"Guys like simple jack, PancakeJake, twocoach, JimDoors, and realdeal will be nowhere to be found the day the Heat get eliminated from the Playoffs, not that this clan ever brought anything positive to the CBS community in the first place."

Then why were we all here after the Heat lost in the Finals two years ago? Basketball is basketball and it will always be around to discuss and I will always enjoy discussing it. Just because a team I like to watch doesn't go as far as I thought they would doesn't change that.

"twocoach will be relegated to going back to following NCAA basketball - no more NBA for him..."

For the uninformed, the NBA playoffs don't even start until several weeks after the end of the college basketball season. Just a head's up.

Is it possible to tank in a game in February when you're one of the best teams in the league?

guess we'll know soon enough. as we all know ANYTHING can happen in the NBA...

oh wait. i guess you think the Heat not getting a title WON'T be looked at as a failure this season...

I meant you and trojan.  I have no wisdom (or maybe just a little) unlike either of you guys.  Cool

I am a little confused as to which wisdom to follow: one wants the Heat to win, the other wants Miami to lose???

Was about to say, even worse is that LAL didn't gain any ground on 8th place Houston.

What would be worse is if they lost ground. Always looking for the negative.

World Peace and K. Bryant make top ten of most disliked athletes, surprised no-one from the Heat even sniffs the list.
Time to switch side gents?????   Surely, you don't want to be associated organization who tolerates thugs like that, right???

I used to have wisdom, but I think I forgot it!!Tongue out

I guess it depends. CL's stance of not pulling for the Heat is the more principled as he doesn't care what a Heat win may do to help the Lakers, he stands on principle and pulls for the Heat to fail.

Mine is more self-serving. So, if I have to swallow my pride, get drunk, pull for the Heat and then shower afterward to pull for something that will help the Lakers, then so be it.

I do still see my way as a win-win. If the Heat win, it's helps the Lakers and if they lose, I have more reason to hate on them!!Laughing

Lakers without a doubt will be cheering for the Rockets.

These guys are not smart.

They rather be 4 games back instead of 3.

The vast majority of Lakers fans will be cheering for the Heat. No doubt about that. You are not very smart.

Doesn't Kobe sell the most jerseys worldwide? I guess he is the most liked and most disliked athlete. And since when is being disliked the equivalent of being a thug?

That's another way of looking at it.   I was following BK about the situation and wanting to complement LAL on the nice win.

My intention was to indicate that even with what seem to be a very good run for the Lakers, they didn't gain any ground on the 8th place Houston.   If LAL get into a bad stretch, it will be much worse.

Maybe his jerseys were sold mostly to children and foreigner who can't read.

Those who can read and vote have spoken.

I am just using the same word that LAL fans have been using on James and Wade.

Yes, I see the wisdom.   Looks like Miami team/fans are in a perfect place then.   Let's start another thread 'Join the "Heat Fearer" club' also.

The Lakers are definitely at a crossroads in the season, so to speak. They are playing well and the team seems to be starting to gel and get on the same page (I wonder if i can cram one more cliche' into that sentence? LOL!!).

Beating the Nets on the road without 2 starters and losing Pau late in the 4th quarter speaks to that. However, if Pau is going to be out awhile (and it didn't sound encouraging last night) than they are going to need Howard to play through the shoulder injury and avoid any further injuries or the season could fall apart quickly.

6-1 over the last 7 games and 3-1 on the current road trip are encouraging signs though.

Forgot to add, what happened to D. Howard?   How could he not make the top ten?   Shame on D. Howard, LAL is losing out, come on the Lakers need more disliked athletes!!   Cool

"oh wait. i guess you think the Heat not getting a title WON'T be looked at as a failure this season...  "

A failure? No. A disappointment, yes. They are not so heavily stacked that anything less than a title is a failure. There are several really good teams out there with as much talent as Miami has.

The Lakers not being a Top 4 seed in the playoffs with the roster they have is a FAILURE.

ucfalu, you're all over the place this morning...get a hold of yourself...here, let me help;

Was about to say, even worse is that LAL didn't gain any ground on 8th place Houston.
What would be worse is if they lost ground. Always looking for the negative.
That's another way of looking at it.   I was following BK about the situation and wanting to complement LAL on the nice win.
Oh really?  You were looking to compliment the Lakers by saying, "even worse is that LAL didn't gain any ground on 8th place Houston"???  That's interesting.  BTW, word to the wise..."following" punchline (aka bksballer) has never helped anyone - the blind leading the blind.

Doesn't Kobe sell the most jerseys worldwide? I guess he is the most liked and most disliked athlete.
Maybe his jerseys were sold mostly to children and foreigner who can't read.  Those who can read and vote have spoken.
..."mostly to children and foreigner who can't read"???  How about morons who can't write???  falu, I got news for you, as polarizing a personality as Kobe is, he's got legions of fans everywhere - both nationally and internationally - and it's almost at an unprecedented level not seen since Jordan in his heyday.  Watch any Lakers telecast on the road you will invariably see literally entire parcels of Kobe fans cheering him on, no matter where he plays.

And since when is being disliked the equivalent of being a thug?
I am just using the same word that LAL fans have been using on James and Wade.
Name me any Lakers fan who has labeled either James or Wade as a "thug"?  Foolish, yes...thug, no.

Personally, I say GOOD!! I hope the Lakers are the most hated team too!! No one hates on the unsuccessful!!
Yes, I see the wisdom.   Looks like Miami team/fans are in a perfect place then.   Let's start another thread 'Join the "Heat Fearer" club' also.
I got more news for you - there have been several attempts to start other Heat-centric thread on the general board, including punchline's hilarious "Join the "Heat Lovers" club", which have all fallen on deaf ears and suffered ignominious fates...but I dare you to go ahead and try.

The "Heat Haters" club thread is the only truly enduring Heat related thread - 3,806,070 views and counting.  After all, it's become home to Heat loving trolls like you, twocoach, J_D, turnip, punchline.

Agreed!!   LAL are finally playing up to their potential.   At the same time, their ages (and hence injuries) maybe their biggest hindrance.   It's hard to have any continuity when players kept on falling out of the rotation due to health issues.

The other problem is the hole they've digged themselves in - is it too large to overcome?   In my opinion, they have not much margin for error.   Any more 4 losses in a row will spell doom immediately.
