Although we won and many of my Dook "friends" were so sure otherwise, we didn't win because we played so well. We played ok, but OSU not playing well had a big part of why we won. Turner didn't have a good game despite his stats and I think UNC played good defense on him and that had a lot to do with it.
But turnovers were still a big problem and if Syracuse plays the way they did tonight and UNC plays the way they did, UNC will lose that game.
Drew was a little late picking up but he answered the call at the foul line at the last ring.
Keep in mind, Syracuse play a Cal team that was missing one of their most pivotal players. I wont promise a victory for UNC, but we will challenge Syracuse in ways that Cal could not.
Well I watched the whole game. I wanted to have a clear picture of the team that is currently ranked ahead of Duke and was named co-champion with Duke this year.
Thompson is a stud.
Drew is an absolute DUD. He had 5 turnovers. UNC had 20 as a team. He is a liability for you guys. I don't care if he hit 2 free throws at the end of a game that you guys let get VERY close. That's the sign of a young team...not finishing games. You better hope that doesn't become a habit.
Davis should be averaging more than 20 minutes a game. He is a stud.
Ginyard did not impress me. I honestly thought he was better than that. He better start showing up for you guys.
I wonder If Roy will tinker with the lineup to to keep his best players on the floor at all times. Not impressed with Wear.
Where was Henson? I've been hearing his name praised to the skies and he gets 2 minutes? Hmmmm.
Obviously, I don't have to tell you guys that it was a sloppy game. UNC will lose a few games early and drop down the rankings. Its probably best though. That #4 ranking looks pretty high to me right now. I hate when the voters do that to young teams. There is NO way they can live up to that ranking. Its the same thing with UK.
I honestly agree with you on every duke4ever except Ginyard. He hit two big threes and as always played well defensively.
UNC will lose a few games early and I kind of agree. I like that the pollsters think highly of this UNC team but it is setting them up for a letdown. I think by Macrch UNC will be a top 5 team and at times have looked like it right now, but not tonight.
I agree with you that UNC will lose to Syracuse tomorrow if they play the same as they did against Ohio St. Ohio State has a talented squad, but they did play very sloppy tonight. As well did UNC. The last 3mins of the game, Ohio State showed how they really should be playing. It was a good turn around for them. I believe Syracuse is very underrated. Anyway, I am and always have been a die hard fan of Duke. With Nolan Smith back to playing, and Singler always staying on his A game we should be tough. We finally have size this year which is a HUGE help. Usually we are known for speed and always pushing the ball. Now we can do that, but also slow the game down and give it to Plumlee in the paint. However, I despise Zoubeck. He's 7 feet tall but can never grab the rebound. He needs to bulk up or get tougher to gain my respect. Not to mention he's always in foul trouble. I'm looking forward to this season and I think it's too early to tell what Duke is going to accomplish this year.
hahahah I know! If Duke had just finished playing a crappy game like that we would have seen a tidal wave of UNC trolls on our message boards. Out of curiosity I visited their message board and there like one Duke fan that gives them trouble. Thats it! I never post on their boards, yet I'm constantly defending this board from UNC trolls who feel like its perfectly acceptable to come over here and be idiots "because of the rivalry". Go figure....

the thing is it's such a huge rivalry. i feel it may be as big or even bigger than the world series or any other rivalry. i myself am a duke fan. i don't talk bad about UNC...because we all know Duke and UNC are great teams. we both have fantastic coaches, recruiting classes, crazy enviroments and in the same conference. they'll always be at the top of the ACC. don't get me wrong, i always want duke to beat them. and for UNC to get beat by an upset. but having such good teams in this conference is great cuz many people respect it and it's very high class.
My mistake, I got you confused with Dukefan704, but you are on our sight frequently. With post like UNC backcourt, Duke/UNC, How we stack up against UNC, Roy Williams owns coach k, it is clear that you have UNC on the mind as well. Which I don't see as a problem. We are both rivals and we like to talk smack to each other.
I've watched 3 of the 4 Carolina games so far. I watched Syracuse last night. Syracuse is probably 15-20 points better than Carolina. This could be a blowout.
So far, Carolina has won with their size. OSU is even relatively small, and they negated the advantage pretty well. If they had hit any shots tonight, the Tarholes would not have escaped with the 'W'. Carolina is going to lose double digit games this year starting tomorrow. I'll call it now. I'm not impressed with Sparty or Kentucky so far, but I still think they will beat Carolina.
Outside of Thompson and Davis, Carolina is not even good, let alone great. All those other guys are severely over-hyped. UNC should be ranked somewhere around 12th-15th and I expect them to finish there. I know you Tarholes hate to hear it, but it's the truth...and it's not like I asked you to come to the Duke board and read it. If you don't want to hear the truth, just stay over on the TarHeel boards with everyone else in denial.
While it may be your opinion and your opinion may prove itself to be true, right now it is not the truth until it happens, and I don't think it is the truth. The freshmen are playing like freshmen but time will help solve that.
i agree with most of what you say. however i feel differently about the rankings subject. november is way too early to be ranked. i feel as if the rankings shouldnt come in to play until late december-early january. it's just wayyyy to early to tell what any team is going to do this season.
