It's been awhile since I made a thread (meaningless or not) but I'm bored waiting for the NFL season to start. Basically what's the TOP 5 or WORST 5 in Raiders history in your own opinion?

There's too many good moments in Raiders history so I went with worst 5

1. AL Davis trading away Jon Gruden: Jon Gruden was the Raiders's best coach since.......Tom Flores and while in Gruden's tenure with Oakland, the Raiders went 8-8 first two seasons then lead them to AFC Championship then AFC Divisional then that Bill Callahan lead Gruden's team to the Super Bowl. Not Bad for a Raider coach except the worst part happened when Raiders traded Jon Gruden to Tampa Bay eventually leading to Tampa Bay beating Oakland in the same Super Bowl. After that things went from bad to worst as Oakland currently has 6 season losing streak that needs to be broken already.

2. Tuck Rule: Pretty Bad moment for Raiders, not only it was Gruden's last game as Raiders coach but something even more brutal happened, The Patriots Dynasty.

3. Free Agent class of 2008: Someone already mentioned this in that 10 worst Raider moment but I felt this had a place here too because it basically blew up the Raiders franchise in a way. I hated the DeAngelo Hall part the most.......what a waste when already had Chris Johnson. And Kwame Harris.........yep.

4. Bo Jackson career ending injury: Even though I was a Vikings fan earlier in life and never got to watch Bo played but the way I see it, it hurts alot because he was such an exciting talented player him being gone built a huge in the hearts of the Raider Nation

5. 2006 season: The worst offense in history of the nfl, Randy Moss being a baby about everything, Tom Walsh coaching for the first time in 10 years after running a bed and breakfast. Honestly Art Shell is pretty good motivator but he didn't have the talent and the work ethics from the players (like Jerry Porter and Randy Moss) for example which led to 2-14 season.

Get over the trick play.  Cable didn't have a lot of time as HC and was trying to create a spark in the team and it didn't work out.  It is no where near the top 5 worst moments.

The 5 worst moments in Raider hitstory IMO are as followed.

(1) The immaculant reception. No matter where you stand on this one, anytime a player crosses the endzone with the ball in hand its either a td or not. They never singled touchdown. They had a 10 minute conference in PITTSBURGH to try and determine (1) if the ball was double tapped, (2) If it was scooped off the ground or legitamtely caught and (3) If it should be a TD. There was no way they where gonna call a play like that would determine the outcome of the game in PITTSBURGH for the Raiders. But that is what gave the Steelers the confidence that they can hang with AFC teams and one of the most feared in the Raiders who had already been to 3 championship games. The Steeler dynasty starts the next year - feeding off the momentum of a playoff win their first ever the year before.

(2) The fumble in Denver in the AFC Championship game of 77. The Raiders stood up and forced a fumble at the goalline that was returned 100 yds that would have alterted the outcome of this game. NFL officials confirmed 10 years too late that it was a fumble and that the officials where wrong on the call. Like I mentioned this was a championship game and more than likely if the Raiders get this call they go to the Super Bowl and who knows what happens.

(3) The departure of Ron Wolfe. He was a Raider trademark and their secret weapon. They where the winniest team in sports while he was with the Raiders and when he departed for the Packers, they became the winniest team from his tenure there and he helped put them back on the map by trading for a guy that people couldnt pronounce his name in Brett Favre. He returned the Packers to glory and the rest is history - meanwhile the Raiders start there down hill slope.

(4) The Tuck Game. No doubt in my mind it was a history changing event and instant replay screwed the Raiders. Had instant replay not been allowed like it wasnt allowed in the Immaculant reception its possible they get one of these two calls right. It got the New England dynasty going and it might be safe to say that they didnt get going if they didnt win that one that was handed to them by the refs.

(5) Gruden being traded. IMO Davis did what he had to do because Chuckys agent was trying to bully him and he was in the last year of his deal and had no intentions of re signing. A team comes calling and offers a truck load, I dont blame Davis for pulling the trigger. I blame him for not being able to work it out. The losing ensues shortly after Chuckies departure.

Top 5 worst:

Bo Jackson going down with injury, followed by-

51-3 AFC Championship game loss to Buffalo.  The team was deflated due to the Jackson injury, and Buffalo was hot.

Tuck Rule.

Super Bowl loss to the Bucs.

Career ending injury to Napoleon McCallum.  He served on my ship in the Navy (before I was there but still) and the previous season he had actually showed signs of being a solid contributor.  Liked the guy, and that injury was so devastating...

could not agree more with those 4 angryrod

#5 seeing tim brown go to the donks

jonyork, i believe angryrod is referring to tim brown going there for a try-out after he left us. he never caught on there (i and he may have this 1 confused with jerry rice), but i do believe that it was possible that tim brown tried checking into denver's camp after he left us. im not 100% sure on this one, but it may have happened.

It was Jerry Rice who tried out for the Broncos, he was trying to be atleast their 3rd WR but didn't make it where he wanted so he retired. Tim Brown played for the Buccaneers for one season then signed a 1 day contract to retire as a Raider. That's all I remember.

1.  The Immaculate Deception
2.  The Rob Lytle "fumble"
3.  The Tuck job
4.  Super Bowl loss to "Chucky"
5.  Marcus Allen in the Al Davis dog house

1.  Super Bow XI
2.  Super Bowl XV
3.  Super Bowl XVIII
4.  The Holy Roller
5.  The Sea of Hands

Tim Brown did sign an offer sheet with the Broncos as a restricted free agent way back when.  Al Davis matched it and said something like, "They can't beat us on or off the field."  Or something like that that.

Sigh......

Angryrod - easy to mix that one up.  Tim Brown almost was a Bronco.  If you remember he signed an offer sheet with them for his first big contract and we matched it to keep him (I was actually a little bummed about it at the time, little did I know).  The Broncos went and stole Anthony Miller from the Chargers instead.

The Tuck Rule was the absolute worst call in sports. It was another way to stick it up Al's ass and gift wrap a garbage win for the new NFL darlings the Patriots. That game still has me frosted and is the 1-5 of my worst list. I hate the NFL for that and will always hate them...especially when their Head of Officials comes out the next day and says "the correct call was made". Funny, I haven't seen that call made since then. It turned the Cheaters from Boston into a tainted dynasty. Please don't anyone tell me to get over it. That was a farce. Can it be more obvious when the Raiders have had 4-5 different coaches in the past few years and tons of personnel changes on the field but we ALWAYS lead the league in penalties. Why is this NFL??? Cause you hate Al...what a joke. That is why winning our 3 Super Bowls are even more sweeter.

5 Best:

SB XI
SB XV
SB XVIII
Going to every game in KC (due to where I live)
Being a Raiders fan from Chicago for 35 of my 40 years on this planet!

I have to say the Tuck Rule as it was pretty cruel to fans and players. Anyone watching that game knows Brady was not throwing a pass and the league is retarded for not black and whiting the rule. IMO it's not a pass until it leaves the hand and if the defensive player should happen to separate the ball from the QB before the ball leaves his hand... FUMBLE. This arm going forward BS is insanely stupid.
