Hey guy's i was doing some research and found out that there's a really big mess becoming of the blackshear and shaw thing . seems like blackshear low on the illini and shaw is high on em but the thing is that the ville is not with the package deal thing. so can blackshear taint shaw's decison and make a wrong decison on schools really i think this guy needs to make his own mind up if you like the illini go there don't follow ya buddy,go where they are interested in your skill's not your friends make your own headline be you is the message i send to shaw ,love to have you if the ville doesnt want you.what do you guy's think about this whole ordeal i would love to hear you guy's opinon.
Blackshear has always been a little cool towards the Illini and that was BEFORE he really blew up this summer. Shaw has always liked Illinois. Don't know how it will all work out but we've got options. I still like Siakam just as much or more than Shaw despite the rankings.
It seems like it was just yesterday that both Shaw and Blackshear were both high on the Illini, What happened? I rather have Beal instead of Blackshear anyways! The inner city of Chicago still seems to be a recruiting problem for the Illini, Yeah they got Head,Abrams, and Egwu which are good talented players but the Great Talent from with in the city still seem to wanna go else where and play ball!!! Paul and Richmond don't count cause they were from the suburbs. Don't get me wrong, I am glad the Illini are finally starting to keep some of the great talent instate but Chicago is a Gold Mind for talent and the Illini should beable to pick and choose who they want from the city and state!!
I'm not too concerned that Weber isn't getting the CPS kids. While there is a lot of talent in Public League, the kids are often undisciplined. Weber is now consistently getting the top talent in the state to commit to Champaign.
As long as the majority of top players keep going to U of I (like DJ Richardson) then the Illini will be good (even great). That being said, I would really like to see Shaw playing in the orange and blue. I'm not as high on Blackshear, but I would love to have him in the program as well.
The future looks good. I really want to see the basketball season get going since football has been so dismal.
My thing is if you like a team why not pick it why are you wating on a team that does'nt want you your friend is going to get his what a bout you make a decision for you not your homie because his name is on the check not your's
I'm not too concerned that Weber isn't getting the CPS kidsThis isnt a Coach Weber issue at all...players from the Chicago Public League have rarely attended Illinois since Lou Do left and the coaches in Chicago were upset over Jimmy Collins not being hired.
Turned out, Illinois made the right decision and in due time Coach Weber will be turning down a lot more top recruits than he is able to sign!
I think we've made good strides in Chicago. You can't just discount Abrams, Egwu and Crandall. That is top talent. Blackshear was never really that high on the Illini. His recruitment was always an uphill battle. Shaw on the other hand still does like Illinois and is going to/or has visited (again).
But like I said, despite the rankings there's other guys out there I like just as much or more than Shaw (Miller and Siakam).
And we actually might lead slightly for Beal right now in what is being reported more and more as a KU/Illini battle.
So I don't really care where they come from, just so we get 'em! But Abrams, Egwu and Crandall are among the best in the state let alone just Chicago. And we sit well with Tommy Hamilton and the other 2 of the 2013 "big 3".
IlliniBrett, they did say that Shaw kind of hurt his stock this summer, while Blackshear just went nuts and was virtually unstoppable in some events.
What about Sam Thompson? Any word on him. We could use an athletic wing with size and bounce.
Like bsisko, I want Siakam here, and then 2 of the others (Bradley Beal, Devin Langford, Q. Miller, Chasson Randle, Sam THompson, Mike Shaw, Dre Henley)
Siakam would give us a glue guy full of hustle, intensity and toughness which will be needed with all the talent coming on. Unless, of course, they let us start playing with two basketballs...
Heck, if anyone has any more news on any of the aforementioned players, it would be great to hear.
