The Daily Shoutout

MOCK OWNERSHIP VOTE: Yes, I have too much time on my hands, but this is actually instructive. After speaking with people around the league this is how some in football think the ownership vote would go for a new collective bargaining agreement as its being currently constructed.

Patriots--yes
Jets--yes
Dolphins--yes
Bills--no
Steelers--yes
Ravens--yes
Browns--yes
Bengals--no
Colts--yes
Jaguars--unknown
Texans--yes
Titans--yes
Chiefs--yes
Chargers--yes
Raiders--who knows
Broncos--yes
Eagles--yes
Giants--yes
Cowboys--no
Redskins--no
Bears--yes
Packers--yes
Lions--yes
Vikings--yes
Falcons--yes
Saints--yes
Bucs--yes
Panthers--yes
Seahawks--yes
Rams--yes
49ers--yes
Cardinals--yes

I've got four no votes. Say the "who know" and "unknown" both go no. That's still only six no votes. Say I got two owners wrong (I don't think I did) and there were two additional no votes that's still only eight no votes. Owners wanting to block a new deal would need nine.

I put Carolina as a yes despite hard ass Jerry Richardson owning the team because Richardson has been heavily involved in the talks with players. I don't see him voting against a deal he so heavily constructed.

With respected owners like Robert Kraft and John Mara backing a new agreement and hawk Richardson perhaps being a convert, this deal likely passes. Emphasis on likely since you ultimately never know how these votes will go. But I think owners actually pass a new CBA fairly easily.

See you Tuesday.
