Anderson/Watkins stocking Missouri's program

MaxPreps.com updated its team recruiting rankings for the Class of 2010 after Wednesday's developments.

The Top 10 mostly consists of traditional powers.
  1. Memphis
  2. Ohio State
  3. North Carolina
  4. Kentucky
  5. Michigan State
  6. Syracuse
  7. Duke
  8. Tennessee
  9. Wake Forest
  10. Missouri
What's interesting on this list is that UK moved into the top five with the addition of Brandon Knight, and the Wildcats could move higher -- perhaps up to No. 1 -- if they sign some combination of Terrence Jones, C.J. Leslie and Doron Lamb. Meanwhile, WFU remained in the top 10, but the coaching change will almost certainly affect that in time. And then there's Missouri with its six-player class that's the best Mike Anderson has ever signed.

Anderson has had the reputation of somebody who can make a team better than its parts dating to his days at UAB, but now he's starting to get better parts thanks, in part, to associate head coach Melvin Watkins. A look at Missouri's class shows that three of the signees -- Tony Mitchell, Phil Pressey and Matt Pressey -- are from Texas, otherwise known as familar territory for Watkins, the former head coach at Texas A&M. He was also the point man in the recruitment of Ricardo Ratliffe, the nation's top junior college prospect who committed to Missouri last weekend. So Watkins has been doing good work, and it's one of the reasons Missouri seems set to be good for a while.
