For God's sake wait until the season starts before looking to make a trade. Carmelo Anthony will still have trade value all the way up to the deadline and his value will be as high before the All-Star break as it is before the season starts in terms of value coming back in. The Nuggets will get hosed no matter what if Melo leaves, but if they start off on a good season and coach Karl is back and Al Harrington actually plays well and they are in the running for the one or two seed in the West maybe Melo signs the extension. This at the very least gives fans another few months to enjoy Carmelo on the court. My goodness, we don't even have a new GM yet. With Melo these guys have a nucleus and without him the rebuilding project will be monumental. I know the Nuggets don't want to get left holding Melo's jock and no draft picks, but at the end of the day it's just as well to hold out hope because a talent like Melo won't be walking through the door anytime soon. Best to just see if maybe he stays and move him mid season if you absolutely have to.
Nugs didnt get respect until Billups came to town, and rightfully so. Melo is the statistical leader, but didn't get us anywhere on his own. Rough spot.
The Nuggets were very average until Billups came to town, but the Nuggets have been making cost cutting moves for the past few seasons and haven't had any real depth on the front line especially with the loss of Marcus Camby even though NeNe is a better fit there this team is average at best, so why shouldn't he as in Carmelo want to go elsewhere.
This management team are trying to do too much way to soon they wanna clean house over night instead of moving step by step, you can't expect teams to eat K.Marts contract which comes out to about 17 mil. then turn around and take a talented but headache riddled player in J.R Smith just to unload Melo clearly with Melo being able to leave on his own all he really has to do is gut out the season and leave you guy's high and dry just like Lebron did Cleveland.
But if they look at the deal is offering of young talent in Gallinari, Curry's expiring deal, and A young prospect in Anthony Randolph that is win now talent for any team to build around and you throw a young guard in Toney Douglas which allows your team to unload Chauncy Billups you need to think about that.

Our Nuggets will either send us back to the stone age this season or make us better for the future towards possibly winning our first national championship. I call it the "three kill or be killed moves".
1.) Carmello Anthony move
2.) K-Mart and J.R. move
3.) Signing a true center
If these all workout forour Denver Nuggets than we won't fall back but if we slip ip then that could put us in Cleveland's shoes after this season.
GO NUGGETS!
Melo has shown great patience, and professionalism by not saying much, about not wanting to be with the Nuggets anymore, despite all of that even with behind the scenes talks with the coach and management, they still wanna play hardball with other teams and hold out for an offer that might not get any better than what was already advertised....
Make the deal Denver before you know it Melo will be walking out of their scott free and you all won't get anything to show for it.
First commend Melo for keeping this from affecting his game and the Nuggets as a team. Lets enjoy the short time we have as Nuggets fans left with Melo on the team, and wish him well after. Besides that, we need to unload him asap, and move on. Management better not mess this up, especially since we have seen this happen with Bosh and James last year. Please front office, keep us in the playoffs and get us some potential. Next, stop spending money on guys nicknamed after a department store that has gone bankrupt.
If the Nuggets were to get T.Murphy from the Nets, they would have a killer PF who can also play center. Then maybe they could really do some damage. T.Murphy is being wasted by the Nets and is unhappy there already. Do yourselves a favor and get someone who can rebound and shoot at PF plus play C.
Mello is a very good basketball player; but he is very p-whiped. I now believe he has to ask his wife permission if he can play basketball. He just keeps on smiling and as a fan I am suppose to pretend that his wife is not forcing him to move to NY; Basically his wife can only work in NY and he feels he can not trust her alone in NY surrounded by the hip hop community.
Denver management/ownership got way too greedy with the Carmello trade. The Nuggets should go out and get T.Murphy from the Nets who will probably just about give him away now due to their stupidity in using their players. Murphy would be a nice upgrade at power forward and can play center too.
Why hasn't the Nuggets tried to sign Melo? It has to mean he wants off the Team because why wouldn't he just sign and try to win here. Nuggets aren't trying to build a Team around him. Its looking more and more like the Knicks are going to be the winners in this. Maybe it is because of his wife , maybe not. But what do you all think about getting #1 Draft choice- Fields and Gallarni from the Knicks? This all could end up with Knicks givng up Playoffs this year and just waitting to pick Melo for Money. Any thoughts? Players you would rather get? Think you can still sign him?
um hello the Nuggets have had an offer on the table since the season started the fact of the matter is he has his mind set on where he wants to play and eventually win and it happens to be in New York. Now the kicker is Mark Cuban has stated that he is willing to rent Melo for the remainder of this season, but my deepest suspicion say's if Melo goes to Dallas Cuban will do everything in his power to resign him without a doubt he is too much of a business man to allow a talented player like Carmelo come and go without getting a return on his investment so NY and Donnie Walsh better smarten up and make it happen!!!
Hey don't worry Nugget fans Losing Carmelo is one thing but unlike most reports you will be getting a good player in Wilson Chandler whi I believe is better than advertised, Wil has been solid for my Knicks and despite not playing his natural position which is the SF position he has done well for himself and the team, as far as Brewer I don't know much about him but you will need someone on the wing once you trade Smith away so just think of it this way you could wait for the summer and get nothing in return.
Pathetic. The Nuggets GM has no freaking clue what he's doing. He should be fired for the way he handled the Nets trade (or lack thereof). He had the a ridiculous package at his fingertips and kept wanting more. Now if the Knicks are smart, will just sit back and just wait for him to come to them for nothing, and the Nuggets will become the next Cavs.
I totally agree with you but most teams want to win now and may feel that they are a player away and Melo fits that Bill, but if Denver management keeps being greedy then I hope they get just what they are asking for and thats nothing in return.
Dallas fans, Denver fans, and NBA fans/observers in general watched a first-rate 3rd quarter performance tonight. Both teams provided plenty of highlights for Sportscenter. The offenses played particularly competitively from long-range shots to mid-range shots to short-range shots, dunks, etc. It's always fun to watch Melo go tit-for-tat in 3 point shooting with an effective adversary such as Jason Terry was on this night. Marion looked like he was about ready to clinch a sudden death playoff vs. Terry for 6th man of the year. While Denver has plenty of other good starters and bench players I would miss having Melo-Billups as the lead 1-2 attack. On the other hand, a lot of recent migrants (Boozer, Stoudemire, James, Bosh, Jefferson, etc.) look at least as effective at their new team as they were at their prior teams who, with the exception of Cleveland and Toronto, have admirably filled the voids (Jefferson for Boozer, a committee--Phoenix is 3rd in team PPG, 5th in team FG%--for Stoudemire, Beasley/Ridnour/ Love for Jefferson, etc.)
Hey Guys, how about this for a trade. Mem gets Curry, A. Randolph, JR Smith and Harrington; Den gets Z. Randolph, Mosgov, Gallinari, Azubuike, and Mayo; and the Knicks get Carmelo and Nene. I think that is a fairly fair deal for all the teams. The contracts work out, Denver gets to save 7 mil off the top plus gets a huge expiring contract from a player that they can still use to make a push in the playoffs. Mayo replaces Smith, they add Gallo to play SF, send Martin to the bench or play him together with Randolph. As for Mem, they get a PF that is not too expensive and will produce for them. They also get some expiring contracts and a project in AR. And of course the Knicks get Melo an upgrade from Mosgov to Nene. Nene gives the Knicks some interior defense and Melo helps Stat fill up the basket. And best of all Chandler can switch to SG and give the Knicks a starting lineup of Nene, Stat, Melo, Chandler, Felton. Pick up a D-league PG and this team would be ready for the playoffs. What do you think?
