need to trade for skilled players. Like a team that can score, so we can get players who can score. Gaborik is great, but unreliable (health) and he has essentially NO help.

As it stands, a lot is riding on Dubinsky for the offense.  I assume that he's slated as the #1 center?

This team will run into scoring problems like every other year. Look at the top 6 (potential). Gaborik, Frolov, Dubinsky, Prospal, Callahan (maybe), Anisimov (maybe), MZA (maybe). You know you're in trouble when you can look at the roster and only name 4 or 5 top 6 forwards and on that list only 2 are really true top 6 forwards. Long year ahead if there isn't a surprise contributer

A puck moving defense must lead team and then a few forwards emerge

A puck moving defense must lead team and then a few forwards emerge And that's why D-men that can move with the puck were in such demand the last few offseasons.   Until they get some D-men with better hands, NYR will struggle offensively.

The D is going to be nearly non-existent offensively. With the exception of Del Zotto, nobody contributes consistently to the offense. IF McDonagh makes the team, he may provide some offense, but if anyone is expecting decent offensive numbers, you can pretty much prepare yourself to be disappointed. MDZ is the only real offensive defenseman they have

Does anyone else think that Staal is overrated? If you listen to Sam and Joe, you'd think this guy was a hall of fame player. I think he has the potential to be a top pairing defense man, but I don't see him winning a Norris trophy any time soon. That said, the team needs to sign him before camp starts. In the world of supply and demand, young defense are getting a premium around this league.

Staal is easily overrated by the organization and most fans. He's a solid defender, but in a few years he'll be behind Del Zotto, McDonagh, and Valentenko if he can't develop some kind of offensive game. He's a great defender, though he made some mistakes last year. BUT you don't become a top defenseman by being one-dimensional. Staal needs to round out his game and change that overrated into a correct assessment

so many things wrong..#1...defenseman who can muscle people from the front of henrik..listening to sam saying they are all over 6 ft means nothing..they are all soft..gilroy is a minor leaguer who often winds up in offensive zone behind other teams net..girardi is 100% clueless and soft..eminger is a journeyman joke who sucks..staal is wayyyyyyyyyy overrated..roszival..lol..del zotto has upside but cant move a 175lb guy..should have kept semenov..he was the best d-man..wrote letters begging them to sign john scott in offseason..he got a 2 yr deal at 500k per..chicago..a smart organization..gets him,,#2...drury..he chases puck around..doesnt play a man.teaching dubinsky bad habits..and hes doing it now...why does drury block so many shots..not his job..covering opponents center is job..in 1 year i could make this team a better team...another mediocre season with best case scenario of a 1st round elimination..i wont list other problems

anyone else notice Eminger skating around aimlessly the other night? seems he is never where he is supposed to be, and yet...he makes the team ??? ridiculous...oh and Gilroy and Girardi are easily overated and will not contribute anything to this team this year or any year...why do they get paid so much? If the owners of the Rangers had any guts they'd be putting the pressure on Torts to get these guys to play tough and bring the cup back where it belongs!! We need to get tougher on the ice and stop watching the other teams skate circles around us. Girardi always looks like he is amazed by what the other team is doing.

Going to see my Rangers take on Chicago Nov 1 at the garden. If the Rangers keep playing like they did against Colorado this past Monday night, I may be witnessing a slaughter when they go up against the defending Stanley Cup Champions.

Losing two in a row on home ice to middle of the road Southeast division clubs and now sitting behind the Islanders in the standings; not a very auspicious start to the season for the Blueshirts, to say the least.
