According to KSR: UK target and consensus top 10 prospect, Tobias Harris has decided to attend Tennessee. Tobias announced his intentions tonight on ESPNU. He decided from a final three of Tennessee, Syracuse and Kentucky. Tough loss for the Cats who now turn their full attention to Terrence Jones and CJ Leslie.Go Cats!!!
obviously I was wrong in thinking Harris was best suited at Louisville, but I never thought Tennessee was a real consideration. I mean he wanted to play for a top level coach, in a top level schedule, in an up tempo style that allows forwards to develop into NBA players.
The SEC is good, but the Big East is considered tougher, plus Tennessee doesnt compete in big pre-season tournys', have never been past the sweet 16, and has not produced a NBA forward in years.
I also agree somewhat that UK is missing out on some of these guys, but your boys have fallen off the cliff. UL has an unranked guard and looking at JUCO players to fill their roster next season.
UK is still in the hunt for Leslie, Selby, Knight, Jones. ULs last top recruit just chose Tennessee!!

I would agree but its not about 2010 for louisville. Only losing three players. Sosa, smith, and delk. Siva is replacing sosa, and knowles for smith. And we have the transfer from manhattan for delk.
not losing 6 players like kentucky will. Reason Louisville only signed a 2 star Smith, is beacause he is just a backup for Siva. If you read the article he wanted to commit before they even sit down with him. Why? Because they wanted to tell him 2011 teague is coming in and he will be the 3rd point guard then. Pitino couldn't sign a big name point guard and land teague " if Pitino does". All in the news about that.
so with only 3 open spots, and Smith and the transfer, there is only one spot open. Everthing about Louisville is about 2011. Chandler, and price. Two big centers ranked in the top 20 players. Then there is teauge, Blackshear, shaw, and Wroten. Also ryan Taylor is 2011 for Louisville.
So Kentucky losing 6 players, and Louisville 3. Smith is our biggest lose. Kentucky Wall, cousins, patterson, three best players on the team. big difference.
Louisville big fall was last year to this year. Losing T-will and Clark. Also the Character deal. So yes this year Louisville fell more and kentucky went up. Easy to see that.

Kentucky can still sign selby or Knight. the lamb, jones or leslie. I think kentucky lands Knight, for sure. Jones i don't know now they even posted his mom and wants him close to home. Looks like UCLA for him. Lesile Florida or the big push now N.C. state" who is family all want him to go too".
Lamb i can say i don't know. One thing is for sure. Calipari is not sure on a Power forward since his staff went to watch the 6''9 guy form africa play. His is a 2010 recruit.
Is kentucky a better team on paper this year then Louisville? yes they are. Next year "right Now" is Kentucky better then Louisville? Nope i don't think so. All depends on who Kentucky can sign. But 6 spots open and only one signed, and targeting only 5 players, which 2 are from same Position. Yes things look different now.
My brother is a die hard Kentucky fan and he even said without Jones or Leslie Louisville will be a better team in 2011 then kentucky.
Losing 6 of 13 players, and if liggins transfers kentucky will be returning only 6 players. Is it panic mode for Kentucky? noooo. not saying that. But is it time to wonder some? yes. just 2 months ago there was 11 recruits Kentucky was going after. Now just 5. Can't say well there are others, because there is not anyone left that is a 5 or 4 star left.

Dont get me wrong, I know youve read several of my posts asking what has happen on the recruiting trail, and everyone keeps coming on here telling me Im crazy and UK will get who they want.

Selby and Knight will not go to the same school so mark one of those off.

Thats all that is left on the UK wish list. Good news is that none of the recruits that have turned UK down were EVER considered to be going to UK. HArris was a Louisville lean, and then a Syracuse lean. Everybody in the room knew Irving was going to Duke, and Yacobou never really was pursued by UK.
So until Lamb, Leslie, Selby, and Jones all chose other schools, Im not sure about being nervous just yet.
However, if I was a Louisville fan I would really be concerned. UL not only couldnt land a big recruiting class, but Harris visited Louisville 3 times and was considered a leader for him, but tonight it was reported Harris listed his top 3 and it was UK, Syracuse, and Tennessee. UL didnt make his final cut!!!! And they literally threw the kitchen sink at him, he even got to take a walk around visit to the new arena, called UL a great situation and then.... drops them.
But not only that, UL had 2 players that were committed for 2010 withdraw their commitment. UL may only be losing 3 players, but it appears NO ONE wants to play for Pitino. Dont forget UK and UL both have one recruit for 2010 right now, UK has Stacy Poole a 4-star stud small forward and remains in the hunt for 3-4 more studs at all positions, while UL has no one else listing them as a contender and has only signed a unranked guard.
If I were worried about the future of a program I be worried about ol slick Rick. UK already has the #1 player in America, Mike Gilchrist listing them as a favorite, and the 2011 class looks set-up to be even better than the 2009 class. I am not worried about UKs future, but I cant honestly say the same for Louisville
Well lex blue Louisville is returning all but 3 players. thats my point. For 2011 Louisville already has three lined up. two are top players ranked in top 38. Everthing is about teague in 2011. IF no teauge then yes i will worry then. Thats why they signed only a backup for 2010 and not a better PG, then no chance at teauge for 2011.
2011 I see kentucky and Louisville both having a top 5 recruiting class. Part of the deal with Harris is louisville has, Samuels, jennings, Goode, buckles, van treese, Swoope. Harris would of not seen alot of minutes then.
If harris would of went to Kentucky, Starter right from the start. Thats why i even thought kentucky and tennessee with the cuse over Louisville.
Kentucky will still have 6 players from this year for 2011 class. So if kentucky signs 4 this year, then 3 spots left open for 2011 class.

Its easy to see losing Patterson, wall, cousins, Stevenson, krebs, and harris is more then Sosa, smith and Delk. Kentucky signs Jones or leslie, Selby or knight and lamb to go along with Poole then kentucky will still be good then.
All i'm saying is before all this started 2 months ago things looked better. With leslie talking NC state, and jones saying staying out west, Why would Matt jones even say next year will not be as good as this year?
It is what it is. Same for Louisville fans from last year to this year. Lousville has 9 fresh and sphomores, this year very young. We knew last year was going to be better then this year. It happens.
so 5 spots left for kentucky and targeting 5. So time will tell.
All very good points guys. I was listening to coach Cal last night on his radio show and he said he really wasn't worried about recruiting. Stated we'd get who we where suppose to get.
He also said that (as of last night) one of the main targets hadn't signed yet. (No name was mentioned that I heard) and he also stated that two targets where waiting until the spring or late signing period and that he was fine with that and understood why. Because they (Knight and Selby) wanted to see who was leaving UK. And that he didn't blame them for that.
Anyway all this is completely open to conjecture at this point. I'm still not convinced that all those guys are leaving for the league after this season.
As far as the top recruits that are left.....I think Jones stays on the west coast. If and only if Wall leaves then we'll get either Knight or Selby. Doron Lamb....well i've thought for a long time now he'd end up a Wildcat but it's still anyones guess at this point. And it looks as if Leslie will either go to Florida or NC State so somethings up with all that.
Cal knows what he's doing guys. There's a reason why up until this point he's only signed one player.
Stated we'd get who we where suppose to get. I believe him. He had John Wall and Eric Bledsoe in his back pocket last year. He knew they'd come here when other people (mainly UK haters) were saying they wouldn't.
If and only if Wall leaves then we'll get either Knight or SelbyWall will leave, I'm pretty sure. But by some act of God he doesn't, then we don't need a PG recruit.
i agree... i feel coach cal knows something... i dont think cousins is nba material yet... he isnt explosive athletic and could use some more time in college but the season just started so we will see... he scores a lot off garbage buckets and really hasnt shown much for post moves... we will see once we play some teams that wont triple team our big men though... its tough to tell yet... i think orton does a very good job too... not getting many touches yet but he is solid on defense.... bledsoe dodson miller hood, harrelson, orton... a few recruits... we have a good base of guys back which is nice... cal also might be going after some guys we dont know about yet... and who knows like i said.. cousins may be back... would be sweet to get wall and ppat back haha...
