are amazing. Also on my playlist on itunes, I have almost all of Boston's discography, I am only missing one album. Of course, there is no doubt that their first album (Boston) is the best. Its ranked #11 on best albums of all time. One would think they would be in the Hall of Fame, but they aren't, go figure. Other artists on my playlist include: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Men at Work, Pearl Jam, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, Bon Jovi, and Tom Petty.  I have to say that one of the best songs ever is Stairway to Heaven by Zeppelin, Led, it has everything you'd want, good vocals, amazing guitar solo, and some good drums. If your looking for a song with great drums, listen to Moby Dick by Zeppelin, it has a 16 minute drum solo that is unbelievable. Best album ever is The Wall by Pink Floyd, it is so incredible they even made a movie about it, and it is very crazy. On a side note, a good theme song for the Cincinnati Reds would be "We are the Champions" by Queen. The Reds will truly be champions in October after they sweep the Red Sox in the World Series.  Finally, have any of you ever heard the song Tarantula by smashing Pumpkins, its really good, you should check it out sometime if you haven't already. Any suggestions for a future music blog?

Power Rankings/Spring Outlook. Day 2.

  • Ok, I decided I would to power rankings hopefully once a week all season. I will try not to make these biased in any way. Feel free to post any thoughts.
  •
  •
  • This week is more of my preseason out look and I probably won’t have this much description all year.
  •
  •
  • 30. Baltimore Orioles: They have no pitching now that they have traded Bendard and their lineup sucks besides Roberts. To add to their troubles; their new ace (Jeremy Guthrie) only has seven career wins.
  •
  •
  • 29. San Francisco Giants: Behind Zito they have no pitching. The only plus is them adding Rowand in the offseason, but he can change this teams fait.
  •
  •
  • 28. Florida Marlins: The loss of the D-Train and Cabrera is just too much. Now their pitching is let by a guy named Scott Olsen.
  •
  •
  • 27. Pittsburg Pirates: Looks like another losing season this year.
  •
  •
  • 26. Washington Nationals: They still have a lot to prove, but they do have a lot of potential
  •
  •
  • 25. Texas Rangers: They may have a halfway decent lineup, but besides Millwood their pitching stinks.
  •
  •
  • 24. Minnesota Twins: The loss of Santana is going to hurt them too much. They still have a lot of talent in their lineup, but not enough pitching to back them up.
  •
  •
  • 23. Oakland As: They have a ton of great prospects, but nothing for this year.
  •
  •
  • 22. Tampa Bay Rays: Yes just rays; they have dropped the devil part. They are getting better maybe they can finish above .500 this year. It would be the first time in franchise history they would do that though.
  •
  •
  • 21. St Louis Cardinals: Chris Carpenter is out to mid season so their rotation will be anchored with Wainwright.
  •
  •
  • 20. Kansas City Royals: They are starting to have a decent rotation and Gordon and Butler are the teams bats, so this team is starting to look good.
  •
  •
  • 19. San Diego Padres: Their pitching is good for the most part, but their lineup is pretty shaky. Edmonds is basically done and they manly have young guys besides Gonzalaz.
  •
  •
  • 18. Philedphia Phillies: They have a solid lineup, but their pitching isn’t that good. I also hard somewhere that their closer Brad Lidge was having knee problems.
  •
  •
  • 17. Houston Astros: Their pitching (seems like I keep complaining about pitching) is terrible. They only have Oswalt the rest is a little shaky. They do have a lot of talent in the lineup, so look out for their big hitters.
  •
  •
  • 16. Chicago White Sox: They are a good team, but with the Tigers and the Indians in their division I don’t except much out of them.
  •
  •
  • 15. Cincinnati Reds: I guess this is as high as I can put my Reds. Their lineup is excellent besides their catcher (David Ross), but it’s their pitching that worries me. They have so many young guys I am not sure what to expect out of them, but on a plus side Cordano is a great closer and we shouldn’t have any problems in the later innings anymore.
  •
  •
  • 14. Toronto Blue Jays: Good team, but with the Yankees and Red Sox in their division; I don’t expect a lot out of them.
  •
  •
  • 13. Atlanta Braves: This team is getting to old. The whole team is a ton of old veterans. They need to get some young talent and look ahead a little bit.
  •
  •
  •  12. Colorado Rockies:  With the loss of Matsui, they have a hole to fill at 2nd, but they still have a ton of big bats in the lineup with Helton, Holliday and Atkins. Not to mention Tulowitzki.
  •
  •
  • 11. Los Angeles Angels: This is going to a very good team this year. They have depth in their lineup and the acquisition of Tori Hunter was the perfect move.
  •
  •
  • 10. Los Angeles Dodgers: They got the pitching and the speed in their lineup, but last year they were lacking the power, but with the addition of Andrew Jones they should be getting some help there.
  •
  •
  • 9. Arizona Diamondbacks: Best in the NL west. They have a solid Rotation led by Webb and solid hitters in Young, S. Drew, and Upton. Plus I cant forgot to mention Eric Byrnes.
  •
  •
  •
  •
  • 8. Milwaukee Brewers: Price Fielder, Weeks, Braun and Hall in the lineup, but they will only be a real contender if Sheets can stay healthy all season.
  •
  •
  • 7. Seattle Mariners: They may have over paid for Bedard, but the team is solid. Ichiro will have at least 200 hits and King Felix with 15 wins plus closer JJ Putz had 40 saves last season.
  •
  •
  • 6 Chicago Cubs: Great hitting. Great Pitching. Clearly the one of the best teams in the NL.
  •
  •
  • 5. Detroit Tigers: The acquisition of Cabrera and the D-Train made a good team even better.
  •
  •
  • 4. New York Yankees: A Team of all-stars and a few future Hall of Famers(yes I am talking about Jeter. When his career is over I believe he belongs in the Hall of Fame) Plus this team has a solid rotation led by Wang.
  •
  •
  • 3. New York Mets: With both Santana and Pedro on this team I don’t see what they can’t do. Plus Reyes, Wright, Beltron, Delgado this team is definitely not short on great bats.
  •
  •
  • 2. Boston Red Sox: Beckett and Dice-K leading off the rotation and great hitters in Elsbury and Pedroia to lead off followed by Big Papi and Manny. This team is unbelievable.
  •
  •
  • 1. Cleveland Indians: My favorite to win it all and why not? They have Sizemore, Martinez and Hafner powering up the offence and Sabathia leading the pitching. This team will be unstoppable.

My $32.98 mistake.

Ok all of you should know I am a big NASCAR fan. (If you don't look at my avaitor or read my username) So, I bought NASCAR 08 for PS2 back last Augest and have played it almost everyday since. A lot more now since I am getting back into the racing mood. It has acumilated a ton of scratches(and the scratches has stoped it from working good) , so I tried using a scratch remover. It was like a pecil that put some kind of black wax or something on it. So I rubbed the pencil stuff on it and then wiped it off with a tiisue. Instead of removeing the scratch it placed more scratches on it. I should have knowned then that it wasn't going to work, but I tried it again. It got even worse. Now there is a big scratched and it wont play at all. Luckly my profile will be saved on my memory card, so I dont have to start over again. Target sells the game for $29.99 and with tax it comes to around $32.99. (yeah NY has a pretty big sales tax.) So I will buy another instead of waiting to Augest when NASCAR 09 comes out.

I really could use that spell check now.
