Will somebody take him off our hands? He is owed entirely too much for the inconsistent stuff (and below average) pitching he brings to the table...
I would even be willing to pick up half of his 9+ million owed this year, just to give Sean Marshall a solid shot at pitching regularly. We have the depth to survive with the high end top of the rotation guys like (Zambrano, Dempster, Harden, Lilly).
Plus what about Rich Hill? I know his mental game has led to his downfall, but you gotta figure that he can get it together by Spring Training right??
Marmol, Gregg, Smardzja as the 1-2-3 knockout punch? Maybe..
As I see it, landing a solid everyday stong Left Handed bat to hit in the middle of the order (hopefully someone that can come through in the postseason) would complete this team.
Why has Bobby Abreu's name never come up in offseason talks? That would be the best fit as I see it, and he can be the player that can aid our issues (above) regarding the post season. By shipping off Marquis, enough money could be freed up to bring Bobby to the Windy City. It only makes sense.
Come on Hendry...
get this deal done!

I couldn't agree more. I get physically ill watching him pitch. I'd love to see Abreu or even Milton Bradley in a Cubs uniform. Derrek Lee's power is fading, and we need some offensive production that will be consistent. Not to mention middle relief.
I think I've spent enough time yelling at the TV watching Marquis pitch, so I'm with you, I'd be willing to help him pack his bags.
