Josh Hamilton/Edinson Volquez Trade Impact

There has been much debate about the Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers trade of Josh Hamilton for Edinson Volquez as both players are currently in the running for MVP and Cy Young in their respective leagues. BOTH teams have said that they have come out the "winner" of this trade, however I have to wonder which team is REALLY going to win.

Personally, I think that the Texas Rangers will be the biggest winner in this trade on the individual basis as I think that Hamilton has the ability to perform at the top level for many years and I am looking for him to be an All Star for many years.  He has the 5x5 tools to be a future first round fantasy pick for many years to come, however I think that people next year will be reluctant to take him inside of the first 30 picks based on his nonexistent history in the league.

As a team, I think that the winner becomes the Reds as I think that they now become a contender in the weaker NL Central division as their rotation now contains Aaron Harang, Volquez, Bronson Arroyo and as of tonight Homer Bailey.  With their offensive strength I think that this team will contend for years to come.

Fantasy Baseball - Picking Up Clayton Kershaw

Today, for some reason, I was able to pick up Clayton Kershaw without having to use a waiver priority.  This move ended up dropping Boof Bonser who I was tempted to hold onto because of his extreme "sleeper" tag for this year but the slow start was just too much to handle and Kershaw's first game was very good.

This move gives me a rotation of: C.C. Sabathia, Justin Verlander, Javier Vazquez, Roy Oswalt, Matt Cain, Ted Lilly, Shawn Hill and Clayton Kershaw which I would think is more than enough to help make my 35 inning minimum every single week.
