I myself don't even consider the specter of steroids here. HOWEVER, I do question the logic of hiring a .263 career hitter to be a hitting coach. He might be able to teach guys to hit the ball farther ( wink, wink, nudge, nudge ), but better? Really?
cowBoyb/redteam/leonitas/what was that one with the eagle/ and so many others/ oh wait MisterMets. I wonder if he uses steroids to help him sell cell phones
HOWEVER, I do question the logic of hiring a .263 career hitter to be a hitting coach.Mark McGwire has been working with Skip Schumaker for 3 years now. Seems like he has done a very good job IMO.
Inferring that McGwire does not qualify due to his lifetime batting average is like inferring that honus wagner would be a great hitting coach because of his lifetime average. Both of them have zero correlation to each other. just because you can hit doesn't mean you can coach and just because you can't hit doesn't mean you can't coach. It is pretty simple.
Do the research yourself before you make silly assumptions.
Tony La Russa, Joe Torre, John McGraw, Bobby Cox, Ron Gardenhire, Dave Duncan, Mike Sciosia...and the majority of the rest were not great ball players..but they are great coaches/managers.
Not saying that he would be a bad hitting coach. My thread is about the steroid thing. The 2 previous Presidents were known to do illicit drugs. Does anybody truly care? Or is this just going to be another BS story to make people feel good because they have something to bash and talk about?

open your eyes, folks
I have posted side by side with Cowboyb and called him an idiot several times for his homerism. I am not even a Cardinals fan. I was going to come on here to congradulate the Yankees for beating my Angels.
