Life Sports and a little politics

Good day to all of my friends in the Life Sports blog! I know I havent been around for a long time and I apologize. Been really busy with work, life and what not. I really miss all of you guys and gals and hope all is well.
Lots to talk about since I last posted so lets get started.

Baseball?

If anyone has ever seen the Ken Burns docmentary BASEBALL, you know that the game of baseball has always been a reflection and even a microcosim of our society. It has shown how we have dealt with everything from race to economic inequity. We now have another "scandal" that will tarnish the game or at least Major League Baseball. Everyone can all debate the merits or usefulness of steriods or HGH. No one is sure if it helps you hit the ball higher or farther or if it adds an extra 5 mph to a fastball. What it has shown is our nations obsession with perfection. With the idea of being bigger, faster or stronger. Our pursuit with not only keeping up with the Jones', but being better than them. This same approach has lead our nation to this economic calamity we now face.  It is not known if this will prevent Bonds, Clemens, A-Rod or any of the other players who have been names (and yet to be named) from being denied access to Cooperstown. What is known is that baseball, like America, will survive because of the legacy of its past. It reminds us of an era gone by and that the hope that we could someday return to. Even if that era is just the one we have created in our own minds. Once again baseball is the mirror we stare into.

Just one man's though on the game that will always be our national pastime.

It's that time of year!  For me Christmas means:

• Decorating our three trees along with the rest of the house...
• Snow...
• Lots of good food...
• Stringing lights on trees outside in the cold...
• Traveling across the state for our extended family Christmas...
• Holiday music...
• Lots of parties and other enjoyable activities...
• Most of all, the joy and Christmas spirit in the air and wishing everyone you see "Merry Christmas!"

What does Christmas mean to you?  How do you usually celebrate?  What's your favorite part of the holiday season?  Please tell!
