Garcia is not Jittery, that's the way he is and has always moved his feet in the pocketPlease don't tell me what I see.

I know he has always had energized feet and is bouncing around ready to take off or throw.  I know what he has looked like, but now he looks more nervous than energized.  Maybe it's because he has no faith in the offensive line, I don't know.

You know who was considered a joke and his previous team didn't want to keep him, either? Rich Gannon.

Question: Why didn't the 9ers keep Rice? We keep Brown? The Donks keep Romanowski? The list goes on...

Know who else was a "never-was" with both the 9ers and the Pats? Jim Plunkett.
Gannon was not considered a joke.  The Chiefs had to decide between him and Elvis Grbac and went with the younger guy who had the bigger arm.

Question - why didn't the Jets keep Joe Namath?  The Colts Johnny Unitas?  The Cowboys Emmitt Smith?  The list goes on of guys who were past their prime.

Here is what I do know:
-He is 39.
-He spent a good portion of training camp injured.
-He has not looked better than the other Qbs on the roster.  For the preseason he had the lowest completion percentage, yards per attempt, and and QB rating of all the QBs.

Here's what I don't know:
-How well he would handle not being the #1 guy.  I would guess he though he had a chance to start, but...
-How well JRock communicates with Gradkowski and Frye compared to communicating with Garcia.  That is very important.

Bottom line:
I'm very indifferent about this.  I think he is done, but I don't insist he is done.  I don't have any less confidence in Frye if Jrock got hurt.  I wouldn't have been upset if they kept him, I'm not upset the cut him.

We're all friggin nuts.  We spend so much time arguing about the 3rd string running back and no we are arguing about 2nd or 3rd string QB.

715- I'm an idiot? U know what's funny, about 95 percent of the regulars- the intelligent, credible, respected posters, agree with me on supporting this decision. We laid out concise rational for our thought process unlike u and the 2 other trolls- reeder and that donker-avatar guy who I've never seen post here before. Back 2 ur mothers basement bantha-fodder-boy. And for the regulars who don't agree with me, at least I respect them since they can at least argue with me in a constructive manner. Sorry if I'm using words that are too big- I realize you've never entered a post bigger than 2 sentences.

Im not trying to pick a fight with anyone but for the people that think that this is such a horrible move to cut Garcia and that he just finds a way to win and whatever else do you NOT remember his tours with the Lions and Browns? He did well in San Fran under a good system from a team that was used to winning replacing a Hall Of Fame qb in Steve Young. He than went to Detroit for the starting gig and did nothing, went to Cleveland with the starting gig and did nothing and was relicated to being a back up with Philadelphia where it took an injury to get him playing time and he did well. Than TB gets him and he played OK for them.

Garcia cant put a team on his shoulders and carry them like he proved in Detroit and Cleveland. He is only as good as the talent around him. He has to have a great offensive minded coach like Gruden is and like Mooch was and even Reid was in Philly and do you see the pattern there? All where coaches from the Holmgreen west coast tree. Garcia only understands one kind of playbook and the Raiders arent running that.

That's Funny because I joined a Fantasy League yesteday that was for Steeler Fans only so I changed my Favorite team until the draft is over tonight. If you saw my earlier post about being a life long Raider Fan which was copied and pasted from"Silver and Black Pride and SB Nation. Believe me, The immaculate Reception has been a nightmare for me ever since 1972.

If any of you missed my post here it is again.

Well, as a life long Raider Fan who goes back before the Al Davis and Madden Days. I say this is going to be another long losing season. We are not good in the trenches. We can’t block nor can we stop anyone from running the ball. It doesn’t matter who QB’s this team. We are going to lose and we are going to lose huge. We have many talented players in the skill positions. The jury is still out on JR, but I haven’t seen any glimpse of leadership and the ablility to make something happen. We have those qualities in Garcia though. We still are not disciplined enough to avoid penalties and somtimes maybe not good enough not to commit them, IE HOLDING. Unfortunatley, we have been in a state of diseray for many years now and I don’t see an end to it anytime soon. We can’t keep a coach long enough to get any continunity and sustained direction. I am old enough to have watched all 5 superbowls, The QB’s were LaMonica, Stabler, Plunket, Plunket and Gannon. I am also an Eagles fan since I live in Philly, But when the Raiders and Eagles played, I was the only one in the house rooting for the Raiders, I was dressed in Silver and Back and when Kenny King caught that sideline pass with an unbelivable catch and sprint down the sidlines for that TD, it was just great. When I think of the Raiders being good in the past, I thnk of that play and when Jack Squirek picked off Theisman for a TD just before halftime in that 38-9 masacre. That was the game Marcus Allen had that spectacular TD run. Yes, I’ve watch every Raider game that I could being from the East Coast. I would say the Raiders downturn started after Flores left. Eventhough we made it to the superbowl in 2003 I didn’t think were were that good, just better than everyone else in the AFC. Tampa Bay showed us we weren’t. I know I rambled on here a bit but I have to remember the good times to put up with the times we have and will face. I want Al Davis to be the owner, I just wish he’d hire good people and let them manage the team. Once he does this or retires, we will be able to compete with the rest of the teams. Just so you know, We went from being the most winningest franchise in sports history to having the worst record in the NFL over the last 5 years. That’s pretty bad, it’s not the players, it’s how the team is managed or not managed and it has actually been embarassing for Raider Fans, believe me I know, I’m one of them. In 5 years we’ve won a pathetic 19 games and lost 61, do you know how bad that is ? The Lions who didn’t even win a single game last year won 26. That’s 26 in 4 years and we had 19 in 5. The 2nd worst record in that time frame belongs to the 49’ers who won 25 games, 6 more than us, and we’ve been playing a last place schedule. I don’t know what some of you have been watching these last five years but I have seen us get slapped around by every team we’ve played. I have read posts here that suggest we’ll be fine, this is only pre season. I seen posts saying that our run defense is that bad. It’s worse than bad and it’s been worse than bad for 5 years and this is going to be the 6th whether you choose to believe it or not. I saw a post saying this is our year. Anyone who believes that has rocks for brains. I hope to see some improvement this year but if this coach is not the coach for the next 5 years you can forget about getting better any time soon. It don’t matter to me about winning the Superbowl, I want the team to be consistently competitive and try to improve every year. If we do that the wins and loses will take care of themselves and so will being in the Superbowl. I am not just a Rah Rah lets go Raiders Fan, I’m a real Fan and know that our team hasn’t been good and hasn’t gotten any better than last year. If we win 6 games we’ll be lucky. I know Raiders Football and it has always been about attitude and I haven’t seen any attitude for a long time. We’ve been playing like a bunch of wussies. I want that to change this year. I want us to fight, not lay down. At least we have a coach that's willing to fight and that’s a start. How many of you know that Tom Flores was the First QB the Raiders ever had ? That’s right, in 1960 when the Raiders joined the AFL Flores was our QB, I may be the only one here that actually seen him play. Al Davis didn’t join the Raiders until 1963. My worst memory as a Raiders Fan is the Immaculate Reception, When I see the replay of it, it still sickens me. Most of the time I just change the channel because I just can’t stand to see it or hear that Voice that say" It’s caught out of the air" god I hate that voice and everything about that game. Sometimes I watch it and hope Franco gets pushed out of bounds before crossing the goal line but that never happens. So I live with it, that nightmare that just never seems to go away, there always seems to be a show that brings back that dreaded memory. But hey, I have many memories of the Raiders that have brought both Joy and Pain and wouldn’t trade them for anything. Remember when Davis moved the Raiders to LA ? That was all about Financial gain for Davis. That stadium held over 100,000 fans but the fans were so far away from the field you needed binoculars from the first row. When watching a game on TV, the place looked empty. Although we won a superbowl as the LA Riaders I didn’t like that move Davis made and it kind of made me not like him as much as I once did. I was happy when they moved back to Oakland, that meant all my Oakland Raider stuff was meaningful again lol, no, I just liked the Oakland Raiders, I mean I’ve been a fan since the Beginning. About this year, It’s going to be like last year, I’ll be surprised if we win 6 games. I just want to see improvement, not just in record but in playing the game. I want to see the old Raider attitude. It's not all about the players it’s all about attitude. I want to see a swarming defensive that punnishes people like we used to, I ant to see us fight in the trenches and dominate the other team like we used to. This is where you win the game. I remember winning games because the other teams were beat physically in the 4th quarter, even when we played poorly.  I want to see creativity in both our offensive and defensive coordinators which we haven’t had.The biggest reason we've been so bad is because of Al Davis, he runs the show and the results of his behavior show on the field.  As long as Davis has total control we will not get any better, If anything we will get even worse if that's even possible. We are the laughing stock of the NFL. Only I'm not laughing.

kiff- not to attack you bro...or even pile on..but for you to claim 95 percent of the "regulars"..and then to continue to kiss their ass..and claim they agree.....sheeeeeiiiiit. That is how a child handles a disagreement.. petulant..sophmoric..self agrandizing and not to mention passive-aggressive.

you sound like the troll you are calling people out to be.

it is cool to be a SUPERFAN...or a HOMER...or whatever when it comes to the Raiders...i have been my whole life...but stick to the "concise rationale"...no the words are not too big.

To Riader 0382, You think you are so smart and know everything about me. Guess What ? you know nothing about me. I've been a Raider fan way before you were born. I have Jersey's older than you. I bet my 30 y/o Marcus Allen Jersey is older than you let alone my 45 year old Otto Jersey. I've been a Raider Fan since their 1st year in 1960. Tom Flores was our QB. No, I do not see what you see, I have seen and see much more then you. I have experienced Raider Football for 49 years, I've seen it all, from the sea of hands to the Immaculate reception and Tuck Rule game. I've watched every Superbowl Live. I have probably forgotten more about the Raiders than you know. I'm certain nobody here even knew Tom Flores was our First QB and is Ranked 2nd all time on the team. He was probably the best coach this team ever had, including John Madden. It really doesn't matter to me what you think about me because it's im[ossible for you to know. I just wanted to clear up something for the rest of the readers and posters. I know Raider Football better than anyone I have ever met or talked to on these forums. I can see the disarey this organization is in and has been in since 2002 since Davis dumped Gruden. Eventhough we went to the SB in 03, it was Grudens team and it was Dungy's Team Gruden coached to whip our butts in that SB.  I have been a Football fan long enough to spot up and coming teams and believe me I do not see an up and coming Raiders team. We are going to be the worst football team again this year and it's not because of the players. It's because of the way Davis manages this team or not manages this team. Every year it's something. That fiaso with Kiffin was horrible, before that he hires and fires Shannahan who only went to 5 superbowls. He don't give anyone a chance to succeed including this team. My knowledge and dedication to this team is 2nd to none, but I am not just a Rah Rah Raiders fan, I'm a passionate one and I'm disgusted with the way this team has performed on and off the field. Yes, I don't see things the way you do, I see things how they actually are.

Sorry, I don't get this at all. We're celebrating when we cut competitors now? Come again. That is why some of you are celebrating right? because he said he wanted the starting job? this team NEEDS that kind of attitude. this team has never wanted for talent it has always been about attitude. And now we're celebrating when we cut competitors. Speechless.
If the coaches think Gradkowski (or Frye) give us a better chance of winning than Garcia than so be it. But I'm very dubious.

Not sure how cutting Garcia helps our team...I'd rather have him back there over Gradkowski or Frye any day.

Jeff Garcia is a fragile flower.  Just like TO said.  He hasn't played a full season in 6 years.  And he hasn't had his own team in that many years.  I'd be wary to keep him onboard as he was starting to sound like a volatile personality in the media.  I am content with Gradkowski and Frye backing up the Semi ... JRUS.  Garcia would cost too much for the LITTLE value he would have for this team.

Good news Rankin fans ..... he's still on the team!!

Let's Jamarcus know that it's HIS team. It's Al Davis' team.  Everyone knows that.

This guy, then mcfadden, then this heyward-bey guy....?

Aikman, Smith and Irvin they are not.
