I think this pretty much means no Harris today. But this guy is a beast. Will be the number one Juco this year.
Central Florida Community College’s Ricardo Ratliffe is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ratliffe, a preseason NJCAA all-American, averaged 38.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.5 blocks in two games for the nation’s top-ranked Patriots. He opened the week with a 36-point, 11-rebound night against Hillsborough on November 10. Three days later, he was even better against the College of Coastal Georgia, scoring 40 points and pulling down 19 rebounds while hitting 17-of-23 field goal attempts. For the week, Ratliffe shot 75.0 percent (30-of-40) from the floor, 42.9 percent (3-of-7) on three-point attempts and 65.0 percent (13-of-20) from the free throw line."
So we get Russell Smith, a savvy point guard from NYC. If we get this Juco kid, then our frontcourt takes a big leap for 2010 to being ready for the Big East.
Keep in mind that we lose Sosa, Jerry Smith, and Delk this year. IF Samardo stays.
Everyone else coming back. Point guard: Siva #2 Guard: Knowles Samardo, Jennings and Van Treese hold down the 5 spot Swop, Kuric, Buckles, Goode Marra hold down the 3 spot.
Dont forget the Chris Smith kid who is sitting out this year.... could be another Delk.
Add in Russell Smith and the Juco kid and we look pretty good. IMO
Once again coach comes thru in the clutch! Sounds like a player. All we gotta do now is make sure he stays away from trouble and studies a bit. Right now it sounds like he could start for us. Those numbers are amazing... By the way, I'm not familiar with this Chris Smith kid. Anyone care to fill me in on him. Potential starter? Role player, rebounder, team player? Thanks ahead of time for the info.
No Samardo is not going anywhere hes a 3to4 year guy like Twill. That said We are going judge him on one game? I thought he looked better than last year. yeah he didn't rebound well but that can be fixed. Plus they were zoning us the whole game. Lets see how he does against man to man before we throw him under the bus. I like Samuels, Hes going to be our leading scorer and a beast inside for us. As for the Juco guy, if hes got game and Pitino thinks he can fit in than I trust Pitino. I can see why Harris picked Tenn, they have 3 seniors who are forwards Chism,Smith and Prince. Harris will be able to step in and play right away. I Dont think Rick is going to tell a hard worker like Swopshire to move over next season for a Freshman.Speaking of Swopshire, He looked good last night, Hitting the 3 and rebounding. Also he looks stronger(not much)but some , I believe he will helps us alot now and in the future. Hes one of those 4 year guys who just gets better and better. Go Cards bring on the next opponent.
He was ranked 38 in 2008 class but had to go to Junior college. Evaluation from Class of 2008: This young man is a scoring machine in the paint. He is a big time athlete who runs the floor with terrific speed, jumps a second time quickly or jumps over you to score. What makes him special is that he has great physical attributes... 6'8" 240 Rank 94. this is from espn.
He is the hottest player out there now. Number one Juco.
Ratliffe now carries a 2.8 grade-point average and is on track to graduate from CFCC.
On the court, he averaged 26.6 points per game, shot 66 percent from the floor and pulled down 12.9 rebounds. He shoots 38% from three.
Samardo... Depending on what day of the week it is, Pitino has said he will be turnng pro at the end of this year to take care of his family...... later said he will be back for at least next year because Momma told him to stay.
And no one is throwing him under the bus. Samardo is "soft" in comparison to TJ, Padgett, D Caracter, Thabeet, Onaku..... He needs to go to war on the boards and WANT to get 10 boards a game. I would have a heart attack if Samardo got called for a foul for throwing an elbow while trying to get an offensive rebound.... or if he knocked Kurik out of the way to get one.
I like the way 2010 recruiting is shaping up. It's 2011 that we should be concerned about.
This JUCO player looks like he could come in next year and really contribute. Especially in the Big East.
Well said Russ. I believe he can come in and play the 3 spot right away. Sounds like he can drop the outside J too. Oh, and I liked your comment about Samardo throwing an elbow. That would be a sight...
