Those Heroes That Are Not Zeroes

Whether striving for Olympic Gold or just the opportunity to represent their country; are there great and emotionally charged stories of  men and women who strove to represent with great grace and sportsmanship?

Who are the great heroes of the Olympics, or athletes who exhibited great court or sport gestures on the playing field or court in any venue or league separate from the Olympics?

Please share those team sagas or individual attributes that made an athlete or that team outstanding in the efforts to demonstrate court or sport gestures, gestures that gave us goosebumps.

Heroes Of The Court And Sports

Who are those great heroes that tug at our heart strings through gutty, gruelling and inspiring efforts on the court or in the sport?

Which athletes demonstrated class and grace and sportsmanship on the court or in the sport?

Is it Arthur Ashe or Willie Mays or Muhammad Ali, the horse, Secretariat or Chrissy Evert; perhaps Abibi Bikila, the great Ethiopian barefoot Olympian?

I would love to know your thoughts regarding those great athletes that exhibited great court or sports gestures or were involved in awe-inspiring events, not unlike the tremendous story of Texas Ranger outfielder, Josh Hamilton.

What is truly gut-wrenching or breathtaking about the courts and sports and the gestures of great athletes?
