As the clock keeps ticking, which one of these two make the cut, or do both of them? Would anybody else other than me be surprised to see Sammy Morris get cut? I think Maroney, Taylor, Faulk and the Lawfirm will be our backs. Anyone else have any surprise cuts? Also, since everyone is so concerned at QB position, (IM NOT WORRIED AT ALL), i'll throw Damon Huard name out there, recently released by the 49ers this past week. What do you all think?
I would actually not be surprised to see Morris cut. I don't think he will, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a "His injury is worse than we let on" situation, similar to when Rosevelt Colvin was cut. Add to it the fact that they simply have the pieces in place to not miss him that much, and no, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
I'd keep BJGE over Morris at this point.
Huard is certainly a possibility at QB, though if BB really feels like rolling the dice he could go into the regular season Brady/Hoyer and keep an extra RB, TE or WR instead. Better special teams, and they have several rookie WRs who wouldn't clear waivers.
Yeah, i see them going with Brady and Hoyer this season, IF something were to happen, they'll deal with it then. Ok so far other than me and draw, who else could see Morris getting cut. Also, if Watson does make the cut, i think this will be his last chance with the team, i think hes gone myself.
Morris or Watson? That's a tough one. Both are excellent players who are prone to injury. Both have shown moments of brilliance. As far as value I see them about equal. The only difference is I trust Morris a bit more to make the play. Also, Watson is unheralded in his ability to block. Just the same Morris>>>>>>>Watson IMO. If you bring BJGE into it, Watson>>>>>>Morris.
At this point, I want to see Lawfirm stay and Morris go. BenJarvus Green-Ellis is a good RB who has youth and health on his side. His attitude and love for the game makes me think he is in good standing with BB as well. I just don't see the value in keeping a 30 something backup over an equally capable 20 something backup...
I also wouldn't be at all surprised to see either Alex Smith or Ben Watson traded for a backup QB. Philly seems like the best fit for a trade, and A.J. Feely would make me feel good about our backup spot behind Tom Brady. I think Alex Smith is on the way out either way. In the limited amount of time I've had to evaluate his play, he just doesn't seem to fit in very well.
On a side note, does anyone else notice how much Ben Watson differs from his Madden 10 counterpart? He catches EVERYTHING in that game. I keep telling myself "I wish he could do that in real life"...
Forgive me if I misunderstand this, but could Sammy Morris be put on the PUP list and therefore not count against the 53 or does the 53 include all: IR, PUP, practice squad etc.?
The 53 does not include any of the designations you mentioned, but I believe it would be too late to place Morris on the PUP. He has practiced with the team, and according to my understanding of the ruled of PUP once a player practices they are no longer eligible for the PUP.
