LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -
This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.
THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!
PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, AFC East, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.
RULES FOR POSTING -
I take it upon myself to donate my time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. I will not track your picks if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, I won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.
- Post only 1 LOCK per day. You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week. A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday. Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL. You do not have to stay in one sport. Spread them around if you like.
- No "buying" points.
- First half lines are OK. No second half or quarter lines. We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.
- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc.
- No props.
- No moneylines.
- Hockey and soccer plays need to be -129 or better. No HUGE favorites for LOCKS. If you have a -200 line or something, take the -1.5 goals if you feel like it is still a LOCK.
- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.
You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on said team.

I thought long and hard about LOCKING Louisville, but another game caught my eye.
My LOCK IS LSU -1.5
This game started at a pk and quickly shot up to 1.5. So i want to LOCK it now. In the last game lsu beat ky on feb 28th 73-70 at rupp. What makes that game a stand out is ky had a 10 point lead with 11 min. to go. Patterson and Meeks combined for 52 of ky's 70 points. Ky also shot 54 percent from the floor for the game, and a gaudy 61 percent in the 2nd half and still loss. Lsu has 3 dominate players in marcus thorton 20.5 ppg, tasmin mitchell 16.4, bo spencer 11.7.The reason the line is so low is Lsu lost the last two of the reg season, to auburn, and vandy. But lsu had already wrapped up the sec reg season title at ky. Lsu has struggled with ky over the year's. The feb 28th victory was their 3rd in the last 20 games against ky.Kentucky won friday against mississippi, but this ky team is headed to the nit. They depend on patterson, and meeks too much.They have no bench help, and i don't know if Gillispie has lost his players confidence.They ended the season on a 4 game skid, and are going to miss the tournament, for the first time since 1991, unless they win the sec, not gonna happen.The two teams avg similar numbers LSU-75.7 PPG AND ALLOW 65.7. KY-75.3 PPG AND ALLOW 66.2. LSU is just the better team here and -1.5 is a gift. LSU coach Trent Johnson has done a great job with the tigers, and there is no way ky shoots 61 percent in 2nd half again.Look for LSU to jump on KY from the opening tip and roll to a 8-10 point win.

March 4 Virginia Tech play North Carolina to a 86-78 lost, it was a very close game from start to finish i expect to see the same Virginia Tech team to cover and pull off the upset. Thursday my lock was Virginia Tech and Miami under VTech 65-47. UNC Lawson may not play in this game questionable. Virginia Tech is a well coach team that stick to the game plan, VT biggggggggg

Missed my last 2 locks, so I'm pretty cold, but I took the necessary 5 days off from locks! ;-) Today:
Georgia Tech has had a tough few games; worn out (not like 'Cuse, though!). 'Just look at the conf records here: FS: 10-6, GT 2-14. That tells a big story. Tourny or not, GT can't keep up w/ the speed of FS. This line is whacked out low. FS wins by dbl-digits. Note: This is a 2:30pm ET game!

First off, I am a Buckeye homer at all things. That out of the way I am also a realist and when there might be the slightest doubt I just wont play the game at all. Today is not one of those days.
The Buckeyes and Badgers are peas in a pod. They play the same type of basketball on both ends of the court. This years versions of both teams have the Badgers with more experience but the Buckeyes have the athletes. There is a distinct size advantage to the Buckeye side of the court as well. The last and only meeting between these teams this year was a 5 point win in the last seconds for the Badgers in Wisconsin. In that game Wisconsin clearly held a rebounding advantage on both ends, but it was the Buckeyes turnovers that did them in, 19, is a season high. The Buckeyes did hold the Badgers to 36% shooting but didnt do much better at 55%. The 3 pointer has been Ohio States achilles heel all season long allowing inferior teams or hot shooting teams to stay in the game when they shouldnt have. In the Wisconsin game Ohio State finally held an opponent under 35% from 3 point range, but they didnt rebound. Jon Diebler and Jeremie Simmons, OSU's best 3 point shooters, went 0-6 between them. If not for Joe Krabbenhoft the Buckeyes most likely still pull that game out in the end. Where does that leave this game?
OSU is 16-6 over the last 3 years ATS in tournament games. Wisconsin is 8-7 through that same stretch.
Ohio State has already played in Indianapolis this year, then a road game against a blistering Notre Dame team, and won. After that game Notre Dame went down hill and the Buckeyes were poised to do some serious damage in the Big10 before the injury to David Lighty their leader and eldest statesman. Tuesday night Evan Turner and Jon Diebler held a team, players only meeting, in which Evan showed the first true leadership signs of his young career. Some people think its because of the POY snub by the Big10 media, others that he's finally "getting it". Either way Evan Turner will come out against Wisconsin looking to dominate the entire game. 19 turnovers at Wisconsin cost the young Buckeyes a road game. They will turn the ball over today 12 times or less with the maturity of Turner, Simmons and the emergence of PJ Hill. If they Buckeyes can limit Bohannons 3 pointers and even up the boards, they should win by double digits. If they come out erratic and the Badgers get hot from 3 it'll go down to the last shot. Wisonsin has more experience, Ohio State has more talent.
Ohio States talent will win out today and the Buckeyes advance, 67-59.

I am usually on your side of the picks, that was until yesterday... I think you said PLay Ole Miss +6.5, but your reason was take the points until UK shows you otherwise...
How can UK be dfinitely NIT bound at 20-12 beating Tenn twice and Tenn being 19-11 be projected as a 6 seed?????
UK showed yesterday that they are coachable, that they have the utmost respect in BG and that Like Catlanta.. they can make Tampa a second home... they have relied on Patt and Meeks too much, but that showed yesterday they can handle the adversity when Meeks is having an off shooting first half....
They went into half with BG saying they Laid down on Defense, came out the second half and played the best half of Defense I have seen them play all season!
As for the Bench, they have found and utilized Darius Miller as a sixth man that can score.... Finally decided to not play Liggins as much ato limit the Turn overs (He needs a little calming)
On a dismal shooting day for Porter 1-7, and the team shooting 1-10 (10%) for three pointers they stepped up in ways other people can't see. the attitudes before and after the game were amazing, Coach said I wasn't rebounding and helping the team says patterson... So he goes 15 pts and 14 rebs and said him and Stevenson are going to be rebounding machines!
UK over the hump, understands what they need to get done and looking for a strong run in the SEC...
SHOCK.... I value your picks greatly, and I am by no means saying to take UK +1.5, I might lay a little for my boys, but in all other regards, I will call this a no play
