Dufner cool in pocket, like his old mentor

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. -- Jason Dufner might be a cool customer, at least in part, because of the company he used to keep.

As a kid growing up in South Florida, he was a member of the same club as NFL star Dan Marino, who took the young Dufner under his wing.

Here's how Dufner explained their friendship a few months ago:
"I used to caddie for him in pro-ams," Dufner said. "He was always a pretty good player, pretty serious about his game, even when he was playing. I'm not sure. I haven't seen him in a while, so, you know, he kind of -- I played with him every once in a while and caddied with him, so that was just a cool experience to be in that environment and be close to that at a young age.

"You get to know that these guys are pretty normal guys, just like everybody else but they're extremely talented as an athlete or actor or whatever, so I think it was good for me to experience that at a young age."
