Elite 8 Rankings and Predictions

 Ranking the Elite 8:

 1. Louisville Cardinals: It took them 2 Rounds to heat up, but when they heat up, usually the team their playing is dead meat. The could've easily beaten Arizona by 50. They didn't because they started subbing halfway through the second half, usally a team up by 30 with Ten to go and already subbing would only win by 10, they won by 39. They look like the best team in the nation, they are the best team in the nation.

2.  North Carolina Tar Heels:  It's going to mess up my bracket if they get to the final, but if Louisville and North Carolina make it to the final, it mught be better than last years Championship.

3. Villanova Wildcats

4. Oklahoma Sooners

5. Connecticut Huskies

6. Michigan State Spartans

7. Pittsburgh Panthers

8. Missouri Tigers

Connecticut 97 vs. Missouri 85

Louisville 84 vs. Michigan State 75

North Carolina 89 vs. Oklahoma 86

Villanova 81 vs. Pittsburgh 76

Upset Meter (Round 2)

After a staggering 10 upsets in round one.... round 2 returns with 1 upset. And the last one i wanted. Purdue over Washington.

Leaving us at 11 upsets for the NCAA Tournament so far. There were 13 upsets last year. Could there be less this year? Yes. Easily. But yes there could be alot more upsets still this year than last year.

I think there could be an upset in almost all of the sweet sixteen games. I think UofL will have an easy trip to the Elite 8 though.
I also think Pitt will beat Xavier easily, along with Uconn and Purdue, and UNC and Gonzaga. They all have overrated teams their playing against in my opinion. Maybe Arizona is a little underrated, for their seeding.

I think Syracuse will beat Oklahoma, and Kansas and Villanova will defeat Duke and Michigan State. So yes their could still could be a fare amount of upsets.

I think once again all 4 #1 seeds can make the Final 4... but will they? And in my opinion.. NO. I think theirs a better chance that none of them make it rather then all of them. In the Elite 8, i think kansas can beat UofL, Syracuse or Oklahoma can beat UNC, Duke or Villanova can beat Pitt, and Memphis can beat Connecticut.

Here are the teams i think can still run for the title from 1-16: (ranked from most favorable to least)

  1. North Carolina
  2. Louisville
  3. Memphis
  4. Conncecticut
  5. Pittsburgh
  6. Villanova
  7. Kansas
  8. Syracuse
  9. Michigan State
  10. Missouri
  11. Oklahoma
  12. Duke
  13. Gonzaga
  14. Purdue
  15. Xavier
  16. Arizona

Upset Meter (Round 1)

Upset Winners:
Siena (9)
Texas A&M (9)
Michigan (10)
Maryland (10)
Southern California (10)
Dayton (11)
Western Kentucky (12)
Wisconsin (12)
Arizona (12)
Cleveland State (13)

Total: 10

Last years round 1 upsets: 8

Last years total upsets: 13

10 upsets in round one 2 more than last year, and could very well beat last years total upsets today.

Possible upsets in round 2:
Cleveland State over Arizona
Southern California over Michigan State
Purdue over Washington
Michigan over Oklahoma
Arizona State over Syracuse
LSU over North Carolina
Western Kentucky over Gonzaga
Texas over Duke
UCLA over Villanova
Wisconsin over Xavier

Other games i did not mention:

Pitt and OKST: Pitt didn't play well at all on friday, but OKST did. So shouldn't that be a possible upset, yes and no. If Pitt plays their best like i would expect their coach to get them ready. OKST doesn't have a chance. I think after that performance, Pitt will have their wake up call and be playing like their supposed to.

Louisvile: UofL played extremely well coming down the strech last night. They looked like the best team in the country and right now i think they are the best team in the country. Siena is a good team and could be a dark horse to beat them but UofL has to much energy. Siena is still hyped up after that game against Ohio State and will not fare well against UofL on Sunday.

Uconn and TX A&M: Though TX AM can beat good teams. Calhoun is back and Uconn is going to make him feel alot better by destroying TX AM. If Calhoun wasn't playing i think they could've had an off night and not had the energy they can have, they would've been on the Posible upsets list.

Memphis and Maryland: This was the hardest game to choose. I think that this game is going to be on many people's upset watches. But, i think that if Memphis can play their best it will be an easy win over Maryland. Obviously Maryland can beat good teams. I think Maryland is going to have a hard time keeping up with Memphis and their great defense.

A Glance at the Big 10

Glance at the Big Ten-

Quick thouhgts/statements-

  • All but 2 of the Big Ten teams have winning records, neither of the two are Northwestern or Penn State.
  • Michigan State has won at least a tie of the Big Ten regular Season Title
  • Seven of the eleven teams have been ranked in the Top 25. Penn State was in Top 30, recieving votes after defeating Michigan State
  • There has been as many as 8 Big Ten teams in the tournament from bracketolgists.

My Predictions:

Tournament Winner:

Three teams that are looking to upset, and win their way into the tourney for sure.

Minnesota: As we learned at Kentucky, never under estimate Tubby's team. We know they can beat high-quality teams, but lately they've been slipping and are on the outside looking in.

Michigan: Michigan has two great wins in non-conference play, but has been struggling in conference play. They beat UCLA and Duke, so don't be suprised if they were to take out Purdue, Michigan State or Illinois in their conference tourney.

Penn State: This team could be a top 25 team or they could be at the bottom of the conference with Indiana. Really their fate is up to them. They don't have any terrible losses though, only to Rhode Island, they can't seem to decide if their a pretender or a contender.

Locks:

Teams that are likely but not locks:

Teams that are probably in:

As of now are out:

NCAAF - Iowa Hawkeyes NCAAB - Indiana Hoosiers NCAAB - Northwestern Wildcats
