I remember we liked Fangupo as a late round flier, but his age was definately a concern, I believe he was like 27 or something entering the draft last year, and now he's another year older, but didn't have much wear and tear on the body.

I agree about the draft, Ben needs weapons and an O-line that will stay healthy and keep him upright.

Roll Tide!!! Here are 4 criminals.........I mean players to stay away from in future drafts!

Four University of Alabama football players were arrested and charged with second-degree robbery following a pair of incidents early Monday morning.

Linebacker [Tyler Hayes] and defensive lineman [D.J. Pettway] were charged with second-degree robbery while defensive back [Eddie Williams] and running back [Brent Calloway] were charged with second-degree robbery and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Walterfootball is as ignorant of the Steelers, their ways, and their players as just about anyone else who does league-wide draft coverage.

He's okay, but he certainly has his faults. They just annoy me now more than ever, which is why I seldom refer to his site now.

Besides, he's been really off the mark over the last two years, and he makes jokes about his inability to predict games against the spread every week. I used to love him, but I think we have to face the fact that he just isn't that great (anymore).

The guy has too many of the same old and tiresome jokes and catch phrases too. Not to mention if he never changes his reasoning when a team picks a certain position and will just replace the player name if he changes his mock.

Moore and Lotulelei are gone top 10, top two DL players.

I am not sure if Ansah makes it to 17, but that kid's celing is higher than Obama's tax plan.... Surprised

Back to Harrison, that is his agent coupled with the Bleacher Report talking, not sure who to take less serious.  Still thought OLB in round one would not be a bad idea. I like Keenan Allen at 17, along with Ansah, Ogletree, Johnson, Vacarro, Richardson.

Bailey is not my favorite prospect for where we're going. While he plays great in the phone booth, he seems to lumber; if we're letting Ramon Foster go, I don't see why we'd get Bailey. Maybe Bailey has more potential than Foster, but it's not big enough of a difference to warrant strong consideration IMO.

re Bailey - I haven't seen him play - cant offer too much of an opinion - I do know we are looking for good athlete's that can move - see DeCastro, Pouncey - these 2 aren't Giants phone booth players - both very mobile.

What we might ought to do  - is pay attention to college teams that run zone blocking (as well as conference  - SEC) and see which Olinemen are coming out of programs running this type of blokcing scheme. I'm not saying that that is the only teams we will draft from, but if a player has been running this type of offense - coule be beneficial.

Couple of teams that do run zone blocking to some degree - Alabama, ND, Oregon, Florida, Texas A&M....    might want to pay attention to some of these schools for RB's also...

Zone-Blocking Runner:
NFL prototype: Arian Foster, Texans
  1. Eddie Lacy
  2. Mike Gillislee
  3. Le'Veon Bell
  4. Jawan Jamison
  5. Giovani Bernard
  6. Joseph Randle
  7. Stepfan Taylor
  8. Montee Ball

Recap: The zone-blocking scheme calls for backs to have quickness and physicality. They need the ability to follow the moving wall, use vision and anticipation to see the hole opening and make one cut to run downhill. It is a different type of running compared to a set, designed play.

Lacy showed the capacity to execute the zone-blocking scheme in 2012. He had a number of long carries on stretch plays. The Alabama offensive line was so good, the team did some of everything, so Lacy is prepared for any system.

Gillislee has a lot the attributes to execute in zone. He is a one-cut downhill runner who has patience and vision. A scout from a zone-blocking team I spoke with feels that Gillislee was a very good fit for his franchise's ground scheme.

Bell and Jamison both have the skill set to be effective in a zone-blocking scheme. Randle has the burst and vision, but his lack of yards after contact make him less likely to thrive in a zone-blocking scheme compared to the others.

Taylor and Ball are more downhill runners behind a power offensive line. I'm not confident that Ball would thrive in a zone-blocking scheme.
--------------------

This is from walter's football.  Nice little piece and as I read the whole article - I was thinking Mike Gillislee might be a real nice pick in the 4th if he is still there....

Walter limited this analysis to 8 RB's..  obviously there are a lot more to consider..  THe kid from Texas A&M for one...

Anybody miss me yet?

...that was a rhetorical question.  Nothing wrong with having a little fun though, eh?

I feel Canadian when I end a question like that.

If anyone has asked me something that I failed to respond to, please feel free to ask it again.  I've been out of town for a couple of weeks and have some catching up to do.

Nyb and/or BB,

Is there any kind of format or another that you all would like for me to do in regards to my OLB prospects?  ie, list the top 15-20 viable candidates, a brief summary of their strengths and weaknesses (as I did for a few players that had been mentioned), round by round projections, etc.

Thanks.  It's been a long time since I've done this with you folks and I'm also not nearly as active as I used to be.

King,

was asking pretty much the same question a few posts ago..  We use to have that group that we posted in..  nice thing about it - you could edit you stuff...  but the link for groups is gone  - darn CBS.   I think we can still get to the stuff but I have no idea where it is...

So - do use that (Steelers war board) or just post stuff in this thread?  either or..

and yes make a list - comments and maybe which round they are projected to go in.   I like to talk about some sleeper picks too....    guys that could be drafted late or brought in as undrafted free agents..

I have some of a list in a word document and will use that to do edits and reposts...

hope that helps - I really dont car where we post this stuff - just was a lot of fun wathcing our final war board sheet last year vs what actually happended in the draft.

You cannot get to the Group via cbs, you have to goolge it.

Steelroc74 you are approved into 3 Rivers 5 Rings.

cannot do jack on an Iphone, but I can provide the link at a later time.

The problem with posting on this thread, inevitably trolls, dooshes, etc.., show up. Plus I agree with bb, in the groups you can EDIT your posts. We can always cut and paste what we have done there, onto here, then provide the link.

Dane Bugphuccer hasn't updated the risers and fallers in weeks, the dude is downright lazy and is putting out a lacodaisical effort, IMHO.

I agree that the option to edit our posts would really benefit this whole process.  That would allow us to rearrange player rankings based on our own risers and fallers, add new ones, edit in additional info about a certain player...and the list goes on.

Here's the link to the group that I found on Google: LINK or http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/g
roups/group/13754654 (in case CBS hasn't bothered to fix the issue with embedding links)

Were you all interested in still using it?
