The Braves will probably not be able to re-sign Mike Gonzales. Gonzales has hired Scott Boras as his agent and will demand a huge Contract. The Braves will probably let Gonzales walk, and make every attempt to Re-sign Soriano who in my opinion has the better arm of the Two.

Do the Red Sox know how to develop their own players, or do they just take them all from other teams? All you guys talk about it free agents.  There's a thing called a minor league system.  Try it out sometime.

I know free agency is a part of the game, obviously, but it seems like more and more your team relies on free agent signings and traded, and puts no emphasis on developing your minor leaguers and producing your own stars from the bottom up.

Don't come at me with a list of players you have developed from your farm system.  I am talking about players who came through your farm system AND are good players contributing to the Red Sox MLB team now.

Your best pitchers over the last several years:

Josh Beckett - got from the Marlins
Dice K - from Japan
Tim Wakefield - from the Pirates

Position players over the last several years:
Victor Martinez - from the Indians
Jason Varitek - from the Marlins
Manny Ramirez - from the Indians
JD Drew - from the Dodgers
Jason Bay - from the Pirates
David Ortiz - from the Twins
Johnny Damon - from the A's

And many more.

I know you can name players who came out of your farm system, like Jason Varitek, Jon Lester, etc., but THE most important players to your success and your World Series titles were NOT developed in your system.  There's nothing wrong with it.  It's just an observation and I am interested in why you seem to think free agency is the only way to do it.  It seems kind of cheap to me to be honest.

Your most important players in recent years who helped you win championships - NONE of them were developed by you, they were all brought in from trade/FA - Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett, Dick K (your 3 most important pitchers in my opinion) and then Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Johnny Damon, Jason Varitek, etc. (your most important position players in the championships).  It just says something about your organization.  You're not so different from what everyone accuses the Yankees of.

Name me one team with a championship...that hasn't had a major contributor from another team's farm system..I'm not going to wait for your answer because I know it...It's what baseball is all about...Look at the teams who really don't go after FA's....look how competitive they are..

If anything, Boston's been doing a much better job as the years go by of developing their own players and relying on their farm system for core players. Compare 2004 to 2007. 2007 we at least had Ellsbury, Pedroia, Youkilis, and Papelbon play a big role in their world series win.

I like Gonzalez and Soriano.  Whether the Sox spend the money for both of them remains to be seen.  I know as a Yankee fan, I'd rather have young guys from the farm system pitching out of the pen.  There have been way too many Yankee free agent reliever busts.  Farnsworth, Hawkins, and Vizcaino are perfect examples.

"Which 2 holes in the starting rotation are you referring to? from all accounts the rotation looks full at this point...You must mean the Yankee's five...Because they only have 2 at this point...Unless you consider Joba a starter still..."

The Yankees just won 103 games and the World Series with the rotation they've got.  Pettitte's not going anywhere, and his 14 wins and 4.14 era, along with a 4-0, 3.52 playoff performance is about as good as you can do for a #3.  They were head and shoulders better than the Sox from the point in early May when A-Rod rejoined the team.  They're doing just fine, thanks.

The Red Sox got swept out of the playoffs.  Their team only got older.  Their "clutch" 1 and 2 starters who were automatic in the playoffs according to sox fans have also combined for 2 wins and a 4.69 era in their last 9 playoff starts.

By the way, you misread my statement.  I was referring to 3 holes in Boston's rotation, not 2, unless you consider an injured knuckleballer who's eligible for social security, a guy with 4 wins and era just a tad under 6.00 who is the path of every other japanese starter who's come to the US, and a guy with a losing record and 4.91 career era a solid back end of a rotation.

Go sign two more relievers though.  Then you can pound your chest all spring about your "epic" bullpen and ignore all of the other glaring weaknesses in your team, just like you did this season as you had a 4 game lead in early may.  Just forget how you saw it drop 12 games in the standings to New York over the last 130 it played.

The Red Sox won 95 games with 2 crappy pitchers in Smoltz and Penny. Dice-K and Buchholz will take their place in the rotation and will do much better than those 2.

And yes Theo needs to do something big like trade for Adrian Gonzalaz and I'm sure Buchholz will be a part of that deal if it gets done. If that happens then Theo needs to sign John Lackey to take Clays place in the rotation

Their team only got older.Don't most teams every year? Posada,Jeter,MO, Pettitte,Damon or Matsui(if resigned)

Tell you what ... If the Sox resign Wagner and "shore" up the bullpen, which was already a strength to begin with ....  then what this really tells me is that the Sox are preparing for life without Papelbon.

If wouldn't surprise me if Papelbon and Buchholtz were included in a package for Roy Halladay.   That would be TWO very solid pieces for Toronto .... along with a couple of prospects.   Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Or

Maybe the Sox package Papalbon and Buchholtz in a deal with prospects for Adrian Gonzalez.  That boltsters the lineup and the Sox could always go after Lackey to fill out the rotation.

Something will happen .... it better!

Buchholz AND Papelbon to rent a 33 year old pitcher for a year?  This might be your dumbest yet..

It's amazing to me that your a Sox fan and no absolutely nothing about thier farm system....

And why would SD want Papelbon?  They already have Bell who costs a ton less...

Would you please just stop with the retarded trade ideas you come up with...they are without fail, horrible every time...

Wait until that screwball Ebstein asks the family of Warren Spahn for Spahn's dental records to confirm its really the hall of fame pitcher in the grave.  Then with Spahn's family blessing Theo will have his body exhumed, put Ted Williams head on Spahn's body and sign him to a 1 year, 5 mil deal.  Not a bad "low risk high reward" deal for a guy who could hit .400 and win a cy for ya.

The Braves will keep both Soriano and Gonzalez. They have got Hudson signed so that leaves a starter out. Javier V. will be traded and LaRoche will not be signed because Atlanta has a stud coming up from Triple A to play 1st. Kelly Johnson might be gone but, Bobby Cox loves him. Money will be available to spend. The Braves have a good out look for next year and those 2 pitchers are part of it. Atlanta will keep them in the ATL!

The Braves will keep both Soriano and Gonzalez. No they want the Braves is not the Yankess as for as spending, they will only be able to afford one of the Two, and as far as Vasquez being Traded i hope not i would rather them try and trade Derek Lowe and Kelly Johnson Regardless of how much Bobby Cox likes him. Johnson just haven't been able to be consistent  enough as a Brave. The Braves have a overflow of Starting pitching and I hope they use some that Pitching i.e Derek Lowe to go out and find a legitimate Power hitter that can hit both right handed and left handed pitching and not a Platoon hitter.

Maybe if you weren't such an idiot, you'd realize it would be a trade and SIGN deal.   Halladay would have to agree to an extension.

Toronto isn't getting a better deal brotha.   And if we already went after him before, what makes you think we won't do it again.

Just shaddup already ... you're making yourself look foolish!  Embarassed
