Did anyone else hear some of the things Carson said after the Steelers game? He just continues to impress me. He flat out said the Bengals aren't playing well enough to win the superbowl or even make a significant run in the playoffs. I love that he said that because they aren't there yet and thank god the leader of that team realizes that and can filter it through the rest of the team. He needs to be the reality check to some of these younger kids on that team that may think they're something special right now and lose their minds(ie Chris Henry after the 2005 season) The Bengals have a long way to go but it's more and more obvious that Carson is seriously the one guy who completely gets it and always has. When the Steelers rivalary was at it's hottest after their 2005 loss and steeler SB win; Carson was asked something along the lines of, " do you hate the Steelers". Carson said yes but not for the reason many fans would think. He matter of factly stated that he didn't like the Steelers because they had what he wanted.
Carson is the class of the Bengals organization and we need him right now. With all the talk and love being thrown at the Bengals now it's good to see someone on the team other than the coaches that can put this season into true perspective. If he can get this message to resonate through that team, then we truly might have something big this year. We gotta stay hungry.
Who cares about what he has to say?? He did nothing. Any quarterback could have done what he did last Sunday. Hell bring in Campbell and he could have done that.
Damn special teams cost us the victory. O well it's not like we had our best player playing in any of the games Bengals won.
Haha. You must be the best of all the steeler fans because you fit the stereotype perfectly. Lets see here. Big Ben throws an INT and how many did Carson throw? I believe he beat you twice. The thing that Carson did was lead his team and drive them down to score enough points to win against a very good defense. Why do you people like you insist on embarrassing yourselves? I love it! Let me just pause before I address part two of your peach of a post and just say morons like you make the Bengals winning so much sweeter!
Um lets see....Troy was out right? did you realize we lost the NFL's sack leader(antwan odum)? or how about our starting linebacker(Keith Rivers)? Or what about one of NFL's top RB's (Cedric Benson)? Or our starting probowl safety ( Roy Williams)? Or our only deep threat wide receiver ( Chris Henry)?None of those guys played sunday, But yeah for you Troy polomalu was the difference. Are you seeing why you should've just not posted yet? I hope other steeler fans can read your last post and realize what an embarrassment you are to them. You seriously have zero class and it shows. So kudos to you for being such a grown up. I mean if you talk to a Steelers fan they'll tell you that they have a good understanding of the game but then idiots like you get on here and say moronic comments like, " Damn special teams cost us the victory". HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah thats something my seven year old nephew would say. " if it wasn't just for that one play things would be different". I love it when geniuses like you talk about special teams like they are part of a seperate game or something.
Please continue posting on here. It seriously makes my day. Thank you so much. I was in a bad mood earlier but not anymore after reading that.
Looks like some Steelers fans are stuck in the twighlight zone. Palmer said they were not Super Bowl ready so I am not sure why any football fan would bash him. Sounds to me like sour grapes because the Super Bowl Champ was beaten not once, but twice by Palmer. In game one, he drove the team to a game winning drive against th great Steeler defense. I game two, who managed a great game being controilled by his defense. He was not forced to take risks and was in effectiv game manager. Something Steelers fans should understand as Big Ben is one of the best game managers in football knowing he has always had a great defense to rely on over the years.
I have been with the entire lockerroom. Brandon Johnson replaced Rivers in the Ravens game 10 days ago. He had 6 tcakles, 1.5 sacks and 2 passes defended in less than a half. The medis interviewed him and baited him about his great game. He said e actually had one good snap and one bad snap. He said he had a long way to go. It is not just Palmer, this Bengals team is like no other Bengals team I have ever seen in 40 years.
I agree, they are not Super Bowl material yet, but who knows, keep progressing each week and by the end of he year they could be if they keep these attitudes. They have kncoked off the two top dogs from the AFC last year, not once, but twice each. It has been a very fun Bengals season so far.
This is too funny... The Bengal defense was dominating and the Bengals played in conservative. He did move the ball into field goal range enough to win.
I've always been a fan of Carson Palmer but the Bengals D was always lacking. Not this year. I don't think any QB can win when the pieces aren't around him. Palmer has those now. The only thing that I think may hurt them is inexperience, but who knows. They'll definitely be in the playoffs. As far as this last Sunday goes, they outSteelered the Steelers. Congrats to them.
Bottomline here is the Bengals won two, how they did it doesn't matter. Palmer is the QB of the team he gets the credit just as if the Bengals would have lost he would probaly get the blame. Now the scary thing is Palmer might have actually figured out what it takes to win in this league, and thats a solid commitment to running the ball. It seems the Bengals are more committed to that now and the defense has improved because of it. I will be the first to say I have no idea why they would bring in LJ, he is the type of guy who has held this team down for years. I understand Benson is nicked and all, I understand the insurance policy, I understand the price tag. But is all that worth risking a season when Cincy only gets in this position once or twice a decade? I say no.
I still like the Steelers chances down the stretch because they have been there before, but its also clear it going to have to happen by way of the wild card route.

Been there, done that...and it worked out quite well.
The way I see it, Roethlisberger moved his team into field goal range enough to win as well. Actually, he had better opportunities to score and misfired.
Palmer has been through failure and a bit of success in his time with Cincinnati. By addressing the fact that the Bengals "haven't won anything yet" even though they have swept the Steelers and Ravens, he is attempting to keep the rest of this team on an even keel. Cincinnati has a history of being unpredictable, but some of the reasons for that are now gone, and seome are hopefully cured, no matter what CBS writer Greg Doyel might think.
So the Steelers didn't have their best player on the field when they lost to the Bengals both times this season? i remember a playoff game not long ago when Pittsburgh beat Cincinnati because the Bengals didn't have THEIR best player on the field either, courtesy of a low blow to Carson Palmer on the first drive of the game.
Injuries happen. Special Teams happen. I am delighted to see someone besides Pittsburgh and Baltimore atop the AFC North.
Here's the deal. The Bengals swept the Steelers and Ravens. Who cares how it was done, it was done. They control the div. Unless the Bengals have some sort of meltdown the probably have a first round bye in the play-offs. If the Steelers hope to get back to the SB, it will have to be on the road again. They can't afford one miscue with the Jaguars, Texans, Chargers and Broncos so close in the standings, not to mention looking over their shoulders at the Ravens. 11-5 might not even get you a WC in the AFC this year. Now the season gets real interesting.
Um one glaring big difference is Your Boy Ben threw a HUGE INT that basically put points on the board for the other team. I love how steeler fans can pick one stat and use it as debate fodder and completely IGNORE the most obvious one. Carson managed game two and did exactly what was needed. The funny thing is this wasn't the debate in the first place. My point was that Carson's perspective of where our team is at this point in the season is invaluable. If the Bengals get to where they need to be to win the superbowl a big part of it will be because Carson understands that they aren't there YET. A lot of those youngs guys might be thinking they're already there and the coaches can only drive the message so far. Palmer is the leader of that team and thats the most important thing. We'll need him to have big offensive days and he'll produce. I'm not worried about that. No one was debating about whether the Defense won that game or not. They definately were huge in this game. Why in the world would that be a knock on Carson? I"m thrilled that Palmer doesn't have to go out and win it every Sunday single-handedly. I love being able to trust the defense when the opposing QB is trying to do what Palmer did to them in their last meeting. That was almost poetic.
Even Drew Brees who's completely going off has had games this season where they've put the entire game on the defense or a different facet of the game besides him(ie..buffalo and Jets games) In fact you could argue that every QB does that from time to time. So im not quite grasping your point. You are not Bengals' fans so how in the world would you have any idea what he does for our team? I give Ben a lot of props but Sunday his and Palmer's performance were very comparable except Palmer didn't have any crucial mistakes and Ben did. End of argument. Agreed?

Difference....a kick off return for a TD.
Sorry, you were saying? "
My guess is... You didn't play football. The score dictates play calling. Even a shaky Palmer the Bengals O put up as many points as the Steelers... I mean who cares...

We swept you in 2009...
My guess is that you are wrong. Want my resume'? I played football (3 years in HS), basketball (4 years in HS, one in JC), baseball (HS, College....correction, major college...LSU & a short minor league stint)...Coached college and now locally HS.... and now golf regularly (4 HCP). I'm quite sure that I have 10x more athletic ability in my one finger than you do - but that's besides the point. You suggested, I just answered. Now go have another budweiser and a bag of chips.
"The score dictates play calling"....wow Einstein, great line. Share that information with New England then. They'll probably say....that Dknowfootball is brilliant!!! Get him on the phone. I need a new O.C. Thanks for informing me on the 3 facets of the game of football too. You're one of the brighter Bengals fans...we all know there aren't too many....fans, that is. (Except of course, when they are winning)....
"We swept you in 2009"...go back and check the history of this series. Hello, blind squirrel.

Agreed cbuck. Ben played one of his worst games of the year. Imagine if he had played well? It wouldn't have been 18-12 and the Bengals surely wouldn't have won. Agreed? End of discussion. See you in the playoffs.

Translation: I can be anyone I want to be on the internet and boy..I sure showed you!
What a ridiculous post....and of course always worth a laugh..even if you're drinking a beer and eatin chips..
What's next? My Dad can beat up your dad? Your mom was a former Miss USA? your **** don't stink?
How much athletic ability could one possibly have in their little finger?
Since 1991...the Steelers have swept the regular season series 10 times....before Sunday, the Bengals...ONE!
Secondly...take a look at the statistics from the game...rushing yards, passing yards, Ben vs Carson, defensive stats, time of possession....practically dead even. So before you go shouting that "we" dominated crap...have a clue.
