Cincinnati Reds Fanatics

I am happy Coco went to KC,he is a cancer, I believe in the locker room. I am also saddened the Reds did not try and get Affeldt and let him go to the Giants. I have not heard much in the bull pen talk that makes me happy. Anyone hear anything positive?

I agree with your post for the most part - refering to the pitchers and the Wily Mo trade. However, in regards to the ever-changing lineup - it makes a huge difference. To me, it's like the QB/Center exchange critical. A #2 hitter and a #5 hitter have 2 different agendas - but we constantly see Dunn or Votto in the #2 spot. WHY? They cannot possibly be comfortable in that position and it's reflects in their production (i.e. Harang's run-support) Anyway, I know it's his first season and he's feeling everybody out in different situations and it's still early. If Baker somehow pulls a Wildcard out of his A$$, I think we will have a huge advantage towards the NL Title because of all of his tinkering. Catch 22 becasue it's all of his tinkering that has put us behind the 8Ball to begin with. Go Reds!!!

I understand the need for so many different lineups with all the injuries we've sustained this year and I don't think a consistant lineup would make a big difference, but keeping corey patterson out of it would.  Patterson needs to be utilized as a pinch runner or defensive substitution in the 9th inning to protect a lead.  Weathers just needs to be traded for some young pitching.  He has more losses than Volquez, a starter.  Harang hasn't been as bad as his record indicates.  Many of his losses are from poor run support.  He has had a few bad outings, but with average run support he would at least be a .500 pitcher.  Arroryo is a career .500 pitcher, but fans expect more from him because of his All Star debut in cincinnati, and with Willy Mo batting .215 with 2 homers it appears we got the better end of that trade.

Considering our "ace" has only has 3 wins - and us fans cannot get comfortable with Baker's Lineups (how can the players) - we are merely 11 games back of having the "Best Record in Baseball" at the moment. I'm feeling lucky and I feel that (if it could ever happen) once Dusty feels good about a particular lineup and begins to use it consistantly, the players will start to "gel" and put together a couple fo nice runs down the stretch. Our young talent is playing and pitching great - now if we could just get our veterans (specifically Harang, Arroyo, Weathers) to steup up and lead we could have a shot. Just because we are in the basement heading into the break - the season's not lost yet.

Will the Reds ever get out of last place???!!!

After the thumping we took on Tuesday, the skin of our teeth win on Wednesday (with might I say the most fubar'd lineup in history), and the whipping we took on Thursday, it will be nice to come back to Ohio to play.  Even if we will be in Cleveland.  The Tribe however looks to be in even more disaray than the Reds.  It could be interesting.
