Mets- Crosstown rivals v. team that has embarrassed you down the stretch for 2 years before stomping you this year.  Short air distance between NY and Philly makes a plane crash seem terribly unlikely.

Indians-  They seem like they're 5 years from competing.  Ok, that makes them the equivalent of several teams.  But how is this for pain?  They finished their 2 year clearing house project and now get to watch the two kid pitchers they raised since puberty be praised throughout the world as legendary aces squaring off in game 1 knowing they'll never have anything to show for it.  Grady Sizemore is starting to look old by Indian standards.

Red Sox-  Any year the Yankees win the pennat is a painful one in Boston.  This is a little worse than usual because in the best decade that Boston has had in the last 9, the Yankees in the WS 4 wins from reclaiming team of the decade status.

Worse yet, Jonathan Papelbon looks like he'll be back next year.

29-ers- CC-A-Rod-Teix will be teammates for the next 7 years making the Yankees the early heavy faves to be the Team of the Teens Decade.

I went with the Indians...Seeing Lee and CC go against each other in Game 1 has got to be rough...As a Sox fan, I knew the Yanks would get back there sooner or later...not really all that disheartening.

Realistically, until/unless the Yanks win 4 more the sting wont start to swell up for RS or 29-er fans.

The pain today is far tougher for Mets in a lose-lose situation and the Indians.

Has to be the Mets fan, IMO.

They [most] hate you guys and they should [in a divisional rivalry-way] hate the Phillies as well.

Mets no doubt.

However, we all know that even if the Phillies win a 2nd straight championship, at some point from the final out of the series to the start of the 2010 season, we will see Mets morons talking about how the Mets are as good or better than the Phillies, especially after some mediocre additions.

Met fans can console themselves with the whacky delusion that they wouldnt have sucked if they weren't ravaged by injuries though.

What hope for the future does an Indian fan have?  He'll watch the two best starting pitchers in the WS (by a HUGE margin) square off against each other and think what could have been.  Hell, even if they ever develop pitching nearly as dominant as those two they'll only have a teeny window to take advantage before management dumps them off.

Oh yeah, I forgot about them. They are the same geniuses that pick the Marlins for 90+ losses and trying to stay out of the basement with the Nationals every year.

As long as Phillies are the defending champions, count your Yankees as part of the "29ers".   Surprised

Clearly you do not understand the term.

Not only that, as an Indians fan, I have to watch someone else behind the plate instead of V-Mart and pray that Manny Acta (recently signed manager of the Indians) has a heart attack so that we can get out of this 3 year deal. Raise your glass to another 50 years in the AL Central basement...at least Jacobs Field is a nice place to have a picnic. Cry

The above got my vote & hands down I might add ....

PH you are so right.  I guarantee you in January we will be hearing how the Mets are the best team in the NL East on paper because they fixed so and so or signed so and so.
,
I think true Mets fans have to be hurting the most right now.  At least the Indians can take away that one of their guys is going to win a championship.  I was pulling for Curt Schilling in '01 and if the Broncos make the Superbowl, I will be the biggest bandwagon Broncos fan on earth rooting for B Dawk.

It's got to be the Mets.  They started the season actually believing that all things were right in the universe and they had finally solved all their problems only to become one of the worst teams in baseball the second half of the season and finish up as an afterthought.  And now to add salt to the wound the World Series is the Yankees vs the Phillies.  Time for winter hibernation.

Are you kidding me? It has to be without a doubt the Pittsburgh Pirates fans. It makes you wonder how can the steelers be so good and the Pirates so lousy.

CC-A-Rod-Teix will be teammates for the next 7 years making the Yankees the early heavy faves to be the Team of the Teens Decade.

Arod is 34. Unless he gets back on the happy juice like Jeter did this year, then his prime years are behind him. He might put a couple more good years, but his days of 45+ homer/130+ RBI seasons are over.

And unless CC is a modern freak of nature then he is an arm injury waiting to happen. How many pitchers have thrown 772 IPs over a 2.5 year period in recent years, without sustaining an arm injury? Greg Maddux, RJ, anyone else? He's a big man, and he is not in very good shape. Once the health issues set in, they will start coming one after another.

Tex is money in the bank. Now that he has an opportunity to stay in one spot for awhile, he should get even better. Signing Tex was the best move the Yankees have made in the last 10 years

tough decision between the Mets and the Red Sox's, but i went with the red sox's. the red sox's have been on a roll over the last few years but the team has passed it's prime and needs to be rebuilt. i'm sure many sox fans will disagree but the true sox fans know it as fact. the loss of Manny Ramirez kicked started the decline. they have aging vets with the likes of Jason Varitek, Mike Lowell, David Ortiz. these players along with manny were the heart of the team. Josh Beckett can't put two good years in a row together. Jason Bay will go to the team that lays out the big money and i don't think it will be the sox's. there are to many holes to fill and it will not be done overnight. watching the Yankees win the al east and now making a run at the world series has to be eating them up. good luck theo, time to put on your genious cap and start turning this team around. the true sox fans deserve it and baseball needs it. hang in there red sox nation.
