SEC Expansion Ideal #2

Now that Colorado has joined the Pac 10 and Nebraska seems to be heading to the Big 10. I wonder what SEC Commissioner Mike Slive has up his sleeve.

The thing I realized after my previous blog about SEC Expansion was that you have to think about the t.v. market. You want more viewers therefore you don't want to go out and grab teams from just one area. Therefore I came up with this idea....

Maybe the SEC could break down to 4 groups of 6 teams instead of 2 groups of 6 teams.

The SEC could add these teams from the Big 12....

Texas

Texas A&M

Baylor

Oklahoma St

Oklahoma

Texas Tech

Then the SEC could go out to the east and grab....

Florida State

Miami

Clemson

Virginia Tech

Bring back Georgia Tech

North Carolina

This would not only benefit college football but college basketball. Kentucky and North Carolina battling it out for king of the SEC.

Here's how the teams would be grouped...

SEC East

Florida

Georgia

Tennessee

Kentucky

South Carolina

Vanderbilt

SEC West

Alabama

LSU

Ole Miss

Arkansas

Auburn

Miss. St.

SEC Far West

Texas

Texas A&M

Baylor

Oklahoma St

Oklahoma

Texas Tech

SEC Far East

Florida State

Miami

Clemson

Virginia Tech

Bring back Georgia Tech

North Carolina

There's 12 games you can play in a season. The teams would 5 games in their group. For example Alabama would have to play LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, Miss. St. which is what they always do. That leaves 7 games. Then you add rival teams which Alabama always plays Tennessee. That leaves 6 games. Then you play 2 teams from each group. For example Alabama would play Texas, Texas Tech... Florida State, Miami... Florida (Tennessee) That leaves 1 team to play as non conference games.

Then you would have 2 championship games. For example the Far West winner would play the East winner. The Far East would play the East winner... then you would have the SEC Championship....

Here's an example....

Alabama's football schedule...

LSU

Ole Miss

Arkansas

(throw in non conference game)

Miss. St.

Tennessee

Florida

Texas Tech

Texas

Florida State

Miami

Auburn

SEc Championship

Alabama vs Florida  (Alabama wins)

Texas vs Virginia Tech  (Texas wins)

SEC Expansion

Lately the only thing making the news in NCAA Football is Conference Expansions. A lot of sports writers and fans are talking about which teams they'd like for their conferences to add.

My favorite conference is the SEC. If I were over the SEC I'd like to add...

Florida State

Miami

Clemson

Virginia Tech

And this is what the conference would be...

SEC East

Clemson

Georgia

Florida

Florida State

Miami

South Carolina

Vanderbilt

Virginia Tech

SEC West

Alabama

Arkansas

Auburn

Kentucky

LSU

Ole Miss

Miss. St.

Tennessee

Georgia (Mark Richt)

I don't understand why so many Georgia fans want Mark Richt gone. The power of the SEC East is about to change... Last year Georgia lost a lot of players and a couple of them were leaders of the team. You kinda have to expect this to be Georgia's rebuilding year. This is Tim Tebow's last year for the Florida Gators. The next two years Florida will be going through a rebuilding year. That leaves the door open for South Carolina, Georgia, or Tennessee to step up and grab the SEC East. If Georgia fires or makes major moves that will set their program back another three years. Instead I think everyone should be standing behind their coaches so they don't lose any recruits.

Bama vs Florida (I AINT Scared Nor Should You Be)

Alabama loses to Florida last year in the SEC Championship game... it helped give this young Tide team experience and wanting a rematch. This has been their biggest goal since losing to Florida last year is to make it back to Atlanta and so far they've achieved their goal. All they need now is a win. They've tasted this moment on their lips all season long. Alabama wants it... wants it bad...

Alabama barely beating Auburn Tigers... That was a wakeup game. Perhaps Alabama was over looking Florida Gators. They had one less day to prepare for the game and it was the day after Thanksgiving. There was a lot of distractions. Alabama did a great job overcoming everything and coming away with a win. Their offense is complicated... takes some time to plan against... hostile environment from the remaining fans that didn't sell their tickets.

Florida vs Florida St game does not scare me... The big win against Florida State and Alabama barely beating Auburn will play a big distraction to the Florida Gators. Georgia beats Georgia Tech... South Carolina beats Clemson.. That shows the SEC is strong.

Nick Saban will have his team prepared... The Crimson Tide will be ready... this is the moment they've been waiting for... this will be their MOMENT to dethrone Gators.

"I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord... And I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh Lord... can you feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord, Oh Lord....well if you told me you were drowning I would not lend a hand... I've seen your face before my friend, but I don't know if you know who I am... well I was there and I saw what you did.. I saw it with my own two eyes... so you can wipe off that grin... I know where you've been... it's all been a pack of lies... and I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord.... well I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, Oh Lord... I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord... Well I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, Oh Lord, Oh Lord..."

Will The Real #1 Please Stand Up

IF I had a vote for who should be #1 and the National Championship I'd leave #1 blank until a playoff is established for NCAA football. Utah, Florida, USC, Oklahoma, and Texas have a good arguement at why they should be #1. It should be decided on the field not politics or who brings the most money in... or votes... computers. etc. People are bias and computers are machines that can make mistakes or controlled by humans and can have human error. The bottom line is that those five teams should face off and let it then be decided who's the real number one team in the country.

Hold Yer Head Up

Hold your head up Alabama. I'm so proud of my team. Nobody expected Alabama to be 12-1 and heading into the Sugar Bowl. I've never seen another team wear Alabama out. After the Florida game you could see Alabama was tired and they did everything they could to win unlike the team in the past. There's nothing to be disappointed about. These seniors will be remembered for their character and leadership.

Roll Tide Roll!!

Steve Spurrier

It's time for Steve Spurrier to get some much needed heat. While at South Carolina he's under achieved. South Carolina is no better under Steve Spurrier as they were under Lou Holtz. Honestly when Steve Spurrier took the South Carolina job I figured by now they would be in competition for the SEC Championship but they're not. The only competition South Carolina is in right now is being the fourth best team in the SEC east. Steve Spurrier's NFL experience seems to changed him. He seems SOFT and not the same coach that coached the Gators.
