Dantheman's Bracketology: March 9th (Morning)

My new bracketology is out but before you check out the seedings below there's a few things you need to know. The first and most important thing is that this is JUST the seedings. The complete matchups, bracket, and regions are available here .

NOTE: The only difference between these seedings and my pairings is that I could not locate the North Dakota State logo here on CBS, so instead I used Oakland for the seedings. It doesn't matter at this point because the auto bid has not been handed out for the Summit League just yet.

Conference Tournaments: Summit League

I am going to preview every single conference tournament one by one. Instead of what I initially started I am going to do them all on separate blog entries because I feel like this will give everyone a chance to discuss these conference tournaments. It will give them a home where everyone can join in and post their thoughts. Please comment.

First Round: March 7th
#1 North Dakota State vs. #8 Centenary
#4 IUPUI vs. #5 Southern Utah
#3 Oakland vs. #6 IPFW
#2 Oral Roberts vs. #7 South Dakota State

Quarterfinals: March 9th

Championship: March 10th

Prediction: North Dakota State has been the best team in the conference all season long. Sadly I do not have their logo to display, but I am on a hunt to find it. This preview is a little late, considering Oral Roberts has already been knocked out in round one.

BRACKETOLOGY: I do promise it is coming tonight. Last night I did not get a chance to post it and I apologize. Tonight I will. Lots of changes created a lot of havoc.

Dantheman's New Bracketology: Coming Tonight!

Just wanted to let everyone know that my new bracketology will be coming out tonight, although it may be late for some of the other east coasters (like myself) out there. Some of today's early scores have changed quite a bit in the bracket. I plan on having a live chat (like I did last time) for people that want to join in and chat with me about the bracket. This time I hope to be more available to answering questions than I was last time.

Here's some of the burning questions tonight's bracket will help answer:

How does Penn State's loss to Iowa affect the Nittany Lions?
Does this bad loss (the Nittany Lions first) really do enough damage to knock them out of my latest field? A bad loss was really the only thing Penn State couldn't afford at this time and it will bite them, but how much?

How does today's SEC action (Florida win over UK, Auburn's upset win over LSU) affect the field?
Is Auburn, dare I say Auburn, moving towards a NCAA Tournament at large bid? The Tigers dominated LSU on Saturday, proving that they are actually for real.  Does today's loss eliminate Kentucky from bubble contention, and what does the victory do for Florida's NCAA Tournament chances?

Is Pittsburgh a lock for a #1 seed now?
How about I answer this one now? Pittsburgh is going to be a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. I don't see how they can't be. After today's win over Connecticut the Panthers now have two wins over #1 teams (although both were Connecticut) and a gaudy 27-3 record to go along with playing the nation's 10th hardest schedule. They are also #1 in the RPI.

Conference Tournaments: Big Sky

I am going to preview every single conference tournament one by one. Instead of what I initially started I am going to do them all on separate blog entries because I feel like this will give everyone a chance to discuss these conference tournaments. It will give them a home where everyone can join in and post their thoughts. Please comment.

First Round: March 6th
#4 Idaho State vs. #5 Northern Colorado
#3 Montana vs. #6 Montana State

Quarterfinals: March 10th
#4/5 vs. #1 Weber State
#3/6 vs. #2 Portland State

Championship: March 11th

Prediction: Weber State won the Big Sky and looks like the team to beat in the Big Sky Tournament, but they aren't. Ask Gonzaga about how good Portland State is. I expect PSU to win this conference tournament and get the auto bid, but when everyone is in the same boat (everyone needing to win to get in) things tend to get a little crazy. Cinderellas aside Portland State is the true team to beat.

Conference Tournaments: WCC

I am going to preview every single conference tournament one by one. Instead of what I initially started I am going to do them all on separate blog entries because I feel like this will give everyone a chance to discuss these conference tournaments. It will give them a home where everyone can join in and post their thoughts. Please comment.

First Round: March 6th
#5 San Diego vs. #8 Loyola-Marymount
#6 Pepperdine vs. #7 San Francisco

Quarterfinals: March 7
#5/8 vs. #4 Santa Clara
#6/7 vs. #3 Portland

Semifinals: March 8
Winner 5/8/4 vs. #1 Gonzaga
Winner 6/7/3 vs. #2 Saint Marys

Championship: March 9

Prediction: Gonzaga has dominated the WCC once again, rolling through the regular season unscathed. They can thank Saint Mary's Patty Mills for that. The Gaels have a healthy Mills back but lost so much without him that they likely need to win the WCC Tournament to get into the NCAA Tournament field. Saint Marys outplayed Gonzaga with Mills on the floor, but I still have to go with the Zags.

Conference Tournament Previews: Southern

I am going to preview every single conference tournament one by one. Instead of what I initially started I am going to do them all on separate blog entries because I feel like this will give everyone a chance to discuss these conference tournaments. It will give them a home where everyone can join in and post their thoughts. Please comment.

First Round: March 6th
#4 Appalachian State vs. #5 Georgia Southern
#3 Charleson vs. #6 UNC-Greensboro
#4 Wofford vs. #5 Elon
#3 Samford vs. #6 Furman

Quarterfinals: March 7
#4/5 vs. #1 Davidson
#3/6 vs. #2 Western Carolina
#4/5 vs. #1 Chattanooga
#3/6 vs. #2 Citadel

Semifinals: March 8

Championship: March 9

Prediction: Just like Siena in the MAAC, Davidson is huge favorites in the Southern Conference Tournament. Stephen Curry can find his touch at any moment and light any of his opponents in this tournament up. Beware though, both the College of Charleson and The Citadel have wins over Davidson this year. Those two losses by the Wildcats prove that it can be done. I think Davidson knows how important this tournament is and gets the job done.

Conference Tournament Previews: MAAC

I am going to preview every single conference tournament one by one. Instead of what I initially started I am going to do them all on separate blog entries because I feel like this will give everyone a chance to discuss these conference tournaments. It will give them a home where everyone can join in and post their thoughts. Please comment.

First Round: March 6th
#8 Loyola vs. #9 Canisius
#7 Iona vs. #10 Marist

Quarterfinals: March 7
#8/9 vs. #1 Siena
#4 Manhattan vs. #5 Fairfield
#3 Rider vs. #6 St. Peters
#7/10 vs. #2 Niagara

Semifinals: March 8

Championship: March 9

Prediction: Siena is the overwhelming favorite to win the MAAC. If the Saints fail to do so then they will likely be playing in the NIT, which is unfortunate for a team that is clearly one of the nation's best mid majors. Niagara has a win over Siena and a pretty good team, so don't be surprised of Niagara pulls a MAAC Championship game stunner. If you're a betting man put your money on Siena. They know how important this tournament is.
