Here is my take on the Indians next year...
I will go by position and where I think they can bat in the line-up
C Santana 3rd
1st LaPorta 6th
2nd is a question mark 9th
SS Cabera 2nd
3rd is a question 8th
RF Choo 5th
CF Brantley lead-off
LF Sizemore 7th
DH Hafner 4th
I'm not sure who will be FA's this year other than Lee and Westbrook. I think we definitely need to sign a couple of FA's. I know Lee is just a pipe dream, but it would be nice to have him in an Indians uniform again. Westbrook is a possibility. I'd like to see them get a decent 3rd baseman.
If and these are really big IFs, they could sign a reliable starter and a 3rd baseman that can hit a little, i think we could have a team that could compete. Of course Santana and Sizemore would have to come back from injuries and play well. LaPorta would have to hit. At least one of the young starters would have to come through.
Ok on second thought we'll probably be battling the Royals for last again next season. I can't see the Dolans spending any money. Sizemore hasn't been decent for 3 years. Santana and LaPorta are still question marks. Well LaPorta cause of his play and Santana cause of his injury.
Is all about the Pitching, Tribe, snag an ACE in the offseason and we might be able to set the rest of the rotation.
Carmona is a #2 pitcher at best, then you have up for grabs for 3rd , 4th and 5th starters. Corasco , Masterson, Talbot, Tomlin ? Along with an Ace, we need a 3rd and 2nd baseman. we take care of those 3 positions, we are in it Perez as the Closer, .....Hope Sizemore rebounds some...and LaPorta shows us promise.......Send Hafner, Marte, Huff and Valbeuno Packing....sorry thanks for Playing. take action now Tribe, and you will have attendance!
Good thing we thing we left Cliff Lee go......... Wow what a performance last night. We could have built around him. Sad, sad, sad. What the hell is the plan for the Tribe? Is there one? Sell the team to a owner who cares, PLEASE!!!!!
Tribe needs to "gamble" for an ACE. Lee and B. Webb will cost too much? I think, Joe Blanton is our man, not sure of his story, but he's a free agent. and had a great 2nd half last season. Blanton can step up as an ACE and set the rest of the rotation in order. with this , this team will contend and rebuild at the same time. gonna be another year of the pitcher, go get one! J. Vazquez is a veteran that can have a devastating upside, like I said, mid-market team, has to gamble! Get this rotation going and Tribe can do it, just ask the Giants!
Look at that, Brewers are shopping 2B Ricky Weeks and 3B Casey McGehee. 2 positions that the Tribe needs to fill. Weeks in 2010 was .269 29 HR 83 RBI's .. only 2B with better offense in 2010 was R. Cano. McGehee put up solid #'s as well. how much of a step up would he be over Jason Nix? How expensive is Weeks? Who would the Tribe give up for him? imo Valbueno needs to go. My offseason "reasonable" wish list for the Tribe is Joe Blanton, R Weeks and heck C McGehee. then lets Roll! Show some moves front office and we will fill the stands!
i dont get it. what is the point of signing a guy like Paul Phillips. A 33 year old veteran who has barely gotten any PT in the majors. who ever is running this team needs to be stopped. the indians are sporting a triple A team out there and they still wont go out and get any big time free agents.
As long as the owner's last name is DOLAN, the Indians will continue to suck. They are the cheapest owners in MLB. They have single handedly destroyed any faith I have in The Tribe winning a World Series in my lifetime. Furthermore, it saddens me to see others still having faith that these morons may actually spend money on this team.
I wish that morons that like rats deserting the ship would take the Indians off of there list of favorite teams. We don't need morons that go with the "Flow" and that are only along for the "ride".
Look at the garbage they signed and actually wany us to pay and watch! Phillips,Everett and Martinez! Terrible! Why not trade players like Jordan Brown and Hodges instead of putting them on waivers? Great developement I say! One was a AAA batting champ and the other was in the future stars game a couple years ago. PATHETIC! Why not trade for Garza,Weeks,Reynolds and try to sign O. Hudson he's making $5 mill a year! Face it people Dolan bought the Indians to show loss of income. He's worth $3.6 billion. He's making money somewhere besides the Yankees,Red Sox and Dodgers! This is a way to write off lossing money PATHETIC!
I think all this crying is coming from the Tribe not doing anything at all this off season, give them a chance and have a little hope .I'm not saying they are going to go out and win thew central but finishing above 500 is possible this year and we can go forward from there.
this is ridiculous, all they would have needed to do is make 1 or 2 moves. a Starter with favorable upside and a 3rd or 2nd baseman. We are talking cheap pickups. that's all they would have needed and then send us fans a message that "We think we have the talent to make a bid for the division". the fans would believe more and the response would be majorly different and the tickets would be selling. but to go out and say we are not doing anything and then watching all the other teams make pickups. Its heartening to see this from our front office.
The Indians do have a chance. But the fact of the matter is, a team can't go year and year out with out signing one high caliber player in the off season. The ownder is un interested, the GM seems about the same. This team has no chance from the get go, because of the front office. i mean they do have young players in Carlos Santana, Fausto Carmona, and Carlos Corrasco that could make a major difference. But relying on young players from Triple A ball every single season is a major risk taker. People aren't going to buy tickets to see a team that doesn't win.
