Vote For Your Favorite Songs - J Bands, Part 2

Thanks to each and every one of you who have been on my blog voting for your favorite songs.  The more response I get the more I look forward to doing my next entry.  Great songs make for good conversations and bring back great memories.  This particular entry is going to list 114 songs.  That is the most of any entry of done to this point.   I anticipate good participation on this particular entry, and I hope you guys don't let me down.

Speaking of good participation, the voting on the G bands was among the most popular vote to date.   I asked for 4 votes which many of you found difficult with all of the quality songs on that list.   Here are the four songs that advance to a playoff round from the G bands...

  1. Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot
  2. American Woman - The Guess Who

There is just an insane list of hits from the bands Ji-Ju.  I'm sure I missed a few here, but I did the best I could.  The list is a combination of songs from my own music library and Wikipedia.  My rules are few.  You may vote for as many as 8 songs on my list or you can write in some of your own.  With 114 songs from 11 bands, I couldn't see restricting the number of votes to less than 8.

Vote For Your Favorite Songs - H and I Bands

Hello to all my internet buddies!   Its time to vote for the best songs from the classic rock bands who start with the letters H and I.  You may find this one a little less challenging than the previous letters that we've already done.  I want to thank all of you who have voted and posted on my blog.  I appreciate the nice compliments that many of you have given too.

The voting for the E bands has gone on for nearly two weeks, so I'll cut that one off and announce the songs that will go on to the "Rock and Roll Playoffs"  I asked for 6 votes for the E bands and the top 6 vote getters were....

  1. Hotel California - Eagles
  2. Desperado - Eagles
  3. Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton
  4. Seven Bridges Road - Eagles
  5. Mr. Blue Sky - Electric Light Orchestra
  6. Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton.

To tell you the truth, there aren't many classic rock bands that start with the letters H and I and none of those bands would I call a super group.  I only have around 30 songs to list.  I may be missing something here, so feel free to do a write-in off the list.  The only artists that I have in my music library in this category are Harry Chapin, Heart, Head East and INXS.   Since there aren't as many songs to decide on this entry, I'm limiting the votes to 4.   So pick your 4 favorite songs from this list or any write-ins you may have....

  • Taxi - Harry Chapin
  • Sunday Morning Sunshine - Harry Chapin
  • W*O*L*D* - Harry Chapin
  • Cats in the Cradle - Harry Chapin
  • I Wanna Learn A Love Song - Harry Chapin
  • A Better Place to Be - Harry Chapin
  • 30,000 Pounds of Bananas - Harry Chapin
  • Dance Band on the Titanic - Harry Chapin
  • Sequel - Harry Chapin
  • Never Been Any Reason - Head East
  • Love Me Tonight - Head East
  • Magic Man - Heart
  • Crazy On You - Heart
  • Barracuda - Heart
  • Dreamboat Annie - Heart
  • Kick It Out - Heart
  • Heartless - Heart
  • Straight On - Heart
  •  Dog and the Butterfly - Heart
  • Even It Up - Heart
  • These Dreams - Heart
  • You Need Tonight - INXS
  • Devil Inside - INXS
  • The One Thing - INXS
  • Original Sin - INXS
  • What You Need - INXS
  • New Sensation - INXS
  • Need You Tonight - INXS
  • Suicide Blonde - INXS
  • Disappear - INXS

If you haven't voted on the F or G bands yet, there is still time.  There's a link on this page to get to those blog entries so that you can vote.

Vote For Your Favorite Songs - The G Bands

As always, I want to thank everyone who has participated and posted on my blog.  I meant to do the G bands several days ago, but work got really busy and I just didn't have the time to post it.

I can't let this particular day go by, September 11, without honoring and memorializing  the 3000+ unknowing martyrs who's lives were sacrificed 7 years ago today.  It was the saddest and most horrifying day as an American that I've experienced in my lifetime, so I know that for those who lost loved ones from the dispicable acts of the terrorists it was a life changing disaster.  That being said, RIP to those who died in the terrorist attacks and KUDOs to our men and women serving in our armed forces.

I've cut off the voting for the songs of the D bands.   We voted for up to 7.  Eight songs will advance as there was a four way tie for the final three spots and I don't wish to do a special vote just to eliminate one song.   Here are the songs that will advance to a later round....

  1. American Pie - Don McLean
  2. Space Oddity - David Bowie
  3. Layla - Derek and the Dominoes
  4. Riders on the Storm - The Doors
  5. What a Fool Believes - The Doobie Brothers
  6. Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
  7. Boys of Summer - Don Henley
  8. Light My Fire - The Doors

There aren't that many G bands however the ones I have in this list were some good ones.   This isn't a particularly long list so lets vote for up to 4 songs in this category.  I considered listing songs by Green Day as I really like that group, however, I'm trying to keep this limited to classic rock/pop which is mainly pre-1990 rock songs.  If you wish to write in a Green Day song or any G band rock and roll song that isn't on my list, feel free to do so.   Here's my list of G band songs.    Vote for up to 4.

  • Turn It On Again - Genesis
  • Invisible Touch - Genesis
  • Mama - Genesis
  • Land of Confusion - Genesis
  • I Can't Dance - Genesis
  • Follow You, Follow Me - Genesis
  • Hold On My Heart - Genesis
  • Abacab - Genesis
  • No Son of Mine - Genesis
  • Tonight, Tonight, Tonight - Genesis
  • In Too Deep - Genesis
  • Jesus He Knows Me - Genesis
  • Thats All - Genesis
  • Misunderstanding - Genesis
  • Throwing it All Away - Genesis
  • The Carpet Crawlers - Genesis
  • Smuggler's Blues - Glen Fry
  • Radar Love - Golden Earring
  • Twilight Zone - Golden Earring
  • Carefree Highway - Gordon Lightfoot
  • Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot
  • Rainy Day People - Gordon Lightfoot
  • Truckin' - Grateful Dead
  • Rosemary - Grateful Dead
  • Sugar Magnolia - Grateful Dead
  • St. Stephen - Grateful Dead
  • Uncle John's Band - Grateful Dead
  • Casey Jones - Grateful Dead
  • Mexicali Blues - Grateful Dead
  • Turn on Your Love Light - Grateful Dead
  • One More Saturday Night - Grateful Dead
  • Friend of the Devil - Grateful Dead
  • These Eyes - Guess Who
  • Undun - Guess Who
  • American Woman - Guess Who
  • Clap For the Wolfman - Guess Who
  • No Sugar Tonight (New Mother Nature) - Guess Who
  • Share the Land - Guess Who
  • Welcome to the Jungle - Guns and Roses
  • Its So Easy - Guns and Roses
  • Night Train - Guns and Roses
  • Mr. Brownstone - Guns and Roses
  • Paradise City - Guns and Roses
  • My Michelle - Guns and Roses
  • Sweet Child O Mine - Guns and Roses
  • You're Crazy - Guns and RosesDream Weaver - Gary Wright (no relation to Lazer_Wright)

Although this list is much shorter than some of my previous ones, there are many great songs on this list and I think you'll find whittling your choices down to 4 may be quite a challenge.   So I'll post my votes and you may all post yours also.  If you haven't voted for the E or F bands feel free to do so.   When I do the H bands, that will be the cut-off for voting on the E bands.

Vote For Your Favorite Songs - The F Bands

Greetings to all my internet buddies.   I want to render a big Thank you! to those of you who have read and participated in my fun little rock and roll blog.  We've made it to the 6th letter of the alphabet now.   If you haven't voted for your favorite songs in the D bands or the E bands, feel free to do so.   Now that nobody has posted a vote on the C bands for a week now, I'll declare the four songs that received the most votes that will move on the the "Rock and Roll Song Post Season"  The four songs that made the cut were....

I'm going to list 50 songs from rock and roll bands that start with the letter "F"  Remember, this list is not complete, just a list of songs that made a stir on the charts.   You may vote for these songs or any songs not listed as long as the band starts with "F" and is rock and roll.  There's not many "F" groups and this list is not nearly as extensive as the D or E bands, but I'll still be generous and allow up to 4 votes in the F band category.  My list is as follows.....

Vote For Your Favorite Songs - Letter E Bands

Thanks to everyone who has participated and voted on my past entries.  I'm finding this fun and apparently the rest of you have as well.  If you're just finding my blog  feel free to vote on the previous entries.  I'm letting the votes tally at least 10 days now before posting the apparent winners for each letter category.  Speaking of that, today is the tenth day since I posted the letter B, Part II and the projected winners are....

  • Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
  • More Than a Feeling - Boston
  • Living On a Prayer - Bon Jovi
  • Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen.

Reminder that voting is on classic rock and roll songs.  I don't have many E bands on my list but when 2 of them are the Eagles and Elton John, the list can still be long....and it is.  My list is exclusively from 5 bands this time; Eagles, Eddie Money, Electric Light Orchestra, Elton John and Eric Clapton.  I imagine some of you may be Elvis Presley or Elvis Costello fans and if you wish to vote for any of their songs, feel free to.  I've never been compelled to collect their music and although I could research it and add them to my list, the list would get way to long.  The list of songs by these five bands is not inclusive of all of their songs, but I did pick the cherry tree relatively clean.

Lets vote for as many as 6 favorite songs from this list or any other rock song from an E band.

Vote For Your Favorite Songs - The C Bands

First off I wish to thank everyone who has participated on my previous entries.  Tonight at midnight is the cutoff for voting on my first entry, bands who's names start with a number and the Letter A.  Cutoff for the vote on this poll will be midnight EST August 31st

Reminder, my library sorts my groups alphabetically by first name so don't be stressed out by not seeing Eric Clapton (he'll be in E's or Jim Croce (he'll be in J's).  I also want to remind you that this is NOT a complete list, just a condensed list.  If you wish to choose a song by a "C" band not on this list, feel free to do so.  The list is primarily my choice of most popular songs and to help you think.

My votes are for Drive by the Cars, With Arms Wide Open by Creed which in my opinion was the best song of the 90s, Higher by Creed which is also from their Human Clay CD and I'll reserve my fourth vote in the event of a tiebreaker or I'll pick it later.

Votes - Drive, The Cars - 1, With Arms Wide Open - Creed - 1, Higher, Creed - 1
