well maybe the rooneys should share some of their techniques and quit being greedy.Again, how are greedy? Because we don't have to go out and overpay for guys who aren't worth it? That method sure has been working for Dallas and Washington.

Bandwagon fans like Miracles may end up jumping ship again when the league goes uncapped, and we will truly see the "Cheap" side to your new and soon to be old "favorite" team. Bruce...an uncapped year would actually benefit the Steelers at this point.  The owners will not allow it to continue beyond that single season, but if they did, it would be to the benefit of a team like the Steelers, not the demise.  The uncapped year brings with it many new rules regarding free agency and restricted free agency that would make it easier for teams like the Steelers to operate as usual and maybe even give them an advantage.
To be specific, the Steelers have several players scheduled to be unrestricted free agents after the 2009 season.  Major contributors like Casey Hampton, Willie Parker, Ryan Clark, Heath Miller, Willie Colon and Brett Keisel among others.  Currently, with paying players like James Harrison and Max Starks, the Steelers are tight against the cap and tight for signing bonus cash.  This makes it difficult to sign all of these players.  As a fan, I have resigned myself to the fact that guys like Parker and Keisel are all but gone next year.  It would be difficult to see a young, talented player like Heath Miller leave, though.  If the Steelers can't get a new deal done with him this offseason he is scheduled to be a UFA in 2010.  If the NFL has an uncapped year in 2010, the new rules that kick in would make Heath a Restricted Free Agent, meaning the Steelers would control his rights as long as they tender him an RFA contract.  The same is true of Willie Colon.  There are systems in place to protect the smaller market teams if the league goes uncapped in 2010, but don't count on that happening.

So does Barry Switzer!  Does that make hime a good coach too?  Tomlin inherited a great team just like Switzer did, so we'll see how things play out in the next couple of years before the anoiting oil is used.....

Oh my bad Quentin.

As for Barry Switzer, did he make that team his own the way Tomlin as?

you know, I actually agree with quentin (I remember that post about comparing brees and someone one else and a steeler fan brings up big ben, lol.)  I'm a big steeler fan from carnegie (however I moved out to las vegas since '03) and yes, for whatever reason it seems that some (maybe more, lol) steeler fans need to interject something about pittsburgh into every topic that leaves out the Steelers.  As if it's some conspiracy to not include the steelers into every topic that deals with football.  I think everyone already knows about pittsburgh.  Just leave it for a fan of another team to mention something about how the steelers do things (it usually happens) and then come on here and agree and leave it at that.  If there is an arguement about the best super bowl teams or the toughest Wr in the game, then yes, you can post until you're blue in the fast, lol!  Fact is, real steeler fans do not need to post to let everyone know just how great pittsburgh is.  Real football fans know about us and if they make a comment about how the steelers run things and that they wished their team would look at the steelers' blueprint, then once again you say "yes I agree" and move on.  Sorry for the long post, but I hate how some steeler fans feel the need to constantly make themselves feel better because they root for the team with the most super bowls.  As steelers=sb said it best, I'd rather fly under the radar and let these other teams get the spotlight!

Amen.  It's a blessing to have the Rooneys as team owners.  I can't believe more owners haven't followed the model.  It's all about money.  Just ask that idiot Dan Snyder in Washington.  Some of us with brains would do so much better with that cash.

is there some unwritten rule with steeler fans that if their is an article with no mention of them, that you have to somehow bring the Steelers up? i swear it seems like some of you guys cant stand the fact that people arent bowing down to the steelers greatness at every waking moment.

Actually, yes there is.  It's called pride in your team.  A true fan will always attempt to show why they are the better team even if they are not.  This will be true in any sport.  That's where the "fan" in fanatics comes from.  Miracles properly posted in the subject that it was a Steelers based comment.  This way, if there are those Steeler haters out there, they can simply avoid his post all together if they wish.  Or they can log in and hate on the Steelers having intelligent (or in some cases non-intelligent) debates and conversations.

I swear, everytime I get to reading some posts, I always seem to come away with a headache. Well, I did get a laugh when Bengal Bruce said that the Steelers played in a large market. And then he went on to try and compare their financial profits to those of the Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins.

I also love how people always try and put that bandwagon tag on people who they don't even know. It is becoming ridiculous, and in my opinion, a sign that the person doesn't have a real arguement and is just resorting to mudslinging. Hell will freeze over before posts will become a civilized platform for sports debate. But one can try, right?

And yes, the Bengals are easily one of the worst run teams in the league. It is just how it is. It starts with the players they bring to their team, and how they handle personnel. Sure, fiscally they may be a swell team, but unless you are an owner of a team or one of the executives, it should be about winning, and an organization that is well run from a football standpoint will find a way to win. And yes, it may be a bit of bravado to create a thread about an article that is entirely unrelated to their team, but hey, thats life.

The Steelers are quite possibly the most stable and well-run organization in the NFL. They constantly build and restock through the draft, and because of that there is far less turnover then you would expect from the average team. Steelers management has done well in making Mike Tomlin the head coach, and it is tough to deny that at this point. On the other side of the spectrum, Marvin Lewis' extended stay with the Bengals has baffled me to no end. I'm not going to go out and say that is just a money move, that Mike Brown is cheap, although I won't deny that, either, or any of those things because I just don't know. No one knows why he is still the head coach but those inside the Bengals organization, so I can't make that judgement.
