How has it gone this long and no one has commented on the Flyers' page yet?? This must end now. And, so this gets thrown back onto the NHL board, thus creating another Flyers thread for ChrisH to follow.. we know how he loves them all!!
With Arron Asham now a Pen, the engraver may as well start putting those Pens names on the Cup now.. get a head start. No one is gonna be able to stop Sid, Geno AND Ash! Guess there's always next year, Flyers fans. But hey.. we do have Shelley.. that should get us to the ECF anyway!
I deem this thread unworthy!!! Sorry.. only ChrisH has that power. But I can see why you wouldn't want a thread with the Flyers as a title, where a Flyers fan is saying the Pens are gonna win the Cup.. how disgusting is that for a Pitt fan?!?! Yuck.
I would swap Carcillo for Asham in a heart beat. I hate the signing of Shelley and Carcillo over Asham.
I love Holmgren, but WTF**** Paul? Ash can play.
Pittsterd just got a good 3rd liner at a hell of a price.

Couldn't agree more!
RC, It's a little early to talk Flyers. Besides, there's not much to report. Zherdev should be an upgrade. Sorry to see Gagne go. I still think they need another goalie. Pronger on the mend. What else?
Alright, here it is. The Pens have problems just like every other team. Just because the Pens signed Aaron Asham doesnt mean anything except they have a tough player on their team. To the Flyers fan who said to hand the cup to Pittsburgh now..... hold your horses. As we see every year, it is a long season and anything and everything happens. The Flyers have just as much of a chance to make it back to the finals as does any other team. I hope the Flyers get a grasp on the goalie situation and maybe pick up a free agent who can score some much needed points. I feel our d is in very good shape. Looking forward to comments and others opinions.
To the Flyers fan who said to hand the cup to Pittsburgh now..... hold your horses. It's called "sarcasm". Learn to recognize it. Make it your friend. :)

Make it your friend. :) Yeah, I thought I made that clear with the next sentence, "But hey.. we do have Shelley.. that should get us to the ECF anyway!" . Apparently not. Unless that one sounded even more sincere, if that's the case, then I'd really worry.
I agree with the hate Shelley should have kept Asham. I don't quite get it but adding Guerin would be nice both on the ice and in the locker room. The Flyers are probably the deepest team defensively in the NHL that usually equals success in the playoffs. We shall see what the season brings and i wouldn't be surprised at all when we are posting about the Flyers playing Memorial Day weekend again this year.
Next thing you'll tell me is that theres an all knowing, all powerful Penguins fan that likes to dole out criticism and misery when he gets the chance to use mom's computer from the basement.
Not sure how I feel about the Asham deal, I guess his cap hit was going to be too high, but if that is not the case, then I think they should have kept him. I like the idea of Guerin putting on the Flyers jersey, but he is old and Richards/Carter/Giroux are not up to Crosby/Malkin offensive level, so he is not going to get as many points here. I am sure he brings leadership into the locker room, as long as it adds to and doesn't take away from curent leadership than it could help raise the cup. Still concerned about our goaltending, it is questionable. Defense is probably best complete defense in the league. Offense has a lot of potential, but they need to put the points up before I am completely sold on them. Offense seemed streaky last year, need more consistency. Overall, as long as the Flyers stay healthy, I feel they have a chance to make another run this year. Looking forward to training camp starting.
I think even tho Ryan Parent has been around a bit, he's still a question mark.. he can be good at times, and real bad at times.. at least he was when he was in Philly. I guess you'll have to wait and see how it goes with him. For the Flyers, they released their opening day roster , and they are going with 12 forwards and 8 defensemen along with the 2 goalies, at least as of now. Nodl was loaned to the Phantoms and may be back soon. Leighton and Laperriere will go on IR, and Lappy may even end up retiring as it's being said he could miss the entire season now.
Laperriere has two injuries: one to his eye and one to his brain. And though nothing official has been decided about his future in the NHL, he said he would "be lying if I didn't think about retirement."
A shame for Lappy.. it'd be hard to find a tougher warrior out on the ice. As for Leighton and Nodl.. General manager Paul Holmgren said that on Thursday morning, the club would “most likely” place Leighton on LTIR, then move Nodl back to the Flyers in time to take warm-ups in Pittsburgh for tomorrow’s season opener.
Why do this? Because Leighton is likely going to miss at least 10 games or 24 days, so he can go on LTIR.
Why not Laperriere? Because there is no timetable and if the Flyers put him on the list now, he’ll likely stay on it the entire season.
And as for other players..
Still no definitive word on whether Chris Pronger will play in the opener against the Penguins. It will be entirely up to him, but players think he’ll be there … Brian Boucher is expected to start but coach Peter Laviolette would not confirm that. … Blair Betts (left knee) took practice and says he’ll play.
The time is almost here.. little over 24 hours away from the start of the season! Go Flyers!
Look for Chris Pronger to sit out the entire season. He's still terrified because Adam Burish said he was going to kick his ass, and this whole injury thing is just a smoke screen so he doesn't have to admit to the world that he's skeered. Can you blame him?
