RIP JTG (CBS 2010-2011) FKA Jimmy the Greek (2007-2010)
The Early Years A world famous sports handicapper known by most as Idiot Boy, Jimmy the Greek/JTG was a hated member of the CBS chat board "The Original Lock Thread". Known for his SIM, it was there where the hatred began. The bragging and lying was wearing this on the original founder and many of its members. He felt he never got the credit he deserved as being the one who knew everything about wagering, while 99.9% of the other members knew nothing.
The Live Blog From there, he began the "Live Blog", where no one clammored for his knowledge. He tried to use the blog to push his infamous "Tools From the Shed". This for him was a huge breakthrough in sports gaming. It dealt with 1 unit plays only, although we later found out that was false after his masterful 1-6 NFL Sunday followed by "but I gained it all back on the 10 unit Packer play". Along with 1 unit plays it taught us that spreading out the risk, wagering sometimes 20 plays a day, all while going 7-13 for $1000 a play, could net huge ROI. (Return on Investment for you non JTG readers). This amazed us all. How a human being could be 80 games under .500 and still manage to bank so much profit was just amazing. It left us wanting more, or less, or whatever. But he did it, dedicated day after day to the magical SIM. Losing play after losing play, all while raking in fistfuls of cold hard cash. It was impossible until he did it.
Trouble on the Horizon Although the losing was always a mainstay something in Jimmy changed in late 2010. His SIM became overheated causing a meltdown of monsterous proportions and almost costing Jimmy his life. But he recovered. Loading new weather simulations in and promising another impossibly profitable year.
The Beginning of the End On a cool fall night in a heated debate with another member, a debate he continuously lost time and time again, Jimmy brought down the house with a vicious "personal attack". It is though of by some, as the beginning of the end for Jimmy. He awoke the next morning to find a warning on his profile. And not just a warning, he'd been through that before. A rep dropping warning. He was now a 94. No longer a superstar. What would he do? He still had his SIM. But without the rep, would he be able to recieve the hits and views he needed to get his losing plays to the masses? Would his thread maintain a Top 50 spot? Would his old nemises "The Lock Thread", under new leadership finally give him a run for his money. The public waited on edge......
The Death of Jimmy the Greek Jimmy knew he had to act, and act quickly. He couldn't leave the public hanging. Or could he? I only dream of being inside his genious mind during this tough time so I could know exactly what he was thinking. Should he carry on as normal with the 94 rep? Should he just quit CBS in general, finally giving the "trolls" what they had so desperately wanted for years?Should he troll the Lock Thread in jealous rage, just one last time? No one knew. But then, in the most surprising move in the history of CBS, Jimmy the Greek gave a farewell speech only read by few before it was removed. I was lucky enough to read that speech. In it, he deemed CBS member ungrateful. ungrateful for his SIM and all the losing plays it produced. He vowed he would never return. And just like that, the next day, the Jimmy the Greek we all knew and hated, was gone......but for how long???
Rebirth How long you ask? About 3 days.
JTG He was back! The SIM was fine tuned, he had new recipes. All was well in the Show Me State. He came back with new life, new energy, and a new strategy. A daily thread, a coplete 180 from his earlier Jimmy the Greek thread "The Live blog" where he was fully documented, thanks to freinds like I'll Track Spits, Idiot Boy, and CBS legends CoachTress4Prez and JCutt. It was here where tracking was thought to be much more difficult.
Blog" Daily Thread It was here that Ol Jimmy thought he had escaped. A new ID, a new beginning, free from the documented records of the old Live Blog. The plays began slow, only 5 per night. But quickly ballooned back to 10-20 per night. JTG was back, posting 100+ plays per week, each at $1000 per game. He was loving it. Day by day, play by play, the new Live Blog was growing. Receiving 6-7 views per day and possibly a post from another member, although rare.
SPITSPICKS Tracking It was then that a new member named SPITSPICKS decided to go back and track his new found ID's plays. It was dicovered that his new plays were indeed much worse than the previous tracking done by JCutt. JTG became enraged, proclaiming that the numbers were all lies and not to trust the tracking until you tracked 200+ plays for yourself. But no one was buying it. The community didn't understand what hit them. Was this all the truth? Was JTG possibly playing 20+ games a day at a 38% clip? The tracking said so. But JTG refused to break. He tried his hardest to continue to build his rep, move his thread(s) into the top 50, thread bomd his old nemises "The Lock Thread, and adjust his SIM. But the losing picks just kept coming. And as the losses mounted, JTG's patience waned, and his anger grew.
The 2nd Meltdown As his anger grew, his slip ups increased. He could no longer control his anger over 2 years of tracked and documented losing picks. He began uncharacteristicly lashing out at members and continuing to troll the Lock Thread. This resulted in numerous warnings, knocking his rep back down all the way to Pro. Now what would he do? he had crashed and burned with Jimmy the Greek, had reinvented himself as JTG, and had once again crashed. This resulted in the meltdown of all meltdowns and several quiet days in the gazebo. Last Grasp with Reality (The Final Days) Over the next few weeks follwing the demotion to Pro, JTG tried to hold it together. It was during this time he made such mistakes. Mistakes that made Yankees-120 look reasonable. He began calling final scores before they were done, giving wrong odds for wrong teams, and slowly but surely stopped posting recipes. For a month you may have heard from him 3-4-5 times during that span. Each time dropping off a handful of losing plays until finally never heard from again. Until late in April a mysterious post appeared from JTG. he proclaimed he would be back for baseball and NBA playoff "action jackson", and that a good thing never dies. We all thought he was back. We all yearned for fades, we welcomed it. But it was not to be. JTG was gone, he couldn't do it anymore. Maybe it was the trolls. Maybe it was the SIM. Maybe he finally lost his last dollar on all his losing plays over the year. I refuse to believe any of that. he had to have died. Its the only explanation for his absence. CBS was his life. Afterall, he built this place. He taught us all how to lose. And most importantly, he taught us all how to disregard facts, and only focus on opinions and falsehoods. So next time you skew a record, or ignore a loss, remember one thing, this is what Jimmy would have done, and this is the way he would have wanted it.
