Great win fot the Tigers tonight, hard fought good game by both teams tonight. To all the Twins fans great game tonight, it was sad that somebody had to lose this game tonight. All around team game fot the tigers tonight .... lead by the bull pen minus Zach Miner. This was a much need win for a desparate tigers team scuffling on a tough road trip for us. Both BP's will be dead for tommorows game and should make for a interesting series this weekend. Hopefully E-Jack can have a good game saturday and save the BP.
Yeah up 6-0 at one point then 7-2 then 7-3 then Miner decided to take to use the mound as his toilet and blow the lead by taking a smelly crap.
Who is this Fu Ti Ne? Is his name a MLB record for having the least about of letters in his first, middle and last name? Could be a place in the Hall of Fame for him with that name alone
I missed French pitch tonight but it sounds like he pitched well so that is the best news of the night other than beating the twinkies.
French eerily looks like a 24 yr old Kenny Rogers.
Like Ray & Mario said tonight, "bullpens are going to decide who wins this division at the end." I agree.
Zumaya was outstanding tonight and that intentional walk by Leyland of Maur and Morneau back to back to juice the bases was bold as He** but worked out in the end.
Now only if the bleached sox would lose a few games here and there.
Yeah Jackson has been a horse for us starting this season and we'll need him to go deep again tomorrow.
When are they going to tear down that abomination called the metrodome? Seeing outfielders constantly lose the ball in that stupid white roof is a joke. I would rather play them at some high school field in Minny than that crappy excuse for a ball field. Guess next year there new park will be ready to move in to......I bet it has a retractable roof for bad weather and when they close it it is colored white to mimic the same effect that the metrodome has on those that dare try to catch a flyball there.
The metrodome is a joke and baseball shouldn't be played there I have always said that. Miner did have a awful game tonight but I had a feeling that the Twins were going to rally no matter who was pitching. I don't like to use the word momentum in baseball but the twins seem to get that when they play in that dome. I can't wait till till move into a outdoor stadium next year. French pitched good tonight and I hope that is a sign of things to come from him but I won't get excited its just good to see a lefty in the starting rotation for right now. Fu Te Ni looks good against lefties like a Bobby Seay but don't expect much more from him then that. Zumaya was great tonight and lived up to his poetential for 1 day. We still need another bat in the lineup preferably a lefty. This division is going to come down to the end as the White Sox and twins are playing good right now.
The Twins move out of the dome next year, but it won't come down, as the Vikes are still stuck there. Believe it or not, they won't have a retractable dome on the new field. How stupid is that ? Can you say "doubleheaders all summer" to make up for all the snow-outs in April ?
Yeah, because it was just one blizzard after another here this last April, wasn't it? And summer doubleheaders, oh, no, not that. What a terrible thing to be subjected to, two baseball games on a nice summer day/night. Unbelievable what people can find to complain about. The ballpark looks fantastic as it is, too bad they couldn't have put it closer to the river but anything is better than having to endure the rest of my lifetime watching artificial baseball.
Yeah, and thanks to Miner's meltdown the Tigers are going to lose the next two because the bullpen is burned out in a 16-inning game that didn't have to happen if Miner did his job! The Tigers need to come up big this series or the Twinks will be on their backs the rest of the season. Jackson's going to have to reach back and pitch a complete game today, or the pen is likely to get rocked. I say 1-0 would be a reasonable score. Both teams will be tired, from essentially playing a double-header, except the starters who probably weren't even in the park for the game. I wish the Tigers well, the rest of this series will be a good test to see how much they desire to stay in front.
Twins were going to rally no matter who was pitching.i disagree with you. IMO the locations for the pitches last night were wrong(g.e. french first two pitches to Delmon Young, goes to the outside for balls, than hangs one in the same area for hr). Miner was lousey and always will be. Tigers will put him in with the big lead and as usual... but i do agree with the rest of your view.
Not concerned about the next 2 games, because the Twins are in a similar boat, bullpen-wise, but the KC series, which should have been 3 wins, now becomes quite a bit tougher. Wish they had Monday off. Here's to long starts logged by the SPs this weekend!
ugot2bjoking, what are you talking about our bullpen being worn down? Kevin Slowey only pitched 3 innings for the Twins last night, so their bullpen pitched more innings than ours did. Both bullpens used every pitcher in their pen, so I don't get how our pen will be anymore burnt out than theirs. Now we have E-Jack going today, so hopefully he eats up some innings so that the pen can rest up. What was encouraging last night was to see Zumaya and Rodney pitch terrific. They were both lights out. Zumaya got into a jam by issuing the intentional walks to Mauer and Morneau, but who wouldn't do that? Cuddyer is ok, but outside of Mauer and Morneau (and Crede, since he always kills the Tigers), there's no one who's really that dangerous in that lineup. A split of the next two games would be nice, and hopefully the White Sox come back to earth. They've played themselves back into this divisional race
The Tiger, White Sox and hopefully Twins will battle all year and by default one of these teams will win the division. A .520-.540 winning percentage should do it. I'm most familiar with the Twins, they have a lot of holes starting with their starting pitching. If they want to make a run they need a number 1 and or a number 2 starter. Slowey (if he comes back), Perkins, Blackburn and Liriano are decent 3, 4, and 5 starters...but we need more. All of you Dome haters are right on. It's a sinfully bad place. Two new stadiums in this market will provide a whole lot of excitement for the near future.
HAD to win this game after blowing a 7-1 lead. It would have been really tough on the Tigers to lose a game with a six run lead. Albeit a six run lead in the A.L. is not that big a of a deal. You get up six in the N.L. you can pretty much turn out the lights. Good point about the BP's. Both pitchers need to go a long way today. Leyland & Gardy will ignore them if they start looking in the dugout.
