UCF lands first commitment of 2011

UCF's surprisingly great season got even better early Saturday when Michael Chandler, a consensus top 100 prospect from Indianapolis, committed to the Knights, according to multiple media reports.

The development was first reported by ESPN.com recruiting analyst Dave Telep.

"What sold me was coach [Donnie] Jones," Chandler told Scout.com recruiting analyst Evan Daniels. "I've built a great relationship with him and with the teammates, and my mom has built a great relationship with coach Jones also."

Rivals.com ranks Chandler 47th in the Class of 2011.

Scout.com has him ranked No. 84.

UCF is actually the third school to which Chandler has committed, joining Louisville and Xavier on the list of programs that have received a verbal from the 6-foot-10 center. So a little skepticism about whether he ever enrolls is probably fair. But, for what it's worth, Chandler swore this is his final decision.

"I know I have said this before, but I will sign with UCF," Chandler told Daniels. "This is by far the best decision for me."

UCF is 13-0 and ranked 19th nationally.

The Knights open C-USA play on Wednesday against Marshall.
