The Tiger Report

As it seemed nothing could stop the Memphis Tigers new coach in his relentless search to lock down good talent into the Tiger Blue; that seems too have slowed a bit with the loss of possible Power Forward in Matt Pilgram from Kentucky who is now an Oklahoma State boy.

It seems that the tigers have a very promising season comming up and all that is required from here on out is for Josh Pastner & Company put in those hours to help these kids play better together(in some cases they nead to get in shape).

Now is The Time of Pastner

Just to answer the question no one seems to know here, there were other coaches and there were better coaches but these Memphis tigers end up with fresh meat, a noob, the rookie, or as some may say the man …Josh Pastner as their head coach. With John Calipari gone to another team of blue color it is time to rebuild.

Though the thought of rebuilding for one of the nations top programs is sad, it is just some peoples opinion. Most people who claim close ties with the Memphis Tigers and Pastner have been praising him and his abilities, as well as this some former tigers though not just transfers, some commits as well are excited about the possibilities. He has no college head coaching experience but, plenty of AAU curcuit experience and this kid really seems to understand the player psyche and could help with Willie Kemp for one. Only time will tell with this one here is to hoping those Memphis Tigers do not have to hire a new coach in 2 years.

If you needed to be filled in on whose who of the college basketball coaching association you can find a history lesson on this here device you are reading this but, just as a teaser here is what a real list of basketball coaches looks like.(With Josh Pastner used as the lowest possible choice.)

These are in no real order at all.

The Laird of Memphis

Though he might be mistaken for a manager who might be seen picking up towels after practice Preston Laird happens to be a player for the Memphis Tigers. This kid is a Memphis native who is working his way into the rotation. He happens to be gaining ground over other Tigers on the team. A decent showing from the kid who may become the next Root which is great because with Chance McGrady coming up to his final year, and Tiger Fans need some reason to stay late during a hometown blowout.

Memphis finally catches a break

Official the ncaa has cleared Matt Simpkins to play as of december 4, 2008. Now we await whether they clear Angel Garcia who i believe john calipari might be trying to convince to leave, that mostly has to do with a recruit/scholarship issue the memphis tigers have coming up next year.

Also C.Henry should be ready to practice soon. I cannot wait to watch the Chris Henry, Willie Kemp, Wesley Witherspoon rotation, that should be interesting to see who performs the best in that possible point guard rotation. I hope my boy Willie comes around and shuts up his critics, he really seems to have confidence issues at times like he is simply psycheing himself out, but when comes down to it he has come through.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN MEMPHIS?

Since when does Memphis or Memphians for that matter listen to the media/crybaby BCS fanboys. I mean to tell you something crazy is happening in Memphis and everyone who is in the know is talking about what conference we are moving to next.

For those who have not heard yet it is supposedly the BIG EAST, I for one am happy to see my program moving up to the BCS ranks but would have done it on my own terms. The BIG EAST is a greater conference for bball and good conference for football, but not a pack full of power house schools like the SEC or BIG 12, which fits the Tigers alot better then a conference that will have my school traveling to all side of our great country known as the United States of America.

Please let me know what you think about the EAST and whether you would have gone for a different conference. I might be officially back on this web site after my time off and will try to give weekly if not daily Memphis Tigers sports news and insight.
