The article gives some very good points as to why we are where we are.  I'm not sure if I want to go all the way through next year but probably more realistic.  Watching Butler play Northwestern tonight.  Butler does play a lot like Iowa except they actually execute.  They also have an inside game which we have none.  Watching them makes me realize the style can work with the right pieces but we just don't have them and when will we?  What an overall mess and we can always trace it back to Alford, go figure.

That was a solid article, and Alford and Bowlsby do deserve a good chunk of the blame.

Above everything else, I don't believe that all three of the players that transfered out were bad apples.  I don't see any reason Kelly should have wanted to play for a smaller school when he could be the center piece of a B10 program.  Peterson was the only playmaker we had.  If Lick-less had ANY size or athleticism I could give him a pass.  What I have seen this year can't be chalked up to not executing, all I see is lack of talent.  I want to think Gatens and Tucker are solid, but I saw nothing, and even more importantly the offense doesn't allow any player to DO ANYTHING.  I've seen Butler and other quality mid majors play, I can appreciate qulaity schemes with lesser talent.  This is no scheme with minimal talent.

No it isn't ALL on Lick, but all of last year's mutiny and this year's start is.  If you can't keep the only talent from the prior regime, you just don't know what you're doing.  Plain and simple.  And yes, I do hope I eat these words, but I don't see it happening.

And eburgfan, the Butler game you are referencing was against northwestern, that doesn't say much.  That only proves the point that this offense belongs in the Mid Major conferences.  NW is a mid major in the B10.  They can put up some amazing games here and there, have a nice run, but in no way have they proven that they can hang through a whole B10 season.

I didnt watch the last game but saw the highlites on btnetwork. I think that freshman, Coughill was pretty impressive in his 15 minutes he played. He is solid and aggressive on the boards. He should get more playing time. Any thoughts?

All good points, everything that has gone on thus far this season is based on the fact that we don't have a point guard to run this offense.  Cole is a good down low big man but we turn it over every other play because Payne and Tucker are not point guards.  I think the team will improve a lot but we gotta find a way to score more than 50 points per game!

Bowlsby deliberatly sabotaged Iowa. I am betting he still has a few $$$ in his pocket from outside sources from his days at Iowa ( as well as Ronnie Harmon).
Alford was one of his stooges. Now that they are gone, the people who run things just decided to hire an incompetant in order to maintain that standard. We are just lucky that there are a couple slightly powerful people at Iowa who want to see the footnball team succeed.
I can not remember ever seeing any team I like do as poorly as this Iowa BB team ...... and I am a Bulls fan, a Cubs fan, a Packers fan, and am from a town in Iowa that has had some pretty bad high school teams, so I have witnessed some really pathetic teams. But this one is so bad, I do not ever plan on watching another Iowa BB game for the next few years. I do not even bother to check the internet to see how they are doing. Well, I did, once, today, and I wont make that mistake again.
