The Brett Favre saga finally came to an end early Thursday morning with Green Bay trading the future Hall of Famer to the New York Jets for a conditional draft pick. The pick will be dictated on how well Favre performs next season.
First off, good riddance. I'm sure everyone is finally happy to see this media circus come to an end. It was getting to the point that when Favre went to the bathroom it was breaking news. Secondly, the Fantasy ramifications are immense. Favre is a No. 1 Fantasy QB now that he is headed to a team with decent receivers. Aaron Rodgers can be drafted as a No. 2 Fantasy QB. Laveranues Coles and Jerricho Cotchery likely jump to No. 2 Fantasy WRs with Favre coming to town. QBs Kellen Clemens and Chad Pennginton, who were bad options to begin with, can now be forgotten about in Fantasy. Heck, even Jets rookie TE Dustin Keller becomes a big-time Fantasy sleeper heading into 2008 since Favre targeted his tight ends quite frequently with the Packers (i.e. Bubba Franks, Donald Lee), especially in the red zone. I have no doubt that our lead Fantasy Football writers Dave Richard and Jamey Eisenberg will update you as to everyone's elevated and decreased Fantasy value over the next few days.
