Conference allegiance is crap

You don't play for a conference.  You play for a team.
It kills me watching all the "SEC fans" rooting for UF.  You really think this helps your team somehow?  Yep, those 5 star recruits are really gonna start lining up for the chance to play against florida in jacksonville.  Give me a break.

OK, that said, I do have to admit that I think the Bowl Season did give some insight into the conference dominance argument.

Let's look at the statistics:

Big 12 goes 4 and 3 in bowl games.  Only ONE of those wins came against a team who finished ranked.  The top big 12 offenses are held well under their season averages.  Texas has the only big12 win against a ranked team, but they have to come from behind to win and they have their lowest scoring game of the year.

Contrast that with the Pac 10.  Undefeated in the bowl season, including 3 wins against teams that finished ranked.

Contrast that with the SEC.  6 and 2 in the bowl season including FOUR wins against teams that finished ranked. (and 2 wins against Big12 powerhouses).

From where I'm sitting (and I'm pretty much an expert: I played 4 seasons of flag football in college and 4 more years of coed flag football in grad school) it appears that the bowl games proved that, while the Big 12 is certainly a strong conference - the critics were right in suggesting that the Big 12 offenses wouldn't look nearly as dominant when playing against big time defenses.

All of that is to say, Gators eat boogers.
