Bogus Views

At the close of the 2011 baseball season in mid-July, the status of this thread looked like this -
    1785 Replies     37176 Views

With minimal activity since (20+ posts over the past 6 months), its status suddenly became this -
    1807 Replies     56841 Views

As you can see by the nearly 20,000-view increase, a certain somebody is taking great pains to manipulate the # of Views of this thread during the off-season, and particularly after recent Replies were posted.  In the past three weeks alone - even without any additional posting - 4,000 views have appeared!

                        Replies    Views
 12/23/2011    1807       52878
 12/24/2011    1807       53181
 12/31/2011    1807       54834
 1/1/2012         1807       55082
 1/10/2012       1807       56841

Since it appears this could continue unabated, I feel compelled to advise that I am NOT the one responsible for these bogus Views.

Finally, from observations gleened when this thread was most active, the average increase in Views is rarely more than 20-25 per Reply.

"Glitch in the matrix", huh?  ROFLMAO!  Good one, yet again, porks.

Actually, it makes much more sense for you to ADD baseball to your Hog repertoire, you one-diminsional fanatic.  It's a round ball too, you know.Laughing

hah! yor the best blhw! i love my hogs in any sport i can watch. i get every game on espn 3 in basketball. about 8 games in football, and on average one in baseball. its too bad college baseball doesnt get the love the other two get indeed, because my favorite sport is probably baseball. i would be all over that! my wife is tired of me anyway, i could spend every waking second talking hoops, and baseball online! i did see that the fences are being moved in a few feet for this season. my mets are doing the same thing. lets hope it helps the hogs more than it will the mets, they are going to be awful!!!

Yeh, yeh, yeh. Wink So put your money Money mouth where your mouth is, sign up for RazorVision, and start enjoying the games with me/us (seriously).  Turn back one page for the schedule... and this post -
Judging by last season, all 35 "home" games held at Baum and Dickey-Stephens will be shown on RazorVision - while the rest can be heard on RV.

I'd strongly recommend the four-month $39.95 package that would include every game but either the first or last series, which fall outside of this period.  I plan to run my subscription from Feb 19 thru June 19.  You would also get a month or so of premium bball as well.

Best forty bucks you could spend to see the Hogs roll to Omaha this coming season!
You'll also pick up a handful more bball games I believe.  (BTW, while you're watching the OM game on ESPN3 tomorrow night, be sure to pop over to ARBF and comment on the in-progress game post.)

i will check in during the big win tomorrow night for sure. i had tried razorvision few years back before i got espn3 and was supremely dissapointed with it. it was always freezing, and losing sound. has it gotten any better, or perhaps my provider when i was in another state? i would have a lot to learn about hawg baseball. but if you say try razorvision again maybe i will. sure wont be wasting my time watching the mets this year. i usually buy mini packages for the mets, but that is over until the wilpons sell the team. so i have MONEY TO BURN BABY!!!  ole miss has me anxious and nervous as always. i think we have lost 8 of last 10 in that dump down there. time to turn that trend in the other direction. lets go hogs! also jimmie dykes is dropping b.j. young's name every 10 minutes on florida/ georgia game. its nice to have one person at espn who is a hog fan.

Look forward to it.  Already set up the Game Post.

I had the very same problem with RV 2 seasons ago, only to later discover I wasn't right with my provider.  Fixed it, and everything's great since.  (Check your download speed / if it's in the 5.00Mb/s range, your RV video reception should be smooth as silk.  If not high enough, complain to your provider.)

i would have a lot to learn about hawg baseball...
That's exactly why I'm keeping this 2011 thread alive, since frankly it's a great reminder of where the Diamond Hogs were last season, what the outlook is for this one, and probably contains somewhere all the bb links I relied on to keep up with the Game.  So read thru it.  When I first got into Razorback baseball the season before last, it took me only about a month to get comfortable... enough to post on the subject without feeling stupid:)  Have loved it ever since.  Being a bb fan yourself, you have to know the ongoing excitement of being into a bb team that plays 4+ games/week - versus a couple/wk in bball and 1/wk in fb.

so i have MONEY TO BURN BABY!!!
Love having rich friends! Cool

ole miss has me anxious and nervous as always. i think we have lost 8 of last 10 in that dump down there.
That was then / THIS IS NOW.  Plus they have a couple players out for some reason > injury, suspension, or whatever.  You're the second person to call their place a dump this week.

lets go hogs! also jimmie dykes is dropping b.j. young's name every 10 minutes on florida/ georgia game. its nice to have one person at espn who is a hog fan.
Dam - thx for reminding me of the gatordawg game.  Just tuned it in.  Dykes and Nessler are easy listening.  2nd conf game, and already calling 'cuse, UK, NC, and Baylor #1 seeds.  Looks like UF is taking their loss out on Georgia.

2012 SEASON

Even though I decided early-on that there was insufficient interest in Arkansas Baseball here at cBS to have a dedicated thread this season, there are still certain 2012 conversations/topics that I feel are more appropriate HERE than for public consumption elsewhere.

... so to Hog Fans/Cool/Friends,
  • Feel free to post-away on a 2012 season that is now entering its stretch run - with twelve SEC games remaining + postseason tournament action.

SEC West / Down the Stretch
To start with, let's look at where the Diamond Hogs rate within the division at a time when all league teams have twelve conference games remaining.  I'll focus on the West's three predicted frontrunners.

While this was projected to be a breakout year for Arkansas, the reality is - barring the unlikely - the Hogs will not even win their own division, as they did in the final regular season game of 2011 against the Rebels.  LSU will likely maintain its comfortable lead in the West, while Arkansas and Ole Miss (now tied for 2nd at 9-9) should be vying to the end for 2nd place.

Reputed baseball site WarrenNolan.com projects an Arkansas 3rd-place finish one game back of OM.  My series-by-series analysis of the top three's final schedules is a bit different from Nolan, but still ends up with the same final order:  the Razorbacks and Rebels tying @ W16-L14, with the Hogs sadly finishing 3rd by losing the earlier head-to-head series tie-breaker.

Breakdown of Final 12 Games

LSU             MyPred > 7-5    Nolan >8-4
     Georgia                  2-1
     @Mississippi        2-1
     Vanderbilt               2-1
     @S Carolina         1-2

Ole Miss    MyPred > 7-5    Nolan >8-4
     @Miss State          2-1
     LSU                        1-2
     Tennessee            2-1
     @Vanderbilt          2-1

Arkansas  MyPred > 7-5     Nolan >7-5
     @Florida                1-2
     S Carolina             2-1
     Auburn                    2-1
     @Tennessee         2-1
... with the final ranking something like this:

                          Current    Nolan     Mine
1    LSU              12 - 6    20 - 10    19-11
2    Ole Miss         9 - 9    17 - 13    16-14
3    Arkansas        9 - 9    16 - 14    16-14 (3rd place by OM series tie-breaker)

What's your take?

SEC West
The preceding season projections are based solely on prevailing trends;  but with twelve games remaining, a lot can change.

What probably will not change is LSU's possession of 1st place in the West.  Their current 3-game cushion over Arkansas and Ole Miss looks solid.  On the other hand, both 2nd place clubs have State and Auburn presently nipping on their tails;  so all four have a shot at 2nd and can end up in any order behind LSU... as seen by current West Division Standings -

                           SEC      Overall
1    LSU           12 - 6      31 - 9
2    Arkansas    9 - 9      29 - 12
2    Ole Miss     9 - 9      27 - 14
4    Miss State  8 - 10    25 - 16
5    Auburn       7 - 11     22 - 19
6    Alabama    6 - 12     17 - 25

I don't see last place Bama posing much of a threat to move up, with upcoming away series against SC and UK, plus MSU and UGA at home.

ARKANSAS BASEBALL FANATICS - 2012

South Carolina @ Arkansas
May 4, 5, 6 @ Baum Stadium
What's at stake -

South Carolina
is currently odd-man out for one of the eight National Seeds, but just barely - with plenty of opportunity to climb back in "it" with nine games remaining against the Arkansas, LSU, and Georgia.  Winning this weekend's series at Arkansas is crucial for this undertaking.

Aaron Fitt (Baseball America) / Stock Report:  Week 11 / May 1
National Seeds:  ON THE BUBBLE (OUT): SC, Purdue, Oregon, UCLA, Cal State/Ful, Arizona, NC State
  • LSU and South Carolina are tied with UK for the best conference record in the SEC, but the Gamecocks have feasted against the bottom third of the league in recent weeks;  they are still just 2-5 against the top 25, compared with Florida's 14-8, LSU's 7-5 and North Carolina's 6-4.  For now, that's the reason the Gamecocks get squeezed out of a national seed, but they'll have ample opportunity to rack up quality wins over the next three weekends, with road series against Arkansas and Georgia followed by a home set against LSU.  South Carolina controls its own destiny in the national seed debate: finish strong over the last three weekends and it will surely force its way into a national seed.

Arkansas, on the other hand, needs this series win against this top RPI team to nail down one of the sixteen valuable hosting spots for the NCAA Regionals;  and then go no worse than 3-3 against Auburn and @ Tennessee, but preferably win both.  That said, the Razorbacks are not mathematically out of the hunt for a National Seed.

Aaron Fitt (Baseball America) / Stock Report:  Week 11 / May 1
Regional Hosts:  ON THE BUBBLE (IN): Cal State Fullerton, Arizona, Arkansas
  • The race for the final hosting spot or two is very competitive and fluid.  The Razorbacks get a huge jolt after winning a series in Gainesville, while the Rebels took a step back with a road series loss at Mississippi State.  But Ole Miss can help its case with a series win this weekend against LSU - while Arkansas can further strengthen its own position with a home series win against South Carolina this weekend.  The top four teams in the SEC seem locked in as hosts barring meltdowns, and six hosts from one conference is very unlikely, so Ole Miss and Arkansas are likely battling for one spot.
