The guy hits left handed pitching very well, he's struggling this year and last against right handed pitching. I'm wondering if he wouldn't be better served scrapping the switch hitting and batting right handed only.
When Mike Morse returns to left field and Bryce Harper becomes the full time centerfielder, the Nats still will lack an 'ideal' leadoff hitter. Ian Desmond simply doesn't take enough pitches. When everyone is healthy, I think the ideal set up is Jayson Werth in the leadoff slot, as he has a consistently good OBP most years. Then, I would hit Danny Espinosa in the cushy two slot, so that he can get a ton of pitches to hit in front of Harper. Espinosa may strikeout a lot, but he also takes pitches and walks a lot too. Even with a .230 BA last year, he still had a higher OBP than Desmond.
"Danny Espinosa continues to struggle mightily in his third major-league season, as his batting average fell to .191 after a 1 for 4 game."
Umm, simple math here. It actually ROSE to .191....
if this guy has any options left, send him back down to the minors to figure out his swing. Start Lombardozzi and give him the chance to take over the spot. what a disappointment this guy has been.
he's finally turning things around...it was a matter of time... i knew that if I dropped him he would then flip the switch, so i'm happy I didn't jump the gun...you gotta remember that fantasy baseball is a marathon and not a race
