Jiri Hudler = gone. That one stings a touch. Huds is going to the KHL over in Russia for 2 million a year. They are making a solid run at NHL players this off season and executing successfully.

Bettman has yet another thing on the laundry list of stuff he already cant handle. This is a pretty large agenda for a small guy that cant fill the shoes he is supposed to. I say make Scotty Bowman commisioner of the the league?

What is Kenny Holland going to do with the extra loot he has now?

It has been a fun offseason, hope it continues.

Have a good summer and a good luck in your FF leagues Gents.

Alive,

I just read that article on ESPN.  It is all Tax Free too.  If he ever comes back he will still have 1 year left with the Wings.  I don't think anyone saw this coming.

(from Pittsburgh Post gazette)

Penguins coming to terms with defenseman McKee

The Penguins and free-agent defenseman Jay McKee are finalizing details on a one-year contract. Financial terms are not yet known.

McKee, 31, spent the past three years with St. Louis, but the Blues bought out the final year of his contract this summer. The 6-foot-4, 203-pound defensive defenseman had a series of injuries while with St. Louis, many of them related to blocking shots.

The Blues are obligated to pay two-thirds of the $4 million salary he would have been due in 2009-10 under his contract with them, or about $2.67 million, which will be split over two years for salary cap purposes.

The Penguins expect Alex Goligoski to become a regular on defense this season after splitting last season between the NHL and the minor leagues, but the team still needed to add a defenseman after losing Rob Scuderi and Hal Gill to free agency earlier this month.

Chicago, Nashville and Buffalo also were interested in McKee, who was a first-round draft pick by Buffalo in 1995.

It is somewhat of a suprise. There is a rumor that if the Wings offer more than 3 Mil he can get out of it. He will be missed. Opens up a spot for Abdelkader. Might be in the Wings best interest especially if the cap goes down again next season to put a rookie making 800,000 in as opposed to a 3 mil cap hit. 5 Mil tax free is hard to turn down. Don't forget also hudler scored 57 points and was only a plus 7 in the regular season.

NHL is now contesting the Huddler signing. Their claim is that since he filed for arbitration he is obligated to the Red Wings through the arbitration process. To me it really doesn't matter whether he stays or goes. plenty of options in the minors and Wings prospects playing in Europe that are close to being NHL ready.

This just in......My Mom has agreed to terms with The Edmonton Oilers to play center. After the heatley thing fell thru, the oiler management realized that they dodged a bullet and that my mom would be a better player than heatley...maybe not as good as heatley before he killed a guy, but definately better than him now. Anyways, way to go Mom!

Oil Runs Deep, but obviously your compassion does not...
The "guy" you refer to, was Dan Snyder.  Dan Snyder's parents were/are very supportive of Heatley, even though he is largely responsible for the death of their son.

Have you ever been in a car accident ?.. I've hit a person, before.  Thankfully, luck was on my side and nobody died because of my reckless/careless actions.

Heatley is not a bad guy.  He wasn't drunk.  He was a young, cocky, millionaire.. idolized by fans like you n' me, who put way too much stock into how well a guy minipulates a rubber puck with a carbon fiber stick.
When I say "idolize", it doesn't mean that he's your favourite player.. it simply means that it probably caught your attention when you heard that the Sens had traded him.. You've probably picked him in a hockey pool and thought you were lucky to get him.. You take the time to log into this Website and talk about him..

btw.. good luck to your Mom..  does she kill penalties..?   Laughing

Dear Sabres4Life.

I'm deeply saddened that I hurt your internet feelings. I hope you and the Sabres the best of luck in the forthcoming season and if karma has its way, maybe your team will sign Heatley. Heatley is a cancerous turd. Throw away the fact that he killed someone. I'm done talking about that. I live 5 minutes from where he grew up and none of us talk about it anymore.Whats the time line of when you can make fun of him? When is it acceptable? His trade fiasco is much more inappropriate than any half assed comment about him being a lousy driver. I appreciate your comments on the morality of dirting a player on a sports site, but maybe save it for a more appropriate forum....like maybe oprah's web site. Anyone who signs him is going to have a nightmare on their hands. Props to the Sens for not caving to his demands. "I want to be traded, but i want a say in where I go because I have a no trade clause"....."and by the way I already went public with the trade demand".Way to go Heatley. Let him play for a trade. Anyways...once again.....sorry.
