That was some of the worst officiating i have ever seen in my life. The officials made terrible calls for both sides, but especially against the Eagles . I do not even like the eagles or the Raiders but I was just shocked, such as the interception by Routt ruled pass interference, roughing the kicker call that was missed, ignoring the fact that Jamarcus Russel threw the ball away behind the line of scrimmage etc. The raiders didnt win that game as much as the Eagles, David Akers , McNabb, and the referees lost it for them. Wow, what a huge upset, and what horrendous officiating.
Oh I wholeheartedly agree that the Eagles should have won in a blow out, but if you watched the game those officials were ridiculous. I personally could have cared less who won that game, but the officiating was by far the worst I ever saw in an NFL game, for both sides.
I agree as well Burgh Boy, I am not saying the refs cost the Eagles that game, what I am saying was that game was full of horrendous calls against both teams, not just the eagles or the Raiders.
I'm an Eagles fan and I watched the game, but I don't believe any of the bad calls dictated the outcome. Bad calls happen, plain and simple. Akers missing two field goal and the O-line not giving McNabb adequate protection cost the Birds the game, not bad officiating. The defense should be ashamed of themselves for letting a struggling QB light them up. No excuses here. There's no way the Eagles deserved to win the way they played today.
I don't blame to O line. That D is very good against the pass. McNabb had some time, but the fact that the Eagles wouldn't run the ball is what cost them. The RBs only ran 11 times; 6 for Westbrook, 5 for McClain. That blows. Terrible playcalling to have McNabb thow the ball 46 times. It was very easy for the Raiders to play D as they knew it would be a pass. Those dump screens only work well when you suck the linebackers up with a run fake. If you don't run though, nobody will bite on the fake.
What a waste of an opportunity against one of the worst NFL teams this year.
Richard Seymour is a beast, but of course ... he's out of Belichick's system.
Their defensive line dominated the game against our offensive line. That's why the Eagles lost. With Shawn Andrews unable to play, Jason Peters hurt, and the fact Stacy Andrews is just not that good ... Donovan McNabb could not get the protection required to make the correct passes in a timely manner.
And this meant they could not establish the run game, especially with the offensive line playing poorly. This, in turn, made the Eagles' offense one-dimensional.
The Raiders played a great game. I'm not going to blame this Philly loss on anyone but the Eagles themselves. I'm very disappointed, almost embarrassed, and now I am utterly scared to find out how this Philly team will play against, for example, the New York Giants. Especially if our offensive line is deteriorated and playing like they did today -- if that happens, we'd have no chance at all against Osi and Justin Tuck.
What we need to do is put Andy Reid on the offensive line!
My team, the Seahawks, sucked today. The Eagles, and the Seahawks both are better teams than they showed today. The Radiers stepped up today, and earned today's win. Now quit placing the blame somewhere other than it needs to be. I admitted it, now its your turn.
Quit your crying, and admit your team sucked today. The officials did not determine the outcome of the game.
Pujols...settle down...if you actually read the posts in this thread you would realize that the original poster isn't a fan of either team and Eagles fans have only blamed the Eagles and not the refs. Read before you post and don't try to make this an Eagles fans complaining about the refs thread
i agree ther were bad calls on both sides. but if u really think about it i believe that the 89 yd td play was the only difference in the game well also the missed field goals by akers but tht play accounted for basically 1/3 or 1/2 of the total passing yards from jr it was just overall a bad game for the Eagles. they will rebound though this just hurts them a bit. i cant say the same for the Raiders. no offense.
I didn't see any of this game, so I can't comment on the posts one way or another. However when I noticed the title of the thread the Steelers-Browns game is what I though the thread was about. The 4th and 1 QB sneak by Roethlisberger that looked to be 2 inches short torwards the end of the 1st half had my buddies and I laughing our arses off! IMO that was the worst call of the day. We were at a sports bar and they had the audio of the Vikings-Ravens game on. So if there was an explanation during the game, please feel free to fill me in. From the looks of it though, that was a horrible call in favor of my Steelers.
Was it the referees that sacked the Eagles six times? Was it the referees that completed 17 of 28 passes against the Eagles defense? Which referees blocked for Zach Miller as he romped for 86 yards? How about this: Do you suppose that maybe the Raiders got sick and fed up with losing badly, and decided to play like they're capable of playing? Maybe the Raiders changed their defensive strategy from getting run all over to going on the attack. And perhaps the Eagles were so over-confident that they thought (unwisely) that all they had to do was show up for the game, and victory was guaranteed? Well, the Eagles didn't do a very good job of showing up, because they failed to score a touchdown against a Raiders team that had been giving out points to opponenets like Halloween candy. GO RAIDERS!
As a lifetime Raider fan we're used to the refs going against us so to hear a Steeler fan say the refs were GIVING us calls I find a bit hard to swallow. I live in florida so I had to watch the game via the web and didn't get to see the nefarioius calls you speak of.
I love how all you Raider haters love to say "the Raiders didn't win as much as the other team lost it".. WHATEVER! look in the "W" columm..
Unfortunately for Akers to beat the Raiders, he has to be perfect for the 5 fg's from 40+. 3-5 was good enough to win, the rest of the Eagles offense never got it in the red zone. Do that just twice and Akers is 5-5 and the Eagles win 15-13. Then again, the 86 yard td pass, play a little defense and they win 9-6. Not impressive, but a win is a win.
The raiders knocked out several Eagles defenders, and even DeSean Jackson on a punt, throughout the game. They were more physical, got the one big play offensively and it was enough to beat a flat line Eagles team.
i am not saying once again at all for those who did not read my original post that the REFS gave the Raiders this game
I am saying it was horrendous officiating against BOTH sides
This thread is about the terrible officiating in this game
I agree the Raiders played extremely well
I also agree the Eagles lack of execution hurt them
And finally, I am a Steelers fan, I could care less about the Raiders or the eagles, and could have cared even less than the outcome of this game, and actually was rooting for the raiders in this game just because they were an underdog; but i never expected them to win
There were many factors why the eagles lost and Raiders won but I do not blame the refs for giving the raiders a game that the eagles should have had no business losing.
I am simply commenting on the fact that the NFL and its officiating has not been good this year, and this game really highlighted it to me.
Yes I thought that call in the Browns-Steelers game today was another horrible call, and am glad it didnt happen to my team
And thank you mattmac04 for actually reading my post and comprehending it
Your right Steeler fan....the Raiders could have won bigger if that INT wasnt called back...i dont see what your point is. We won this game fair and square..bad calls both ways.
