And exaggerations are another example of this. When one has a sound argument, one does not need to resort to exaggerations or anything else When one has a sound argument, logic is all you need. The rest takes care of itself.
I had a sound argument with plenty of research and logic back after the week 2 loss to the Bengals . Remember that? I said that we were an average team and that I didn't agree with a lot of TT decisions and MM playcalling. All I got from you was you saying I was overreacting and you weren't going to respond because it would take you "an inordinate amount of time," and then you proceeded to call me a Vikings /Lions/Bears fan because I wasn't happy with our team. You do bring up a lot of good logic and clear minded thinking... but if someone doesn't agree with you, it seems you immediately disregard them no matter what they say. You are one of the most knowledgeable posters on here... as well as one of the most condescending. Please, don't call me one of the most condescending. I am the most condescending. Show me one who you would consider to be any more condescending than me (at least overall). I do remember that post and it was very lengthy, which is why it would have taken an inordinate amount of time to respond to it. I also did not have an issue with much of it, but I did have an issue with someone waiting until the first loss of the season to break it out (against a Bengals team who I thought was clearly underrated at the time). Lastly I did not call you a Vikings/Lions/Bears fan; I said you might as well be one because what you wrote tended to be their modus operandi as well (at least some of the more informed ones).
What tends to happen here is that I am attacked, or my intelligence is attacked and this opens it up for me to set the record straight which can further embolden the other side in disbelief. I understand the result full well, as the same result happens consistently. I also understand that it is not particularly logical from an efficiency standpoint; that is if I was trying to get them to agree with me, but agreement is not my reason for doing so.
---------------------------------
Or, you could just be wrong and to intelligent to see it.
What people are trying to say is just cause you think your right, and they are wrong doesn't make it so. In all of the posts i've read of yours you don't sound intelligent. You sound like a know-it-all condecending jerk.
That may not be the case at all, but that's how you come off. You are more than welcome to be optimistic about a team that is under-acheieving and be happy about it.
But in my book, a true fan. A long term, long time fan will say it how it is. The Packers stuck it up today big time. The are stinking up the season. I am not happy with 4-4. Why? Cause as a fan I expect more. I expect 8-0. To defend everything the Packers are doing does not make you more of a fan then me. Also, being pissed about crap play, and worse coaching makes me no less of a fan.
Just get off your high horse and realize we don't have to be like you to be a Packers fan... Hmm I assume you meant "or, you could just be wrong and not intelligent enough to see it." Again, maybe not, but that's what I would expect.
It's possible that you missed it, but I do understand what many others are attempting to say to me. I did explain it in that same block of text that you quoted (though it came after that). I did already explain that I know I do not sound intelligent to most others (in fact, that's what I want, but I already explained that). It's also a part of this process to sound like a know-it-all condescending jerk to some. Again, this was explained before and you can go back and see it.
The definition and origination of the word "fan" I am talking of does not allow for people to consistantly bash the Packers and then say they are Packers fans. In that case, those who usually disparage the team are not true fans by definition. However, it does have another definition; one where people who disparage the Packers, including Lions fans, Bears fans, and Vikings fans would also be considered Packers fans. To use that definition is absurd IMO; it would be like saying many Lions, Bears, and Vikings fans are Packers fans too.
Well hrddrv obviously doesn't know everything, he thought the Packers were better than the Vikings . Let's get him a dunce cap and sit him in the corner.
Go back and show us where I said that. Good luck finding it.
You can start with my reasonsexcuses which I gave for the loss. I'll do that when I get home from work. See, this is what some people need to do. They need to change what I say into something which it is not becuase they seemingly cannot handle what I say any other way. It's quite interesting how some people have to resort to this. Though that's typically what happens when you rely on emotion over logic. So because my opinion is different from yours, and I see the "reasons" the Packers lost as "excuses", it's emotional? Please provide the proof of that with references, I'll gladly step down. I'm not allowed to disagree and have my own opinion? Then what's the point of having a forum? I did not say that. Again, you're twisting what I said into something it is not. I said it's typical of that; meaning not necessarily the case. I also did not say that you could not disagree and have your own opinion. Though I do expect that you would be able to back it up; instead of just twist what I say around. I'm still waiting on you to back it up too. Did you get home from work yet?
you can spin it all you want hrdrv. the Packers stink!
now the question is:
who's fault is it?
who is RESPONSIBLE for this mess?
i say we re-build again. take MM, TT and MM out. they are all responsible. shake off this Brett Favre curse ASAP
Nah the Packers are a good team with some bad head coaching, ST coaching and bad OLine. The responsibility goes back many years. A lot of it falls on Sherman for putting us in the cap trouble that we had; forcing us to rebuild. Some falls on Favre too, but there is plenty of blame to go around. We are only a few pieces away from the Super Bowl; no need to start over now.
