The Buffalo Bills have fired coach Dick Jauron, a team source told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.
Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell is expected to become the Bills' interim head coach, a Bills source told NFL.com's Vic Carucci.
In just short of four seasons with the Bills, Jauron compiled a record of 24-33 (.421 winning percentage). The Bills failed to make the playoffs in each season under Jauron. Buffalo has not made the playoffs since 1999, tied with the Lions for the longest active streak for a non-expansion team.
The Bills represented Jauron's third stint as a head coach in the NFL. Jauron served as head coach of the Chicago Bears from 1999-2003, and then as interim head coach of the Detroit Lions for the final five games of the 2005 season. Jauron's overall coaching record is 60-82. The highlight of Jauron's coaching career came in 2001 when his Bears finished 13-3 and claimed its first division championship since 1990.
"It's embarrassing," said Schobel, the longest-tenured player on the Bills roster, a day after page/TEN">Titans">a 41-17 loss at Tennessee dropped Buffalo's record to 3-6. "I mean, we're technically, mathematically still in it, I guess, but it's like what ... are we doing here?"
Speaking within earshot of several Bills officials near the entrance of the locker room, Schobel expressed his frustration, but stopped short in explaining what he thinks the franchise's problems are by saying: "That's about all I can say without saying what I want to say."
Receiver Terrell Owens was also upset following the latest loss during which he had an animated exchange with several coaches on the sideline.

Finally the guy should have been fired 2 weeks ago , there was a kid if buffalo 3 weeks ago raised money 2 put up 2 billboards that said fire Dick Jauron. TO going to a have a monster day next week
About time. Ive been going to games as a season ticket holder 4 years and the teams he has rolled out there are uninspired and have no talent. Now if they can only get rid of the rest of the "football department" maybe theY can move in a positive direction. Cowher, Shanahan, Gruden Holmgren, somebody come save us!
I like it. The big guys out there don't want to talk while there's a coach in place, gives theteam a chance to get a jump on the other teams looking for new head coaches. Now just don't mess it up!
THESE knuckleheads in the Bills organization waited until AFTER the BYE...great thinking you bozos... perry fewell as coach?? OMG another defensive coordinator without a clue on how to run an offense!!! I'm ready to puke... but hey we didn't have any expectations like some of the other NFL clubs... who'd think that the 'BOYS could lose to Green Bay?? oh yeah..they have an EX Bills Coach at the Helm...
Does this mean that Edwards is going to be QB? I know that earlier today, they made an announcement that Fitzpatrick would be starting even though Edwards had a better stat line Sunday...could this have been the final straw?
It's really about time. He was the most conservative coach around and after years of watching him I eventually just got sick of watching the Bills try and run the ball up the middle 3 times and then punt it, game in and game out, season after season.
With weapons like T.O. and Lee Evans how can you not be putting the ball in the air more? I hope whoever coaches next changes his strategy and at least makes the Bills fun to watch again-- he can't possibly do much worse than Jauron.
Did Ralph just wake up from his nap 9 games into the effin season? This should have been done long ago, timing is all wrong. Why not do it before your bye to have two weeks for a new coach to come in. Poorly managed team, and I hope they can turn it around in the next few years so we don't lose this team to CANADAAAAA!!!!
