South Kent (Conn.) shooting guard Russ Smith says he plans on signing with Louisville during his Nov. 15 visit.

“I’m going to sign on my visit,” the 6-foot-2, 160-pound Smith said Friday. “We’re still working on everything officially but I did give coach Pitino my verbal.

“I liked his resume and everything overall, the program. It’s a big-time basketball program.”

Sources said Louisville has yet to officially offer him a scholarship, but the coaches want to sit down with him during the visit and explain what his role would be.

“[He] is going on his official visit to Louisville Nov. 15. Coach [Rick] Pitino and Coach [Ralph] Willard were out here a couple weeks ago and really liked him a lot,” South Kent coach coach Kelvin Jefferson said. “I think Russ wants to sign early and I’m sure Louisville’s at the top of his list.”

Smith dropped 27 points in the Jordan Brand Regional Game back in April at Madison Square Garden and was named co-MVP of that event.

with him playing on the same team as Moore, this should help seal the deal with Moore for 2010.

Now if Pitino can still land Harris

Yes it would seem that with Landing Russ we will most likely see J.J Moore on board as well. We are still in a dog fight for Harris but as it looks the Cards are playing right into our hand. (no pun intended)If things go as planned we will have 5star,4 star and 2 star now thats if things go as planned. It has been a crazy go around with the 2010 class. with what once looked like a lock top 10 soon fell apart, We thought we had Melo too. Even if we just get Smith and Moore we are still in great shape. Russ will be a good back up for Siva next season. its pretty safe to Say siva will paly 30+ minutes a game next year so we dont really have to have a superstar point to back him up. Moore will Fill in where Delk leaves off. My one thing about Harris is that if we go With the lineup of Jennings at 5 and Samuals at 4 this year and next(I really dont see either going to the NBA) He might not want to come off the bench. but anyway its good that he wants to be a Cardinal and it really does give me a strong feeling Moore is next. Go Cards

I know people are doubting me but Harris has said a thousand times he wants to play for a school that will allow him to be a Point Forward. I know he is tall his Dad lists him as 6'7" so he is an inch taller then T Will and would be fine as our SF. This is a bet he will be a Point Forward.

Rivals has Russ smith listed as being 5 foot 11 and scout gave him 2 out of 5 stars?  I hope this guy is a lot better than the 2 stars they gave him.

My bad.  I was referring to the Tubby's son comment as funny.

This is exactly what we need as a back-up for Siva.  Remember we already have another Smith waiting out his transfer year for when we lose Jerry, Edgar, and Reginald.  So we are still in need of at least one person to fill a scholarship from what it seems.  If Russ Smith has any game I will take him.  Especially if it means landing Harris for the next year.  Nothing's set in stone with these youngsters.  I still think the Cards need a backup point even if and / or when we land Teague!

Smith will be a good 10 minute back up a game for Siva next season. Siva will run the show at point with Knowles at 2guard.
Most likely to see Moore jump on board too. Still have my doubts about Harris though I really could see him going to either W.Virginia or Tenn. I know you might think im crazy but something tells me those one of those schools gets him thats all. But I hope im wrong. Well anyway Russ could be alot like Preston "all heart" it would be so sweet if he could come in a keep things going when Siva's taking a break!

Rumors on some other Forums is that Harris has listed The Cuse as his top school and UL out of the picture. Hope this is false!!

Hey could be karma though....I'm sure those same forums had Fab Melo coming to UofL, however he went to the Cuse..so hopefully we can pay Syracuse back.....

GO CARDS!!! with or without T. Harris..I'd prefer "with" though of course.

I hear he may go back and sign with La Salle and join top 25 PG Ty Duren and top-rated non-BCS player this year (Aaric Murray) as he would have to ride the pine for awhile at Louisville.
