qboro, it is impossible for the Knicks to do all that. Assuming the players win the arbitration over bird rights, then the Knicks will be able to resign Novak, Lin and Fields without touching their MLE or Bi-annual. That would leave a $5M/year slot and a $2M/year slot (not sure on that one). So the Knicks could get Miller (or another PG), Odom, and maybe one other player. I think JR is gone, if he is not then the Knicks will only have $2.5M MLE for this year. Melo, Stat and Chandler can not redo their deals until next year for Stat and Melo and 2 years for Chandler.
After watching the Allen Iverson interview with Lisa Salters it was somewhat sad seeing this Future HOF being black balled the way he has, knowing he's beeter than half the MF****'s playing in the game today, but w/o knowing much about him he probably brings so many red flags to the table and managements and owners probably have been worned about AI... I will say this though all thats been going on has to have been a truly humbling situation and im pretty sure the guy's ego has taken a huge ass hit, with the right situation I believe the guy can help somebody's team out and to me New York should be the prime destination and Mike Woodson would probably get the best out of this guy, it could have all been on D'antoni who didn't want AI before saying no more Marbury like situations so it could be worth it
What do you mean Nash not looking at New York, does he know something we don't? Maybe he heard Stat is gonna get moved or maybe he thinks New York is not even on Miami's level to the point where coming to the East might not be worth it! Or maybe he feels the rugged eastern conference will expose his game.... Either way we'll see come July first, I will say this if the Knicks can retain several of their key players and secure a first team PG, plus Lamar Odom, and possibly Allen Iverson to come in as a Lou Williams type of role player then we look strong as ever plus when Shumpert makes his return given a month to reaclimate, Miami better think about the Knicks....
And yes Isiah Thomas not being picked up to work on Woodson's staff which is a good thing, Zeke doesn't need a title in order to continue his MSG affiliation, his best attribute to the team is working on the college level scouting young propects like the one he did last season, just my opinion here but by mind says he scouted Shumpert the Chicago native, that was a sleeper pick for real and no one even considered him for the KNicks draft board... But whoever was responsible for the young'n by all means keep it coming we have a second round pick this year I hope they've scouted well thus far!
Just curious if, and when Patrick Ewing get's passed over by Charlotte for the head coaching job, not saying he isn't worthy I just feel going up against a HOF in Jerry Sloan and Stan Van Gundy Jordan might want to have an already established coach leading his young team to get them on the right track, but with that said Im really hoping Ewing would be considered for Woody's staff in some capacity... Makes no damn sense that our greatest big men is helping other organizations but won't even be allowed to contribute to his very own that he's done so much for for a decade and then some...
I had always wondered who really made the call for Shumpert. I remember wanting the kid that ended up on the Wizards, Chris Singleton. I have heard it was Walsh's final call, but I've also heard Isiah really stood up and pushed for the kid. I wonder what the truth is. I know at the moment he was drafted it wasn't very popular. Thank god for unpopular decisions. I'm sure Trail Blazer fans were excited they took Bowie over Jordan as well.
