Tim Wakefield has been pushed back from his originally scheduled Tuesday start to Wednesday. Wakefield was thought to need 10 days to recuperate from his start, but Tuesday would have been on one week's rest. Now it'll be on eight days rest, and it won't surprise any of us if he's pushed back again. This guy is doing everything he can to get on the mound, but his body is just not cooperating. Clay Buchholz slides up to Tuesday against Toronto.
Royals: Lerew was pulled up from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to fill an opening in the rotation, created by arm ailments to Kyle Davies and Dusty Hughes. Lerew went 10-6 with a 4.09 ERA in the Texas League and also was 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA in the playoffs. His Major League experience is 11 games with the Braves in 2005-07 including an 0-2 record in three starts. His last start was against the Red Sox in an Interleague game on May 19, 2007, at Fenway Park. Lerew lasted just two innings and was charged with three runs on five hits including homers by Kevin Youkilis and since-departed Julio Lugo.
I'll be here! I got Clay goin tonite and need a Major points boost in my FBB Playoffs! Casey! But I do have an announcment that may break some Hearts! lol See ya later! Casey!
I think this might be the swan song for ol' man Wake! His body is just too broken-down to even try another season.
I agree I think it's time for him to retire
Finally got internet back so hopefully it stays on so I can be on tonight. Clay Buchholz needs to have clean innings and keep the walks too a minimum. Not to mention the defense is not as good with Kevin Youkilis out so I am hoping he (Buchholz) can keep the ball away from first.
That's definitely too bad. He was getting really close to the franchise record for wins. And with names like Cy Young and Roger Clemens ahead of him, we would have celebrated just like Yankees fans did when Jeter set the Yankees' hit record.
Good luck, Casey! Buchholz has been an unexpected stud for the last couple months.
you've already been banned in 6 states for the lewdness of your rapping, haven't ya? ___________________________________ ___________________________________ ______________
LMAO! That was some funny lewd chit Huh!! LOL Casey! Promise no rappin tonite! lol Casey!
Tim Wakefield, who threw a side session this afternoon, will start next Wednesday as opposed to next Tuesday, as manager Terry Francona originally decided yesterday. Clay Buchholz will pitch Tuesday, on four days rest, and then the final day of the season. Josh Beckett will pitch Monday and then the following Saturday, the day before the final day of the season.
With that in place, it's possible to shape the pitching rotation for the remainder of the year. Here's what makes sense.
Game 1 of the ALDS, assuming the Yankees choose the series that begins Wednesday, will be Thursday Oct. 8, and Game 2 will be the following night. Strictly in terms of rest, it would make the most sense to pitch Lester for Game 1 and Beckett for Game 2 -- Lester would have six days of rest, and Beckett would have five.
